I have just been reading comments on this sauna on the Boytoy site. Not wildly enthusiastic. If I go it will be in mid summer, any comments based on recent experience and what could be expected in mid summer appreciated.
Opera Australia mounted a production of this piece as a vehicle for Joan Sutherland in the 1980’s. I vividly remember the sub editors headline on the review in “The Australian “ newspaper. “Chilea’s Trashy Score”.
I’m from Sydney currently on holidays in Bangkok and a long way away from New York however Wickedboy has intrigued me for some time. The effusive praise on this forum and the rapturous poetry he has inspired on Rentmen reviews. Will you satisfy my curiosity. Have you found him yet?
“Opera” magazine used to have an excellent New York reviewer Martin Bernheimer. Has there ever been an opera critic with such a wonderful way with words?
I am not angry. I'm a great believer in keeping discussions on these message forums civil. My comments are greatly influenced by a major article in "The Sydney Morning Herald'' about 2 years ago about the crime problem in Mexico in particular Acapulco which as I said earlier is now the centre of drug wars. Its a great pity because Acapulco was a beautiful beach resort and I enjoyed my 2 visits.
PS I remember an occasion when I under tipped a waiter in a quality hotel restaurant in Mexico City. He expressed his displeasure in no uncertain terms.
