I was remembering the episode of "All in the Family" where Archie and Meathead were discussing which was the best way to remove one's shoes and socks. Whether it was both shoes first and then the socks or one shoe and sock and then the other.

For me it's always been remove both shoes and then the socks. Sometimes at home I'd want to walk around the house in my socks.

Now I go barefoot inside. I go days, a week or more without wearing shoes. Shoes are heavy! But I get mine from a diabetic shoe store and they put wedges in them.

I remember my grandmother teaching me how to dress myself. That shorts and tee-shirts had a front and back. But I was happy to learn that unlike shoes it made no difference which sock went on which foot. ;-)))

That scene was the first thing I thought of when I saw the title of this thread. It's hilarious! And I do it Archie's way, but not because he said so. :p

Thank-you much for sharing that clip!

I had it backwards; it was putting them on not taking them off.

Just received a pair of Ariat loafers I ordered online from Nordstrom. Slipped them on barefoot, it was like putting on a pair of gloves for my feet. I'm thinking of ordering another pair for when I wear this pair out.

My foot doctor told me not to wear sandals or flip flops nor to go barefoot outdoors.

Diabetics, especially, are generally advised not to go barefoot.

If the shoes fit, wear them - all the time! Diabetics should never walk barefoot, even in-doors.

I thought I was the only one with this meme.

Usually, a sock and a sock then a shoe and a shoe, but if I'm feeling particularly arthritic, it will be a sock and a shoe THEN a sock and a shoe, as I only have to abduct my hip and flex the knee once on each side.

I don't wear socks except with running shoes.

I live in Asia where wearing your shoes in the House is a capital offense.
The same happens in the Czech Republic: the polite thing to do is to take off your shoes when entering somebody’s home. You are sometimes given slippers, but it is perfectly normal just to walk around in your socks.

I keep all my shoes lined up just inside the entrance to my condo, and I never wear any of them anywhere in the house.

I used to keep my socks on all the time unless I was changing or showering, but lately I've been taking them off as I climb into bed.

Years ago I knew this guy who was in the military. All his socks were black so he didn't have to worry about wearing the wrong color with his uniform. Off duty he liked to run. His running shoes and shorts and tee shirt were white but his socks were black. Looked odd but once he explained it to me it made sense.

How does that make sense? I can see not matching patterns of socks but the only way his theory makes sense is if he cannot tell the difference between black and white, blind, getting dressed in the dark.

He was afraid that if he had non black socks that he might mistakenly put them on when he wore his uniform instead of a black pair.
