  1. I have a bad reaction to one type of alcohol. It is a little number known as Toomch. It wipes out my memory and gives me a terrible headache in the morning.
  2. I had posted this in the lounge as I was hoping to get some insight into the history of homosexuality in the western movement. TV was only the trigger to the question. I guess it was moved as the TV portion seemed to be the lead and the responses follow that. Still, if anyone has insight into homosexuality in the emerging western US, I would be interested in learning about it. A cursory Google of same revealed very little information.
  3. Even the very beginning of the Rifleman has a rather long close up of his crotch, though there is no discernible bulge shown. Chuck Connors was 6 foot 6 inches so I would hope he would have had at least 6 inches elsewhere but they probably made him tuck for that shot. Not so Robert Conrad on the Wild Wild West his pants were so tight you could just about make out if he was circumcised or not.
  4. Briefly, people from the forum get together for dinner, pool party and mischief during the second weekend in April. All are invited. I believe this is the 16th year.
  5. I have been unemployed or semiretired or too old to be hired or in some manner and form, home during the day. The cold weather has led to my wanting to be in the house and I have taken to watching old westerns on Me TV. I find the simple story lines and bad black and white scenery fun. It is quite a jolt when Bonanza comes on and is in color. It seems to be the sub rosa gay themes or the blantant homosexual overtures of the shows is something that either escaped the censors or was not felt to be picked up by the general tv viewing public at the time. Several recent story lines have involved troubled and hunky young men being befriended and taken in to live with an older and still quite hunky lonely rancher living in a surprisingly spacious and well appointed cabin with one bedroom and one bed. Today the Rifleman took in an educated young man who thinks of himself as a coward after he fails to stand up to some bullies dressed in very tight pants and leather vests. The bullies come out and torture the poor soul at the Rifleman's cabin and the Rifleman comes to his aid chasing off the bullies. The bullies return the next day with several more tightly muscled ranch hands in very tight pants who as a group pummel the Rifleman and then the leader of the bullies beats the Rifleman and leaves him sprawled out gasping for air. The self proclaimed coward grabs a gun and runs off the gang only after humiliating the head of the bullies by sexily grunting out at him that if he did not stop he was going to shoot. This leads the rest of the group to leave and the leader leaves humiliated. After the group has left, the Rifleman tells the coward how proud he is of him as the coward wraps his arms around the Rifleman and ushers him into the house. The last shot is of the door closing behind them. Basically, I am left wondering how prevalent homosexuality was in the Wild Wild West. Not the TV show, rather the actual western US. It seems that the number of men far outnumbered the number of women. Even if they went out west with a wife, the rate of childbirth deaths and other causes of youthful demise must have left plenty of men without partners. Anyone here have any knowledge of the gay life in the developing west in the mid 1800's?
  6. I also have an extra roomed book should there be a need. But now that Ace will not be at Canyon Club the draw is going to be down. Of course, where one has a room and where one stays for the night in Palm Springs are only tangentially connected.
  7. Lion in Winter is one of my favorite movies and about 6 months ago I took in a local production of the play. The play was wonderful but afterwards, my companion was a Lion in the Bedroom which is even better.
  8. Actually several men on this forum have gotten raised by basketballer even though they have never met.
  9. Just confirmed my reservations at Rouge and my train gets in at 4:15 Does that give me enough time to get from Union Station to Rouge to check in and then to the host hotel to have a few drinks with the fellows? Remember I am old and tend to get lost. LOL
  10. I guess Jack Nicholson was right, all you need are a Few Good Men. You want the truth You need my on your bed. You want me on your bed. Or some such. I always find these statistics interesting and fun. When I ran my business I kept track of how many patients came in each day. Each day of the week. Which hours in 2 hour blocks. Of course by the month. New patients vs established patients. Insured patients vs uninsured patients. The number of patients from the individual insurance companies. Some of it was of value and some was just for curiosity. For Some reason in the 22 years I had this office, April 27th was my least busy day and December 28th was my busiest day. Spring lull and Winter rush with all the other docs on vacation I came to surmise.
  11. I do not know why I find this response so funny. I hope you decide to venture out it is great fun and there are just so many weekends that we have, but from the sounds of that tune you seem to be dancing around a no. So forget about definitely seriously looking into trying to attend and instead attend. Jump in, the water is fine and depending on where you stay, clothing optional.
  12. Actually i was thinking about this on the way home today when I heard another Cher song on the radio. He did a magnificent job and I believe you can see Cher wiping away a tear. Who could blame her?
  13. Once the basketball game goes well, consider bringing them to Palm Springs LOL
  14. Yeah snooping into other people's lives without their permission is always a temptation that should be denied. If you do not feel safe, do not hire him. Who you going to believe. his facebook page or your personal experience with this man? I would trust myself and say nothing about the social media, but my insight into people has usually led me down the right path.
  15. There is a fictionalized version with strong historical accuracy detailing Mary Queen of Scots by Margaret George. She also wrote a rather compelling novel, the Autobiography of Henry VIII which is also a page turner.
  16. Queen Mary (Bloody Mary) could have brought Queen Mary of Scotland, her cousin, to England to assume the throne upon her death. That would have kept the Catholic monarchy line which Mary wanted and prevented her half-sister Elizabeth from assuming the throne which Catholics felt did not belong to the protestant bastard. Of course Mary of England had assumed the throne from her Protestant Brother Edward, who by the standards that had named Elizabeth a bastard, should have named him a bastard as well. In any case, Edward's will and supporters tried to name Mary illegitimate and named his cousin Lady Jane Grey as rightful queen. Before her coronation, Lady Grey's support weakened as Mary's increased and Jane was out and imprisoned and Mary was in. Turn about is fair play and Elizabeth eventually got the throne and Mary of Scotland got the prison and then the axe as the Protestants held sway. Mary of Scotland perhaps got the last laugh, though it would have been a ghostly laugh, when her son James I of England, James VI of Scotland assumed the throne of both countries after the death of first his mother, a woman he did not know while he was an adult, and then Elizabeth. It seems fairly well documented that Elizabeth was tempted to meet Mary her cousin but was advised not to do so and never did. She eventually signed her death warrant.
  17. A direct invitation from the host. How can you turn that down?
  18. What is he having for lunch? If it is a chicken sandwich there may be some sort of telepathic chicken connection.
  19. It never really seemed that this story would go any other way, at least to us here on the forum. I imagined you considered just about every way it could go and so I only can imagine your trepidation at the onset and your relief at the end. I am glad that the conversation started with a confirmation of your love for their mother. That seems to be a critical factor to me. In any case, this is only the end of the beginning, Next, the next chapter or your life and hopefully as uplifting an outcome. By the way....DC meeting.....Friday at the IML. Come for a drink, stay for the entertainment.
  20. In any case, isn't that the biggest lie anyone can tell, that they will always be truthful with you? Believe that one and I have a bridge for sale.
  21. There are so many factors. Is this a first time still birth or has this happened before? Did the couple have trouble getting pregnant? How is his wife handling it? At 24 weeks, some fetuses can survive. I think offering condolences and waiting for him to return in his own good time is the respectful thing to do. After my wife's death, I returned to work in 4 days. The house seemed so empty and mournful. Work was not much better but there were other people and distractions and ultimately I was able to get the condolences period of the grieving period out of the way. For me, that was the most difficult. I needed to grieve but I did not necessarily want to share my grief so condolences, while appreciated, kept the unpleasant memories recurring and blocked the joyous ones from becomings the prominent ones. Perhaps your colleague feels likewise.
  22. Calendars such as this make me think perhaps I am not attracted to men. 47 pictures and only two that move the dial at all, Intellectually I know they are extraordinarily good looking men. However, they do not seem to move my testosterone level enough to get a stirring in the groin. Perhaps they are a bit too cutesy and the guys a bit too clean cut.
  23. If you like largely endowed body builder tops, Vin Marco goes to Palm Springs as needed. He lives about 45 minutes away.
  24. I remember this as a great human interest story in the NYC area when it first happened. Wonder if they are close now.
  25. So then you are saying that when he tweeted the he was alone, that was a lie. Wow, I got my Christmas wish of having you admit you are working for a liar. There is a god!!!!
