  1. The financial firms that survived paid back. There were others that collapsed and took investors’ funds with them. As Warren Buffet said at the time, when the tide goes out you find out who is naked. Some were found to have evaded regulations but faced no repercussions. Homeowners were less fortunate and millions lost their homes.
  2. Monday’s market opening should be interesting. At this point any scenario is possible. The next 36 hours will tell.
  3. As I recall it was the margin buyers who got crushed. Relatively few short sellers came out winners. But on the latter I could be wrong. Memories fade. But the banks took a beating. I always thought that Obama should not have bailed them out to the extent he did.
  4. And the English called it plate.
  5. In all the overnight sessions I have done and they number in the dozens over the last decade, to set an arbitrary time period, I have only had one provider who came 4 times, and that was in two different sessions. Once before dinner, another in the evening before bed, in the middle of the of the night and then on waking up. I have seen him since but only for short sessions. He always cums in those too. He’s around 30 now so going back to our first date he was around 23 or 24. Youth is a wonderful thing.
  6. You obviously have not learned from the Epstein case that many professionals sucked up to him to gain money for their pet causes. These included professors, academics, university chancellors and more. If they were so well off why would they be seeking money from billionaires and their ilk?
  7. And I suppose these professors could also afford to pay for the maintenance on such a place with their multi million dollar salaries.
  8. Back in 2008 when markets crashed spectacularly, someone said “this is when money goes back to its rightful owners”. We could see it again.
  9. And this guy was a doctor and not from a monied family. Interesting comment on the health care system.
  10. Thanks. Up thread I opined this is how billionaires live and was rebuked by one or more posters that this was not so. Just mere millionaires. Another poster said the house was in an area that Henry Ford and his contemporaries favoured. Presumably this was before Grosse Point became popular amongst the rich. In any case the house is extravagant and reminiscent of the Gilded Age.
  11. The Dow Jones could hit 40,000 soon, on the way back down. 😆
  12. The literature from the period has stories about this. Tennessee Williams in his short story, Three for a Party, dealt with a gay man who liked RT and didn’t mind getting the odd black eye in pursuit of his fun.
  13. As it turned out, rough trade (RT). Back when being gay was illegal and there was no Rentmen, gays solicited RT in the rougher parts of town (often servicemen) and took their chances on getting roughed up or worse. Sal Mineo comes to mind. These days some people still do this and this doctor appears to be one of them.
  14. No matter how this turns out PV is going to lose some of its allure as a safe tourist destination.
  15. My only consoling thought is that it was the end of a long drought for the US men’s hockey team to win gold at the Olympics. For Canada they have won it in recent history twice. I think they said it was 40 years for the Americans. And our superstar, Sydney Crosbie, the captain, was injured in the semifinals and couldn’t play. He scored the winning goal in overtime in a previous Olympics to win gold.
  16. Shingles is a viral infection so I don’t know why you took antibiotics to treat it.
  17. I’m 78 and got two Shingles shots just over a year ago. I did it on the recommendation of my doctor. An older brother and younger sister both had severe cases a number of years ago but another brother never got it. Three weeks later I had a shingles outbreak on my lower left leg, not too extensive but very itchy and bothersome. It went away eventually but has returned three times in a less severe form in the same place. The thing that consoles me is had I not had the vaccine, maybe I would have had a more severe case.
  18. I think some here are not comprehending what is going on in Puerto Vallarta right now. The place is under attack by the drug cartels and residents are being told to shelter in place. Flights have been halted from Canada.
  19. Apparently the head of the drug cartel in Jalisco had been killed by federal forces thus accounting for the widespread violence in the state, including vPV.
  20. Today it was announced violence has broken out in Jalisco, the state in which Puerto Vallarta is located. Fires have broken out in PV. A travel advisory has been issued and all flights from Canada have been suspended. This could spoil the upcoming holidays for North Americans.
  21. The Versace case is not really comparable to this murder of a Detroit doctor by a male intimate partner. Versace hardly knew his killer, who had met him at a party, and amongst the other victims of Andrew Cunanon were his ex boyfriend, a cemetery worker who had a truck the killer wanted to escape, and a wealthy Chicago man who had once known him. The Detroit killing was not perpetrated by an escort in the business we all are interested in. I’m not sure there are any lessons I can take away from this case.
  22. Good question. The term provider seems to be one used to obfuscate the service being provided so that the sexual aspect is downplayed. When I interact personally with escorts I refer to them as such face to face and they have never objected to me using that term. When we’re in bed I sometimes call them lovers and that also seems to go over ok. They know I respect them and the service they provide.
  23. Well there’s some “heated rivalry” for sure.😆
  24. Has it been established that the US men’s hockey team will play Canada for gold on Sunday?
  25. Without knowing the backstory to the photo of Colton and Eli, the dog, I posted an lol emoji because they were both sticking out their tongues. The picture touched me in a special way because my first dog was a Black Labrador retriever. Sad to learn of the fate of Colton. Glad to hear Eli had a second life after the tragedy.
