I can't tell you what you need or what you should do, but I think it's helpful to think about a few things. First, nobody out there is going to fix you or make you whole. For the life of me I will never understand why people do this kind of sleuthing. Checking the review sites and anything related to their professional reputation is understandable, but the kind of sleuthing that so many people do is just a nice word for stalking and it puts you in this exact awkward situation.
