Seems like a crazy business decision, however, business in Europe is a different animal than here in the U.S. From my days of business travel, I always had both a Visa and MC, because in Europe, you never knew which business accepted which card. While the above quote is true, there are many people who refuse to deal with acts of confrontation. In order to challenge a service provider in any way, the challenge requires social skill, sometimes an exercise in sensitivity, which could easily be interpreted as confrontational. Many, many people are simply incapable of going there. And on the other side of the coin, a customer never knows how a service provider might react when a customer confronts. Behavior could get very defensive and ugly on a dime. I agree, you pay for the service you get, not the service you booked but did not receive. I'm an anti-piercing guy. I can barely deal with tattoos.
