RuPaul and husband spend a lot of time on their 60000 acre ranch that includes a fortified underground bunker. I tend to be disappointed RuPaul arrived at such a pessimistic worldview that such a bunker is needed. I am not criticizing him. I am just sorry that someone like RuPaul is no longer hopeful. They are not billionaires, but an example that preparing for post appocolyptic America is a personal investment decision people are making.

When a provider 'shorts you on time'
TonyDown replied to Ali Gator's topic in Questions About Hiring
When the provider quotes the massage rate, I ask if that is a full hour. Sometimes it isn't, right? I figured if I'm shorted, then no tip, and probably no repeat booking. -
David Geffen, 82 files for divorce from Donovan Michaels, 32
TonyDown replied to Ali Gator's topic in The Lounge
Now it sounds like Michaels has a beef, that he was mistreated. At least he has his own lawyer and filed a lawsuit claiming so. I'm curious how the lawyers will work it out. Image from linked article, Hollywood Reporter -
The Last Black Man in San Francisco
TonyDown replied to TonyDown's topic in TV and Streaming services
One of those films I wish I'd seen in a theater. -
The Last Black Man in San Francisco is a semi autobiographical story. The film was created by friends that met during their youth. When I saw it was on Cinemax tonight I was moved to watch. Glad I did. Reviews were all over the map. One review gave a 100. So I'm not the only one that loved it. A beautiful, poignant film. Streaming on Cinemax and on various platforms.

I remember feeling obligated to respond to all emails and texts. But you aren't really obligated. Yup, it does sound annoying, but perhaps he doesn't realize you find him aggressive. It sounds like you engage him with frequent replies. Will he stop with the frequent texts, if you stop replying so much?

I had a similar thought. Soon enough, his and other fortunes may be lost.

Who is still watching? Surprised to see the Andrea Martin cameo, S3 e5. Madame Dashkova! Love her.

CBS will end 'The Late Show' with Stephen Colbert in 2026
TonyDown replied to Ali Gator's topic in TV and Streaming services
Will be curious to see how Late Night wraps up, if they play a lot of reruns, book a lot of Colbert's favorite guests, etc. FYI, Colbert did the voice of Ace 20+ years ago. I wonder where his career will head next. -

Johnny Carson kept poking NBC for years, in more ways than one! -
I have never tracked my expenses. My financial advisor suggested it recently. Sounds like Quicken is the preferred tool.

Is Florida real estate bubble about to burst?
TonyDown replied to marylander1940's topic in Personal Finance & Investing
Newsweek reported this week how HOAs are ruining the Florida condo market. Florida condo prices plunge in multiple cities WWW.NEWSWEEK.COM Florida condo prices have plummeted since July 2024, as rising HOA fees and high insurance premiums hit the oversupplied... Also, this week I listened to an insurance adjuster explaining how inflated home insurance premiums are impacting Florida. News articles report insurance companies are pulling out of Florida. Sounds like a crisis, although the news media tends to exagerate. Still, who is buying Florida in this market? -
Barbara Walters - Tell Me Everything

Anyone remember her interviewing Richard Gere, bringing up a gay role he performed on stage? She made it seem nearly scandalous, as if he should be concerned what will people think, and even suggested Gere played the role a little bit TOO good (wink, wink ). His response was perfect, that he wasn't worried. After all, "there's nothing wrong with being gay" you silly old bag. (I added the last part,😉) -
CBS will end 'The Late Show' with Stephen Colbert in 2026
TonyDown replied to Ali Gator's topic in TV and Streaming services
I remember when CBS launched The Late Show, with host David Letterman. That was a big deal, due to the NBC/Jay Leno kerfuffle. The expectation was Letterman was next in line for The Tonight Show. He then hosted The Late Show for 22 years, followed by Colbert. CBS recently let go of the After Midnight show. Corporate media is making claims that late night talk shows are too expensive to create. Daytime dramas have been nearly wiped out by talk shows over the last 10+ years. Apparently daytime talk is much cheaper to produce. I wouldn't miss the daytime talk shows if they disappeared but I will miss Colbert. I did attend a late night talk show once. Was a blast ❤️!! -
I follow Neil Sedaka, who was recently on a Caleb Simpson vlog. ❤️ Anyway, he credits Connie Francis for making one of his songs a hit. TikTok - Make Your Day WWW.TIKTOK.COM

Paying an Executor and Successor Trustee
TonyDown replied to TonyDown's topic in Personal Finance & Investing
That amount sounds close to what the professional trustee outfit wanted for compensation. Ultimately I was not impressed with their process or price. Checking with your bank sounds like a good idea. I learned about an example where a client needed an ongoing POA, and used a fiduciary at their bank. -
Paying an Executor and Successor Trustee
TonyDown replied to TonyDown's topic in Personal Finance & Investing
That's an important point. What to compensate the POA, especially if the effort continues for years. I followed up with an estate lawyer regarding industry standard compensation for successor trustee. She quoted 1%, and since my estate is simple, my sense is 1% an upper limit. So, again, that aligns with the above comment. Also told the lawyer the rate for a professional trustee seemed excessive to me. Sounds like I was correct. Unnecessary, if family can perform the role. -
Paying an Executor and Successor Trustee
TonyDown replied to TonyDown's topic in Personal Finance & Investing
I am creating a revocable trust and will assign a successor trustee as part of my estate plan. My estate is not complex, so in this case I wanted to understand what is typical for compensating the role, if it's a family member. A 1% fee mentioned above seems reasonable for my successor trustee and executor, compared to the fee schedule professional fiduciaries quoted to me. -
Sinner was on! Will Alcaraz and Sinner achieve a legendary rivalry like Federer/Nadal? The Princess of Wales looked stunning during the trophy ceremony. 🙏🏻 Watching this tournament, what struck me was the level of sportsmanship displayed, especially the kind words from both Anisimova and Alcatraz after losing.

Now that you've invested and saved, you may want to set up your estate to avoid probate and assure your legacy goes to the right place, right? I looked into having a professional fiduciary act as my trustee and executor of my will. One takeaway is how much $$ they pay themselves seems a lot. I'd rather have a family member be responsible and have them receive payment for the effort. Also the two professional outfits I contacted did not give me much confidence. So here is my question. My question is for those that have worked on your estate planning, and not using a professional successor trustee or/and have been named as executor or successor trustee by someone else. How much does the estate pay those roles, and how does that process work? I have done some internet searching on this and will do more. But am hoping to benefit from first hand experience you might share.

According to the TV comments, Swiatek had never advanced past the quarterfinals. Glad I don't gamble. I would lose my shirt on the Women's draw.
