  1. Have fun. Wish I could go too but alas, COVID restrictions.
  2. I was only made to feel self conscious once many moons ago by dining alone. It was a lovely waterside seafood restaurant in Newport, R.I. during the high season in August. You gave your name at the reception and waited till you were called on the loudspeaker. The place was very lively and noisy. So when my turn came they announced my name and added “party of one”. They could have just said “party of Mr. x”. The stuffed lobster was worth it though.
  3. I would take FTL over KW. I have only been to KW 3 times but it’s a small island. Nice to walk or bike around, you don’t need a rental car unless you want to visit some of the other keys. Not great for finding Rentmen. Nice for taking charter cruises either day trips or a couple of days. Fort Lauderdale is a big city, with all that larger communities have to offer. Definitely need a car to get around unless you just want to stay at an all inclusive resort and stay put.
  4. So I checked and about 75 percent of infections in the US are from unknown sources. Much the same in other countries with high rates of transmission. Contact tracers are overwhelmed in these countries. So I have to ask. Where are you getting your information?
  5. And the outcomes of the two systems are abundantly clear. Lower life expectancy in America, more chronic illnesses, more obesity, I could go on.
  6. In fact many people don't know who they got the virus from. Just take the example of "superspreader" events. But beyond those people can acquire it from casual contact. And don't get me started on extremely careless people. You can see pictures of them everywhere, in crowds, in indoor situations. On this forum, some members were talking about stripper bars in Fort Lauderdale where they are packed in on popular nights. You can't drink and wear a mask at the same time. And in Florida the virus is rampant.
  7. That doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue. Lol
  8. I’ve been with Gabriel Clark a couple of times and can verify his piss tastes great, very clear in fact. He’s a good athlete and doesn’t take drugs or even drink much liquor as we went out to restaurants during our dates, which included overnights.
  9. You seem to be assuming contact tracing is working 100 percent of the cases of infection. We know that is not the case, particularly in areas where the number of recent infections is high. This certainly pertains to most of the US states which includes California. The reason people are being told to wear masks after being vaccinated is based on a knowledge of the science, both what has been tested through trials and what has not been tested. You can still apply scientific theory to what has not been tested by looking at the transmissions of other viruses in situations where vaccinated subjects have infected others, even though not getting sick themselves. Time will tell whether this is the case with COVID and the current batch of vaccines on the market. The most recent evidence is that AstraZeneca is promising in this regard. My understanding is that trials are being conducted on Pfizer and Moderna but will take time to produce the evidence.
  10. The good news is that once you receive the vaccine, even if you get exposed to the virus, you are not likely to become seriously ill or die.
  11. Try going to mayoclinic.org and checking out their advice about wearing masks after receiving vaccination for COVID. They absolutely recommend it because of the risk of transmitting the virus to others, even though the vaccinated person shows no symptoms. They can still harbour the virus and spread it. Similar advice is on the CDC website.
  12. I don’t know what alternative universe you are living in. The British government said this week that none of the 3 vaccines approved by them, Pfizer, Moderna, nor AstraZeneca, offer proof that vaccinated individuals cannot spread the virus. Authorities here in Canada are saying the same thing. We are being told we must still practice the same precautions after getting vaccinated.
  13. So I take it that if they got the virus even after vaccination, they could still spread it to others.
  14. Another myth propagated by the US health insurance and private hospital lobbies. Lol

  16. As a Canadian reading these news reports, I am reminded that a lot of these issues discussed in the articles are linked to the US being the only industrialized country in the world without universal health coverage. Millions of these marginalized populations in the US simply don’t have adequate health care, which is why these co-morbidities wreek havoc when they contract COVID.
  17. I take it sanitizing does not fit with your science-based approach.
  18. In 45 years of owning houses or condos, I’ve never had a warranty program either. I go for the best furnaces that have 10 year warranties and have only had two furnaces in all that time which were new when I bought each house, without any issues. I buy the cheapest appliances and when they cause a real problem, I get a new one. Some of these have lasted forever and two or three only lasted 5 or 6 years. Throwing out a $600 6 year old clothes dryer doesn’t cause me any loss of sleep. As a result I have never had to deal with a repairman.
  19. Another point often overlooked is that with the two vaccines, Pfizer and Moderna, it is not known yet whether they prevent transmission of the virus even if they stop the infection from resulting in the disease COVID? The new one now being distributed, AstraZeneca, has shown in trials that it is up to 67 percent effective against transmission of the virus from an asymptomatic vaccinated person. It follows that even vaccinated people still need to wash their hands, wear masks and social distance, n’est ce pas? Or have I got that all wrong?

  21. Yeah, since I clicked on his ad on RM, he contacted me on Tuesday unsolicited about doing a webcam, saying he’s 29, educated (his messages were very literate) and easy to get along with. I told him we were in lockdown and then he replied he was in Dubai, where it’s 20 degrees C currently. So I wasn’t surprised when I saw the review posted after our convo. Can you imagine, paying to watch someone sleep on a cam. There must be some desperate people in these desperate times.

  23. Hi there, I would assume it’s just the business but maybe includes some unused lease, which would be valuable in normal circumstances. Not sure if that’s the case now since vacancy rates for commercial premises are higher as a result of many business closings and rents have probably declined. You’re right about the amount. The building would add hundreds of thousands more as there are also rental units above the restaurant as I remember.

  25. You appear to be agreeing with everything I said in my first post on this subject.
