  1. I kept asking myself why the film seemed to pander so blatantly and, for many, so offensively. Like the video above said. "No nuance." By the end I didn't care, nor understand how the story seemed to go off the rails. Such a great cast though. I expect it sounded good on paper. They tried. 👍
  2. I watched it again tonight. I was in a better frame of mind. Good movie! Glad I gave it a 2nd chance. The film is very long and has a lot of violence. Lot of characters. I especially liked Benicio del Toro. I recommend paying close attention to all the plot points. I had to do an Internet search a couple of times to confirm how an outcome was possible. Also, remember Pike from Big Eden? Eric Zweig has a minor role but an important one.
  3. Maybe I'm the last to know, but you can stream movies for free, with commercials, on YouTube's Movies and TV channel. Today I watched the TV production of Cinderella from 1965, starring Ginger Rogers, Celeste Holm, Pat Carroll and Lesley Ann Warren as Cinderella. Also watched Just Like Heaven (2005) with Reese Witherspoon and Mark Ruffalo. Love them, especially Ruffalo. The plot was a stretch, but they're a winning pair. There is a large assortment of old movies and TV shows to choose.
  4. Former hockey player Jesse Kortuem will appear on The Drew Barrymore show tomorrow, talking about the positive reflection of gay athletes offered by Heated Rivalry. A special moment happens on the show, already posted on the Internet. So if you'd rather be surprised, I won't reveal what happens with Drew. You can search for it or just watch tomorrow. Was nice to see her show adding more voices to what's good about Heated Rivalry. On Andy Cohen's show, Cohen asked Francois Arnaud a personal question. Arnaud immediately shut it down. IMO the entertainment media needs to be a little more clever about all of their bullshit personal questions.

  6. Those interviewers could ask if his father approved of Connor's prior role where he plays a psychotic murderer, a role that shows him stabbing an inmate to death. Either case, it's acting. I wish Connor's agent would get in front of these unnecessary questions about Connor's personal life. The one vlog I listened to explained the parents were more interested in the emotional honesty and the professional opportunity the role represents.

  8. Sluts in Huntington Beach? What???? 🤣🤣🤣
  9. The YouTube channel PrideFlix mentioned an old film out of East Germany called Coming Out (1989). PrideFlix uses a computer generated voice and does not always pull together the most worthy narrative but it's still a channel to hear about gay movies. Coming Out sounded interesting so I checked Kanopy and found it there. I like German film. For me, Coming Out is a well done drama, focusing on the challenge of a gay school teacher living in the closet, and the sacrifices of that. The movie does a good job covering the context and the irony of being closeted in communist East Germany. It was filmed just before German reunification. Glad I watched it.
  10. I paid more attention during epi 4 re-watch and noticed Miles is hot. ❤️ He has a thing for Shane. All the Things She Said is so perfect for that disco scene. I see the official music video on YouTube has over 500,000,000 views, while there are many other versions, mixes and covers with millions and millions of views. Is it ironic that song was written and performed by Russian artists, yet Heated Rivalry is banned there while same sex affection is punishable? The song itself evokes F/F love which fits the show's theme. Official Music Video, 502,000,000 views. Performed on Swedish TV over 20 years ago. Cover by Kelly Clarkson Original Music Video in Russian
  11. What did your friends mean by new execs? I read they had laid off execs. Casey Bloys has been at HBO for years. They have consistently programmed a lot of gay content and gay characters during his time. HBO has been a major supporter of the OutFest film festival for years and most recently was the presenting sponsor at OutFest Next event last Fall. Since then they decided to stream Heated Rivalry. Whoever made that happen at HBO Max is getting some attention. Casey Bloys has publicly celebrated Heated Rivalry's success. https://www.wbd.com/leadership/casey-bloys
  12. I'll watch One Battle After Another again before I make up my mind. Great cast. Timely theme.
  13. A recent Newsweek piece reported the condo market in Florida is still not good. Florida Condo Drops Price Nearly 50% as Housing Market Struggles WWW.NEWSWEEK.COM A condo property located on 1 Beach Dr in Saint Petersburg dropped 49 percent in value over the last 10 years.
  14. Anyone remember when Dilbert had a big windfall and decided to spend it on a super computer? I remember the sales guy character in that strip. 😆. The Elbonia strips were clever.
  15. Love that tunnel scene filmed in Hamilton. So well shot! I saw that tunnel on a YouTube vlog. During the daytime one might never guess it would make such a perfect scene.
  16. I can see why one might consider the area more conservative, but voting results in Camarillo may not support that. Interesting observations, I stayed at a hotel in Camarillo on Thanksgiving and joined with a friend at a nearby Blank Angus restaurant that night. I noticed many diverse same-sex couples and groups were dining there, Some of the staff also appeared to be "family". We were treated well. The next day I ate at a restaurant near downtown Camarillo where my waiter was gay and the hostess was lesbian. So I came away from that trip with the opinion Camarillo is a live-and-let-live area, that there are a lot of "us" over there. I'm confused how Stern could plan to pay for consensual sex, yet the ad turned out to be planted by the police. Is that the worst case of what you guys call "taking one for the team"? I always have the facts before I hire, though I tend to hire for massage. Even then, why take chances?
  17. I recall, when he was a rising young celebrity, publicity about his using a homophobic slur, which disappointed me because of who his father was. Sounds like he still has some bad habits. Not surprised about his Uber incident.
  18. I had a college roommate that thought he was a comedian, e.g. he would often ask "Would you like a little cream in your coffee?" (ba-dump bump) I follow this vlog called @thespicynonna from Niagara in Canada about this young (and cute) fellow's Italian-Canadian grandmother. Often the channel is about his grandfather who is quite creative and clever. This latest vlog below shows the grandfather making espresso coffee with sugar, egg yolk and hazelnut liquor. I have never tried this kind of coffee. Have you? Looks yummy. So does the grandson. 😉 Do you have a special approach to preparing your coffee? (FYI the granddaughter has her own YouTube Vlog about dog grooming with over a million subscribers.)
  19. I used to like Craig Melvin, but his interview attempt with Connor kinda sucked. But Connor himself is shining right now through all of his publicity appearances. 💚
  20. That was great when Ayo Edebiri joined the interview with Connor. I love her so much. I immediately started brainstorming, Connor could join The Bear. He has that energy. Anyway, that was perfect, Gayle King got those two together That said, Connor had a good interview with Seth Meyers tonight. He was brilliant. Coming back from commercial they played the tunnel scene with Moonlight Sonata playing. The audience loved that.
  21. I watched the Peach Bowl on ESPN. Indiana was impressive. I reminisced how our dormitory house drove to Atlanta for the Peach Bowl, longtime ago, when it was a minor bowl. While in Atlanta we ventured to a restaurant bar on the upper floors of the Peachtree Plaza Hotel and then down to Underground Atlanta in a bar where cute college boys from the opposing school joined at our table. Together, we raised toasts and sang along as a bluegrass band attempted to play our respective fight songs. What fun that was for a bunch of small town boys!
  22. For example, on REDDIT, after a post claimed gay men and women are watching, several fans posted they were straight men and some mentioned watching with a wife or girlfriend. On YouTube, these straight guys are talking about Heated Rivalry, how good episode 5 is, and how everyone is watching Heated Rivalry.
  23. By now, from what I've read this weekend, it's not only queer people and M/M spicy romance novel fans watching Heated Rivalry on HBOmax and Crave, there are straight guys watching, lots of them. Between Youtube vlogs and REDDIT posts, many straight guys seem to be watching with their girlfriends, wives and buddies. All the Things She Said is now mainstream music at hockey rinks. From Vromans' bookstore in Pasadena , .....and NYT today
