That was my question, too.

 

I volunteered with a gal who had transitioned from male to female and who also happened to be married to a woman she met after having transitioned. When I asked her whether she was a lesbian she answer was "it's complicated - not sure myself." She was not being facetious.

 

It actually opened up a dialogue and deepened our friendship.

I don't know. Was the trans woman at my church who remained married to her wife lesbian after transitioning? Did her wife become lesbian then too? Or did they love each other enough to stay together despite the change in circumstances?

 

(It's a United Methodist church. The above is probably why it supports changing official church doctrine prohibiting sexually active non-heterosexuals from being church leaders. Meanwhile, the Baptist church I grew up in has been an accepting and welcoming church for 20 years.)

 

I realize this is a somewhat different situation, but still. Perhaps this is a good opportunity to use the term pansexual.

I'm aware of two separate cases where a woman transitioned to a man, and in the transition recognized where they formerly were attracted to women, were now attracted to men. I was surprised at first. That outcome seemed like important data. I wouldn't question anything Jenner is up to, other than why he is still a Repub, but I know that's a double standard. We all have the right our thinking.

Eh, I think since it's impossible to read minds it's impossible to really know what's going on. There is so much internalized/societal shame about sexuality/gender that I think some people are so fucked up they don't know themselves.

I mean, lots of 40something married men come out and say they used to be attracted to women but now are gay and had no idea. I strongly suspect many of those guys are lying through their teeth and trying to save face because of guilt over misleading their wives. And then the guys for whom bi is a stepping stone on the road to gay. Some of them, yeah. All of them? no.

(Please note I do believe bisexuals exist, and in fact that there are more of them than of homosexuals, just that a lot of guys inching out of the closet abuse the label.)

Yeah true. For me the other ways around. Even from a young age only attracted to men and had a type-strong muscle gorgeous men. The strong prince who would save the damsel in distress . Did not act on it or have sex for a while. Then moved and almost adopted a drag queen female persona and had a lot of sex and was quite fat for a while. Then fell very low, depressed and stopped being social. Then started hiring process -massages only first, then escorts. But still felt very empty and then through some twists in the road and science had kids, moved again , closer to family. Feel a bit more masculine, but still most people tell me I have very strong female tendencies -whatever that means At this point I do not know. I am also slowly getting attracted to women. Never had sex with one yet, but before I never looked at a woman sexually, now I am beginning to be attracted though I am gay and out to my family and others. I do not know what to make of it-maybe will hire to find out if it will really go somewhere. I still find men very attractive.

 

At this point I have no clue and I realized, we are in this earth a short time, so as long as I am happy-who cares what I am!

I just went through that ... my housemate Daniel decided (over a year ago now) to transition MTF and become Aria. She met Alyssa, also MTF trans, on a support board. She moved to Wisconsin with her. They will soon cohabitate.
