"average rates" is another perennial topic here on the forum....... though things (milk, bread, a new car, a hooker, a gallon of gas) are certainly more expensive than they were forty years ago, the general consensus over the years is that there is no such thing as an average rate.......occasional haggling, multi-hour discounts, specials for regulars, upselling, is rent due?? all throw efforts to find an average number into a complicated mess..... best thing to do is stick with vetted and reviewed providers, find somebody who appeals, ignore previously-discussed or published existing rates, and discreetly discuss what you like......don't associate money with acts......then ask his rate for xx hours for his time only and see if it passes your cost-benefit analysis......

as always, it's best to politely discuss things with the provider himself......as much as we'd all like to think all providers treat all clients the same, it just ain't true......respect, professionalism, discretion, hygiene, the whole bit, goes a long way.......(I'm sure you knew all this, by the way!)
