Maybe he's busy, maybe not.  It doesn't sound like he's been actually rude, unless he's asking for much more details than needed to set up the appointment.
If you think he's leading you on, it's a good sign to look for another guy.  There's not much else to do since your not out any money and haven't met yet.

From the amounts of cash that were cited, $40 and $80 in two cases specifically, we're not talking about RM hookups. Or if we are, how do I get these rates?

The article doesn't say if they targeted any gay escort sites or not.  Most of it appears to be targeting straight escorts.  That could easily change however.
The sheriff is clearly using these operations as easy publicity going after people the voters in his county will have little sympathy for.  Helping real victims of sex trafficing is a mere justification.  They say they found a few trafficing victims, but a tiny fraction of the people they arrested.  The press conference where the sheriff singles out the people they caught and identifies if they were married or where they worked is definately intended to pander to the voters in that county.
Assuming the cops were posing as escorts of legal age, targeting the guys who respond does nothing to find trafficers or their victims.  Neither does targeting sex workers who are operating independently.
Sadly sex work between consenting adults is illegal in most of the US and law enforcement operations like this keeps the stigma going.  This should be a reminder to know a bit about the jurisidiction before working or hiring there.

I was humored when I read on here a while back of some clients who don't like it when escorts have alternative sources of income and financial independence outside the job. That told me everything I needed to know about some of the personalities who inhabit these spaces.

Twinks do just fine in this business. There are clients who actively search for new twinks and you may get bombarded with messages the instant you put your ad up. At least that is what happened to me when I started in the era of rentboy and men4rentnow. Eventually after a few weeks or months the demand plateaus and evens out to something manageable and less...insane. Then all the bombardment of excited crazed messages go to the next twink who put their ad up seven days ago. Over time you make more through quality not quantity of clients (though the latter helps as well). Develop a good base of regulars and you can do this for a long time. Sex is only part of the job for certain clientele (though never an insignificant part).

Yeah no. Even if the economy tanks I still get to decide who I meet. That's a perk that comes with the job to the dismay of many who wish or happen to think otherwise. Deal with it.

I've actually been accused of being unreasonable with my cancellation policy. Of course, as we all know, complete and utter nonsense sometimes goes with the territory in this line of work.

No, we have a dick and body we decide over. I call the shots with my body, pal. This is a two-way deal. I'm not excusing being two hours late, anything past 30 minutes is unacceptable. Hell, anything past 10 minutes without a text is unacceptable but this sentiment, it is exactly the kind of sentiment I spoke of in other threads as to why many escorts leave after 1-2 years and why there will always continually be a high turnover. It is thoroughly deserved if this is the kind of attitude we want to set as a norm. People have a lot of leverage in negotiating during labor shortages, providers in this line of work have even more. Til that fact is recognized, then complaints about the quality of providers in this business are mute. The providers with regulars and who've been doing this longer have even more leverage and will often correctly tolerate less while practicing very scrupulous discretion on which clients they meet. You're going to get less of these experienced ones with a "I call the shots because I'm the client attitude". So don't be surprised that the only ones who follow through in meeting you are crap! Hello! You have a culture that doesn't respect providers and what they do, and what's worse is it can often be perpetuated on here. This isn't food service we're talking about. This is people providing their body, sexuality, companionship and some of the most intimate most personal aspects of a person's life experience. They're going to have more deciding power. And you're going to take this "I'm the customer and I call the shots" attitude while SIMULTANEOULSY....SIMULTANEOUSLY complain on here regularly about the less-than-optimal service you encounter??? It is deserved, sir. Not only is it deserved, but if you can't make the connection between your attitude/behavior and the outcomes in the industry that you receive, then this whole thing is just one giant endless hamster wheel. Act like a douche, think like a douche then come on here and complain. Wash, rinse, repeat. It shows a lack of awareness and introspection that probably carries over into other parts of one's social and interpersonal life. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised. No, I call the shots when it comes to my body. You can call the shots with your money, sure, but don't be surprised and come on here and complain when you have a turnover rate of 1-2 years and many providers who will meet you are over an hour late. Good clients have a better likelihood of getting get good providers. Bad clients have a greater likelihood of getting bad providers. That's what happens in a market when BOTH sides have complete and total autonomy of who they do business with.

The beauty with this job is we get to decide what works best for us individually. We have that deciding power. We are not beholden to give our time and body to someone we don't wish to.

This is a good policy, but idk…

Cancellations for us (or me) tend to come with a lot of inconvenience. It’s hard to just brush and shrug something off. I admit personally: I can be bad at keeping doctors/etc appointments here and there. However, they often schedule them so far in advance, and it’s more hassle trying to “be there” versus just seeing me with a day or 2 notice.

Another thing that happens every so often: you get to the client’s place and nobody answers. This has happened a few times, but fortunately many have hit me back  and apologize, “sorry I fell asleep/was downstairs, etc “ There’s been times I’ve driven long distance to hear that, and I’m just hit with a wave of disbelief 🫢
But imagine if they didn’t? That is unforgivable. Have that happen enough times, I wouldn’t want to give a 2nd or 3rd time.
It does surprise me though how places in the business world handle cancellations. Most seem pretty lenient. However they often are just stationary in an office and have clients booked on a schedule the whole day. Not us.

I have to say my guys are pretty punctual and when there are delays because of traffic or unavoidable issues they always text me about the problems and give accurate revised eta's.
I attribute this to the fact I hire quality providers who are reliable and professional. I check their reviews before hiring which help me in my decision making.

To answer the original question, it depends on the circumstances and the way they act when canceling. It may also depend on how last minute the cancellation is. If you're canceling while I'm already on my way to the meeting point, then screw you. Generally, I usually do a three-strike rule. One time is okay. Two consecutive times is pushing it. Three consecutive times is we're done here. My dick, I decide what I do with it.

You’re generous. If they are a new client and cancel last minute once, I give them an opportunity to book again if their explanation seems genuine (you can usually tell). In fact you can usually get a good idea about the chances they’ll cancel or even no show from the very first interaction. But anyway, after one chance if they mess around a second time that’s the end, I will refuse to take a booking.

I recently canceled an appointment on short notice. It was the only time that I recall ever doing so. The guy politely called me out on it and made a fair point. So I met him and paid for the missed meeting. He was gracious enough to join me for lunch too.

Believe it or not, I might actually think higher of a client if they reimburse for a cancellation than if they didn't cancel at all. Well, I don't know. It does leave a good impression though. It speaks to their character and what kind of person they are. They are going out of their way to do something that is completely unnecessary and thoughtful. It is an act of a gentleman. It shows that they're mindful of other people's time besides their own and are genuinely remorseful if they caused an inconvenience to a person. I always take note when clients do this and if it is a client I never have met then I take it as a green light as this is someone who is trustful and dependable. I highly recommend clients do this if they are to cancel. Even a modest compensation goes a long way.

    Hey there,

This is my first post, but I'm really considering escorting to get through post-secondary school. I was wondering if the "twink" body type is preferred or wanted by clients? I know super the "Greek God" body type is SUPER popular. Can twinks even compete with these muscle-y men?

I'm more of a masculine twink, if that adds anything, lol.

Also, how is the market in Toronto, moving there in a couple of months

    Regards,

From a client's perspective, I've increasingly gone the route of paying for more time with better escorts than less money for less time with more escorts.
At this point, I'd rather meet once a month  or so for a few hours or an overnight with a guy I know who is great than spend $200-$250 a few times a month on some random guys who I have no idea if we'll connect.
And in the end it's actually the same if I spend $1000 for a great time with a guy than $250 four times with "meh" guys.

Anytime someone includes “real job” while referencing “escorting” in the same sentence, I just know they aren’t somebody to have a conversation with. I’ve even seen clients on Adam4Adam use that terminology in their profile, and expect me to respond to them.

And since some posters want to be smart ass and ask fucking rhetorical questions, let me ask: how much would THEY charge to **** someone who wasn’t particularly their type?
Because last time I checked: a dude during a hypothetical pool party conversation was like, “yeah for a $100,000, I’ll sleep with ANYBODY “ while adding adjectives such as fat and ugly behind it (not my words, his).So yah, $300/400 is a unprecedented discount lol.
That’s where clients go wrong when they try to act like we owe them a certain price, especially regulars who get used to paying only so much. A average guy ” WITH A REAL JOB” my caliber, would charge them $1,000 or more. If money would even buy in the 1st place, because if they’re making money at a real job, why would they want to sleep with somebody who’s so far from the type, for less than their weekly paycheck? MoFos out here can be so entitled and ungrateful 😤 (not you, them).

I have started with taking deposits only and oh god the clients are 100000% better. Instead of seeing more clients who do not pay, haggle, no-show, cancelling... I am now seeing fewer but much higher quality clients. They paid deposit, showing you real phone number and established credibility before the meeting so when we meet it was a blast. I just tried this a week and my life quality is so much better now.

    This is the way.
It's not about quantity, but quality.  Lower numbers, higher rates, better experience for all involved.
It's not easy to make that jump, but when you do, it changes escort life drastically.
