I also like it when I find someone on both rent sites, as it gives me a hint as to what might happen. If his escort profile says vers or bottom, bonus! The fetishes he indicates are sometimes helpful, too.  Also, if he indicates PnP, then that’s a red flag, and I avoid even a massage from the guy.

I was thinking the same thing. One guy I had many years ago did a superb massage. Soon after he rolled me over, he positioned himself into 69 and swallowed me whole. Since it was early in the day and I was in the Union Square area with my neck and shoulders bothering me, I decided to try East Men for the first time. It seemed that Matthew, the manager, was the only one present.  I asked for and hour massage, which he agreed to.
Although the facility was like others have previously described, (thin walls where you can hear everything going on both inside, outside, above, and next door) there weren't too many sounds that took away from the overall experience. Plus, they had music playing which masked the sounds to an extent. The first massage room, near the reception desk,  was narrow with a sliding door and became fairly dark when the door was closed.
Matthew gave me good massage combining therapeutic and very sensual elements. We went the full hour (55 minutes of massage with 5 minutes to clean up). He didn't rush at all and although we didn't talk to each other too much, he did check in to see how it felt.
What impressed me most was that he also did  a combination of aromatherapy with  acupressure techniques on my sinuses, head and neck which felt amazing. (He asked before doing it and I forgot what he called it).
I would consider returning at a later time in the day to try out some of the other guys but this experience was a solid A-/B+

I have to second this verdict.
Nice guy, excellent communication, good massage but something just felt "off" - perhaos that if why I forgot about the experience very soon after the appointment ended.

I finally took the plunge a few months ago when I was in town and was disappointed. Overpriced and underwhelmed…He is nice. He has a hot body. But the massage wasn’t worth the price point for me. One of my more disappointing experiences. 

This is way off base. Yes I get your point but there’s a tone that being older absolves you of responsibility. I’m over 65 and to act as though I have no control over my body is absurd. I completely reject this. 

You may have missed some opportunities, but your approach sounds very respectful towards the providers - which is far more important in my opinion.

I rarely get massages in spas. When I have, however, they have been strictly therapeutic. Similarly to what was previously mentioned, the vast majority of independent masseurs I have hired didn't drape. Some offered, and I declined. I don't remember the last time I was draped. The majority of these masseurs also provided a sensual/erotic experience without me asking. I've hired guys with masseurfinder ads that focused on their training and professionalism and included pics of them in scrubs who I assumed would be strictly therapeutic but ended up being quite interactive. I've also hired guys who had ads that I believed hinted at extras (e.g., showing off body in pics, checking "sensual" on rentmasseur) but provided none.  I just go with the flow and, at a minimum, hope for a good massage.
Most M4M masseurs know that many, if not most, of their male clients would welcome an HE. If the masseur offers no evidence that extras are an option, I tend to not try to test his boundaries. I recognize, however, that I might have missed some opportunities with this approach. 

Hopefully he is more genuine than the packed sock in picture number 3. 

If you have time to casually announce that you’re going to cut the stilton, you have time to get up and use the restroom.  Nobody’s saying people don’t fart; just be respectful of other people.  It’s not your place to decide for others whether they should be ok with having to smell your rank internal organ odor.  Massage therapists didn’t sign up for that.
I’m still in total disbelief that the OP thinks it was the masseur’s reaction that killed the mood, and not his proclamation of flatulence.

Recently I laid down on the table of a good looking muscle guy for a nice massage. About fifteen minutes in my stomach rumbled and I suddenly needed to fart. So I said, "Hey I need to fart, OK?" The response was something like, "OMG GO TO THE BATHROOM. HURRY!" It wasn't like I was gonna take a dump on his mother's oriental. I just needed to pass gas, then get back to the massage. His frantic response killed the mood so I just laid there and said I'm ok now. A few minutes later I said that was enough, thank you; got dressed, paid, and walked out the door. Weird experience all around.
