Rippon is a media whore who just ended the Olympics in 10th place. Hasn't done anything relevant or heroic enough to earn the title of "gay icon". He's a smart guy tho, I'll give him that. He knows how to milk the attention he's been getting like very few people know how to...

I personally don't like him, don't find him attractive, & don't think he should've been given a spot on the Olympic team knowing he's incapable of landing a quad in competition.

I'm sorry guys..I am NOT enamored with him. I think the media is TRYING to turn him into a GAY icon, but he just doesnt have the goods. He's a flash in the pan, unless he's smart and can turn his 15 minutes into something greater than a Wheaties Box. For me, he's a Davey Wavey wannabee, shrill, cocky and annoying. Girls LOVES that spotlight !

But here's how I feel.....

Girl, let's be honest here... he isn't even good enough to appear on a Wheaties box, athletes have to actually win at something before they can get on there.

That's a cute gif tho <3 Caleb & Devin were the only guys I liked from that season. You're going to love tonight's BB episode... or not... depends on whether you still hate Omarosa or not. :p

I used to be an avid figure skating fan, but kind of stopped following it from 2003 to 2016 because I got so wrapped up in baseball and tennis. In the interim, who the hell came up with the totally bogus fraud of an event, team figure skating?! How is this even a competition when only three countries in the world can even field a decent team?? Canada, Russia, and the US are the only three countries in the world that have a decent representative in all four disciplines. China has no ladies or ice dance teams. Japan has no ice dance or pairs. Spain has no ladies or pairs. And so on. How can you create an event and award gold, silver, and bronze when only three countries can field a team??

Adam Rippon is blubbering about his great triumph of winning bronze. Dude, there were only three real teams in the competition. You basically came in last, but last in this event means you get the bronze. Gushing about "winning" the bronze is like gushing about winning a participation trophy.

.

Wow, really?

He medaled bronze, third out of how many contestants?

Way to shit on someone’s accomplishment. He can hold his head high as a proven OLYMPIAN, what’s your story?

I agree. The men's single figure skating has really passed him by. What is he really good at? Degree of difficulty? Heck no. He has never landed a quad in any competition and in Olympics he didn't even have the guts to give it a try. Artistry? Just in the U.S, Jason Brown is better. Femininity? Johnny Weird was better. Watching his couple interviews with Andrea Joyce (sp?), I didn't get the sense that he is that eloquent or even smart. The media is trying very hard to turn him into some kind of new age diversity gay icon, which he clearly cannot measure up to.

I'm sorry, I must have missed the rule that you need to win at least an Olympic bronze medal before you're allowed to express an opinion.

Patrick Chan, gold medalist in the team event, earned a tech score of 87.67 whereas Yuzuru Hanyu, gold medalist in the men's singles, earned a tech score of 109.55. A score of 87.67 was the 2nd highest tech score in the team event (Kolyada was just a smidge higher at 88.35), yet it would have placed Chan only eighth in the free skate standings in men's singles. Hanyu's score was good enough for only second in the free skate, behind Nathan Chen's jaw-dropping 127.64. Rippon's tech score was 86.20 whereas men's singles bronze medalist Javier Fernandez scored 101.52. Of a maximum eight jumping passes (two can be combinations, one can be a series, the other five must be individual jumps), Rippon did two double axels and zero quads, good for the third highest tech score. Twelve-year-olds can do a double axel. In contrast, Javi did two quads and two triple axels, yet Javi's tech score was only good enough for fourth in the free skate. Chan and Rippon placed ninth and tenth respectively in the overall men's singles standings.

The Olympic Committee and the skating federations love the team event because it brings in ratings and money. In a sport with staggering expenses but just a trickle of revenue stream, Canada's gold medal will bring in a lot of money for Skate Canada. In that sense, I begrudgingly support the team event because anything to help with the horrible financial burden of figure skating is a good thing. But come on, the level of skating in the team event is a joke. Three nations fielded legitimate teams; three teams win a medal. Do the math.

I find Adam's looks and skating unremarkable but he can be proud of his Olympic experience (which almost didn't happen had he not worked hard to come back from injury as well as a disappointing Nationals).

I knew he would finish the lowest of the U.S. men because of his base content value (let's be honest, the triple Axels were a bit sketchy).

Like his BFF Ashley Wagner, he knows how to play the media game and positioned himself as a new gay icon. I would personally prefer to listen to Johnny than Adam.

We can hope that's the case!

That's a bit of an overstatement, no?

Only time will tell...

I judge Olympians based on their athletic prowess. I don't look to them to make political statements. You're there to compete... Now compete.

His stance on Pence and his looks mean next to nothing to me.

Some folks judge escorts based on their performance in the bedroom, but I do read your opinions on Pence and other issues. Am I wrong?

Jealous queens!
