I have had luck with this as well. So my original regular provider and I became fast friends and we did have the very serious talk about when it's the job and when it's not. We both completely agreed on his to handle that and eventually it grew into becoming am one of the closest relationships I've ever had with someone. He's no longer working, but that never stopped us from talking every day and seeing each other when we wanted to.
And with my current regular, that too grew to be a very good friendship and now it's come to the point that, as long as I let him know beforehand, I can go to his place just to chill with him or while he's out working and wait for him to come back. Have a key to his place and everything. And we had that talk as well, but that one was very quick because we already knew what that fine line looks like.
And one final provider I'm actually building that relationship with at the moment. The one is still new, but we both see it becoming a friendship.
For me personally, I believe as long as you are open and honest with each other and can have those talks about work vs friends, it really can become a good friendship. Honesty and clear communication are key, as well as chemistry between the client and provider to be able to get that connection.

I have a provider that had a difficult personal situation to deal with. I told him I won't contact him for a few weeks while he attended to his personal life. He said he thinks of us more like friends and to please do stay in touch which really melted my heart.
I really like this guy but I'm conscious that I'm a client and I don't want to encroach on his private life. He has casually dismissed that sentiment when I've mentioned it to him previously but I want to stay realistic even if I am delusional about my intention to marry him 😝
Should he choose it, he should be able to cut ties with me and this work whenever he wants. This is a job, not an obligation.

It’s possible for sure. However, some escorts are struggling with the choice they made to be an escort in the first place. And once they get out of the “business “, want no ties or reminders of the past. They feel they must cut all ties. This is currently happening to me. Despite all the hours of fun and meaningful conversations we had together my guy needs a complete break from the past. He wants me out. I have to respect this for his own well being and mental health. But it’s definitely not easy.

I wouldn't even consider moving anywhere where I didn't already speak the language.  To expect yourself to learn a new language in addition to everything else just is a lot to ask of yourself.   I have already decided that I will not move out of the country, but I am keeping Canada as an option if things get too weird in the US.  I was saying to a freind just the other day that it would be good idea to establish what the trigger would be for leaving the US.  Lots of German Jews got caught because they kept putting off leaving - they hadn't identified a triggering circumstance so it was easy to keep putting it off.

True - it is a personal issue.  But loneliness among the elderly is a widespread problem, right here in the US.  Add in the complicating factors of being a stranger in a strange land, a language barrier, gay in a Latin country - and you have loneliness waiting to happen.    Being a tourist is a different thing - its their job to be nice to you.  I'm sure the Portuguese are lovely - but they already have lives.  They aren't sitting around waiting to befriend the next expat American who moves in down the road.

Back on the topic, I wanted to mention how struck I was by my NHS care in the UK as it compared to the US. Here it seems doctors are often very rushed and don’t take time to really dig into the issue. Especially if it’s something difficult to pin down.

In the UK I had the (admittedly anecdotal) opposite experience. With two separate heath issues, the doctors I encountered took the time for very thorough questions about medical history and symptoms. A 30+ minute discussion is a rarity in the US and it seems I’m often suggested a pill to take to see if it helps… “come back if you’re still having trouble.” But in the UK, careful discussion  yielded great results for me.

I’m generalizing of course about US care. And I will admit that the many Brits in my life seem to have a low opinion of NHS. They all seem to have private insurance.

It’s very sad but I’m not surprised by this. Generally I find both Portuguese and Spanish people to be very polite, but those living in rural areas tend to be rather more conservative.
I can relate two direct experiences of life in rural Catalonia (the province of which Barcelona is the main city).
First, I had a younger Catalan partner and we had a house in the countryside. I made a big effort (trying to speak Catalan, sharing produce from our fruit trees, inviting neighbours to dinner etc) - my point is that I was expected to make the effort because I was the foreigner. There was an Englishman (40s) living nearby but he made no effort to be nice to his neighbours, so they neglected to invite him to various gatherings.
Second, there was a rather handsome young police officer (20s) in the rural force. He was friendly and I had a sense that he might be gay. So we invited him to dinner one night and he confided in us. He, locally born and raised, lamented how difficult it was to find a partner. We urged him to move into Barcelona: he did and joined the police there, and now has a partner.

    Each morning I...

    Tumble out of bed
    And stumble to the kitchen
Pour myself a cup of ambition
And yawn and stretch and try to come to life Jump in the shower
    And the blood starts pumpin'
Out on the streets, the traffic starts jumpin'

You should be able to browse freely.  The massage therapist can engage by saying "hey there, how are you".... You are not obligated to reply back, but if you're interested, obviously you probably would reply back, and that's being kind of the masseur to recognize you viewed their profile.. Nothing more, the decision is all yours😁

I keep in touch with several young men who used to do massage(+more). All of them departed NYC but always ask to see me out for a drink when they are back in town. I keep a casual friendship going through social media. Facebook/ Instagram/ Twitter.

Sure it's possible.   I have 3 clients that were (and are)  friends.    It requires a serious conversation about responsibility and the fine line between work  (escorting)  and friendship.   The lines cannot be blurred.   If booked,  I expect to be paid as with any client.    Because they have been friends,  my responsibilities to them are not any different.     I would say I have several clients (who I met from booking)  who are "friendly with me"  if I see them outside a booking.    Not sure I can say we are "friends",   but I haven't had any issues in this area to date.

That's how I contact providers, although I don't like to do "follow up" texts unless I forgot to ask them something.

I do read escorts' ads ahead of time.

That being said, if a provider told me to "read his ad" in the manner described here, I would instantly judge that he has an attitude, and stop the conversation.

A similar incident happened. I was going to order an Uber for a provider, and asked if he needed one, but he replied with a sarcastic, "Oh, an Uber is extra now?" Again, that attitude made me cut him off.

I've never been in a situation like that, so I can't be sure,  but I just don't think I would care.  Obviously, the guy needs social skills, but why not choose somebody who's drop-dead handsome?  I don't feel like I have anything to hide. For years, I have thought about hiring a guy to go to church with me.  I love midnight mass on Christmas Eve and my husband won't go because he hates Christianity.  It would be great to make an evening of it with a guy who looks terrific in a nice suit, have dinner before, and turn heads when we walk into Grace Cathedral.  Actually, my husband would be completely OK with it.

I wouldn't say they're 'in demand,' but being a great actual escort requires a lot more intellect, conversational skill, eye for detail and organization.
It's not something every guy can do, which is why many escorts are best left hired for a single hour at a time.
A gent who's able to effortlessly combine the two has cracked the code:  A guy who's fun in bed, but also mentally stimulates you as well.

Total bump. Tried him a few years back, he plays a lot of games and he tried the 4-hand offer and had someone in the apartment with him he's a scammer. He's creepy and I felt VERY uncomfortable with him, beware of this one.
