This first claim is a huge overstatement. There is no evidence for that proposition, and I’m being blunt here because this entire thread might begin to needlessly scare people who are in areas (such as NYC) where they don’t need to have fear of cops spending resources and time investigating gay men seeking time with other gay men. As of 2026, the states are nowhere near a situation where every state is “one legislative session away” from making buying sex a felony. Texas is the major outlier. It made paying for sex a state jail felony even for a first offense in 2021. If by “one legislative session away” you mean there is already a viable bill, political coalition, or near-term legislative pathway in every state, there is no evidence for that. Everyone, just look up your local area and see whether it is a concern for yourself. Do not conclude that you need to stop seeking services or time because of posts in this thread. I will continue to seek in NYC comfortably given the fact that this is not a focus of law enforcement in this city.

I second this. I’m never in fear about this kind of thing in NYC given the city’s lack of focus on these issues. I’m especially not worried about these issues when the new guy I’m seeing has at least 30+ reviews on RM.

Thank goodness I don’t live in one of these states. I feel for folks who do live in these areas. Regarding new providers, I wouldn’t necessarily rule out the seeking of non-regulars. Guys you haven’t seen yet and who are well-reviewed should always be an option, especially when their accounts are many years old.

It shouldn't be surprising to see so many gays like you willing to express their explicit racism. Just as you apparently like to predict the criminal inclination of an individual based on their race, I guess heterosexual parents should have the right to be uncomfortable leaving their children under the care or observation of a gay adult because gay sexual predator behavior towards children isn't a "one-off-story".

Finally, I think providers are catching on to the downsides of this- being scammed by clients themselves. I know three honest, excellent providers who have fallen victim to scam PayPal reversals. Im frequently seeing providers in NYC and Miami that say they only do Apple Cash and Physical cash only, in order to avoid being scammed by clients themselves.

The originator of the thread (who now deleted the racial comment) said that he now views Black guys differently. To base your evaluations and behavior towards all members of a racial group on your interactions with a one or a few, and to say that you do that without shame, is both disgusting and ignorant. I will remain vigilant of all who defend such explicit collective bias. And yes, you probably SHOULD avoid Black providers since you’re so scared. Dignified providers with pride in their racial identity would find it insulting to be having sex with someone who thinks that they, based on race, are more of a criminal threat

I would request a face picture first no matter what. It is a waste of your time and theirs if a conversation gets dragged on only to be fruitless after seeing incompatibility due to the face picture.

I will still say that it’s best to not start entire pages or investigations dedicated to particular clients. That would be invasive, and I’m sure no one else would want folks scrutinizing their own hiring so deeply. Picking a client apart/encouraging intrusive inquiries isn’t good, especially towards someone who hasn’t evidently done anything wrong or malicious.

I’m personally always either looking to see if a reliable regular is available (in which case I wouldn’t waste the time of another person by messaging them) or if exploring someone new, making sure they have a good reputation here suggesting punctuality and reliability. Therefore, I always choose to do option #1.
