  1. A scandal is brewing in Canada with the milk farmers being accused of using an additive in their cow feed that produces more milk, a palm oil derivative. Cooks are complaining it has changed the consistency of butter, making it harder and less easy to melt or soften. The organization that represents the farmers reacted quickly, asking them to stop the practice, which went unheralded when it was adopted. I think the federal government is going to face an increasing backlash, which has already started, since the entire dairy sector is government regulated with strict price and production controls across the entire country. At first blush this appears to be motivated by greed on the part of these farmers, who already enjoy a very remunerative occupation. Also their reputation of producing an entirely natural product has taken a hit.
  2. Dairy might not be a necessary part of one’s diet but by including it you are ensuring you are getting the necessary nutriants it supplies. By excluding it you have to be pro-active to find all the necessary substitutes to balance out a strictly vegan diet, for instance. A vegan diet won’t give you omega 3 fatty acids, vitamin D, vitamin B12, or zinc and you will need to find supplemental or other ways to deal with this problem. How many people are disciplined enough to follow through. There is also evidence to suggest a vegan diet can lead to depression, mental health issues and eating disorders, more elevated than in the general population.
  3. Glad that you clarified what your aims are. Most people are not trying to reduce their body fat to those low levels you cite. I have always been under the impression if is difficult to keep fat at those levels over a long period, and perhaps also not healthy to try to do so. The body needs fat, just as it needs muscle, healthy bones and other components to maintain good health. I was not saying your coach was denying the nutritional benefits of dairy products. But by ruling them out, he was overlooking the essential constituents such as calcium and vitamins that are contained in such things as milk.
  4. That coach is no nutritionist. Dairy products include not just milk but cheese, butter, cream, whipped cream ( cream in another form), yoghurt, sour cream, ice cream, curds, whey, cottage cheese and I’m probably forgetting some. They all contain some essential nutrients which the body needs to stay healthy. The trick is to consume these items in moderate amounts and not to gorge yourself on any, especially ice cream, which can be hard. If you eat a balanced diet in reasonable amounts suitable for your size, sex, and age, you are halfway to achieving a healthy life style.
  5. I grew up in a family of four children and we all drank tons of regular cows milk. As an adult I continued to drink it with lunch but switched to 2% for the longest time. Then around 50 switched again to 1%, which I will stick with for the rest of my days.
  6. That’s a drawback in that you have to line up at a teller to get c-notes, which I prefer because I usually do overnights.
  7. It may be 2021 but the lights sometimes go out, just ask Texans. Cash works in any situation, but of course you need a cc to show if you are renting a hotel room or car in most places.
  8. I’m surprised that frozen shrimp cost that much. Here they are relatively cheap. Frozen crab legs and lobster are much more expensive as they are mostly Canadian sourced. The shrimp mostly come from Thailand, Vietnam and some other developing countries.
  9. You must be around my age as I have already commented on them being in Montreal shoe stores in the 1950’s. They disappeared sometime in the early 60’s around the time people became conscious of the dangers of radiation and banning above ground atomic tests. Now when you go for any x-ray test they drape you in lead shields. Lol, we were so innocent then.
  10. I would take my brother and sister-in-law there when they visited town. But I also enjoyed the little restaurant on Wolfe Street just south of Ste Catherine, which also served a great breakfast, more traditional Quebecois fare. It was a great place to take sleep over guests of the male sex and a gathering spot for breakfast with gay friends who lived in the Gay Village along with myself. I think it was called Resto du Village. They served all three meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner. And were licensed to sell alcohol. I imagine small places like that are at risk of going under during the lockdowns we have endured.
  11. Are you thinking of Cora's. They serve a great breakfast, with fresh fruit with many of the dishes. Personally don't like fish & chips so never even noticed it and if I did, it didn't register.
  12. If you had only booked an hour, I think the provider was justified in telling you time was about up. Didn’t you experience this in other activities in your life? At school, when I was sitting for exams we would be told near the end that we only had so much time to finish. That way you could decide what was important to finish and what to let go. That‘s one reason I avoid one hour sessions. Things tend to be too rushed. Except for massage. One hour is about right for that.
  13. That's probably average for what most of us experience. Some exceed, some live up to and others fall short. Not really out of line and at least in the future you can see the good ones again and be fairly confident about what you will experience.
  14. I might add this was in Rome many decades ago. He was studying at the Vatican. I always took a closer interest in Vatican affairs after that.
  15. They must have found out fairly quickly, even if the first reports to them were unclear.
  16. I'm having a hard time picturing that. Sucking toes and cock at the same time.
  17. The picture of Tiger Woods' car in the ravine reminds me of Princess Grace's car after she drove off the Moyenne Corniche in the south of France. I was living in Geneva and it was all over the news for weeks as she unfortunately died shortly afterwards. Neither she nor her daughter were wearing seat belts which probably contributed to her death, as she was slammed into the back seat with the steering wheel having struck her in the forehead. I imagine Tiger had his seat belt on.
  18. ???
  19. I won’t miss it when I get back to Montreal. I’m more concerned about what happens to Le Saloon which is for sale.
  20. I'm good at that too. Especially the details like dates, names, events in history etc. Which is why I am the unofficial historian in my town. I get invited to make a lot of speeches when anything historical is being celebrated.
  21. Similar to a post above about learning the death of JFK at a young age, I was 5 when King George VI died. As he was also the King of Canada, just as Elizabeth is our Queen, it was a big deal. No television then but my dad had heard about it on the morning news on the radio. When I got up, dad was shaving in the bathroom and he looked down on me and intoned, “the King is dead”. I just looked up at him and wondered what that meant. As I got older I realized the first big change in our lives as Canadians was that we got a new face on our dollar bill, that of his daughter, Elizabeth. And on our coins as well, and postage stamps, pictures hung up in classrooms. King’s highways became Queen’s highways, King’s Counsel (KC), Queen’s Counsel (QC)., etc. It was huge!
  22. Ten years ago I took in a stray dog who was wandering the street one block away from my house. I saw he was abandoned, collar but no tag, and took him home with me and my other dog, who was on the walk with me. I fed him and gave him water which he vacuumed and yes, he did shit on my dining room carpet. I cleaned up and kept him the night. My dog didn’t mind the company of the strange dog, and both were about the same size although the foundling was obviously underweight for his size. The house was quiet all night and I found the dog to be friendly and house trained after his initial accident which I put down to nerves. Long story short, I still have the dog, my other one died 2 years ago, and I love this dog every day more than the last.
  23. You win!
  24. The closest I got to him was in the fall of 2019 when I was in New York and with an escort who worked for Lucas Entertainment. He and Rocco were going out to Fire Island right after we were together for 2 days. I got in touch with my provider after the filming and asked him how it went. He said he got tucked by Rocco and enjoyed it. He was a top for me but I knew he could flip.
  25. Isn’t that amazing. The doctor who performed the operation was William W. Keen. He performed the first successful removal of a brain tumour in the United States, in the 1880s. Were any of the older buildings still standing in the 1960s or had it been rebuilt?
