You're probably talking about Rounds which was at 53rd and Second, I believe. I loved it. I also loved Stella's on 47th St. Alas, I think the Giuliani purges of the late 1990's put an end to the best Escort bars, though I think there is a quasi "Gentleman's Club" somewhere in NYC that may have an occasional entrepreneur.

The bar itself is a really nice upscale place. Friendly staff, strong drinks. Crowd mostly middle aged and up businessmen. Never been "shopping" there, but on weekends there's always some cute younger guys that I assume are available.

I will have to check this out on one of my visits to Manhattan. I've been curious about the place but usually too busy to pay a visit.

Trying to remember when Rounds closed -- perhaps the mid-1990s. I end to remember the possible hires as much as the actual hires

Memory,

All alone in the moonlight...

And the wind begins to moan

Beautiful. But, the geeky boring lawyer in me always wondered why Andrew Lloyd Weber and the boys didn't try to sue for copyright infringement. The signage was very similar to the show poster artwork.

Hit the Townhouse once, it had the overwhelming smell of the cheap face powder I bought my mom for Mother's Day when I was 5.

Oh, how I miss Stella's. And Cats, which was right down the block.

Stella's was for pick-ups. It seemed that the dancers at Cats weren't necessarily available for anything but lap dances. I'm sure there were exceptions. I never tried at the bar. It was always so packed. An escort I hired took me there for the 1st time. Real dive, but I enjoyed it too.

Stella's was definitely my bar of choice - must have been during the 90s, right? i was quite young but really liked the rough "urban" guys who hung there, and made a few close friends there from amongst them... most ended up in jail for some time when i knew them, and i often helped their wives/girlfriends/kids (not monetarily....)

My choices were very, very different unemployed actors and models and anyone from South America.

  • 2 weeks later...
There was also a bar.... kinda scary...that guys who got banned from Stella's would go to... on like 41st street, just east of 9th avenue....dark and creepy and i think they had weekly big dick contests too....

Savoy maybe??????

If you are referring to a bar near the Port Authority, it was more than kinda scary...

OMG! Cats. My all time favorite bar! No pretense of guys dancing on the bar - they just walked around and pulled it out. I remember sort of a "back room" there, it might have opened up to a back alley. I was so disappointed when it was forced to close.
