Last week at this time: I was lounging poolside surrounded by, and chatting with, gorgeous naked men. Flash forward to now: surfing the internet while opening up Monopoly game pieces from Albertsons. Unless one of these pieces is an instant winner for a mind blowing orgasm, this weekend is shaping up to be a disappointment. :D

I hope all of you had as good a time as I did!:):p Thank you to my chef de cuisine, Epigonos - you outdid yourself. What's up for next year? Thank you to my new assistant, Nate Newman, otherwise known as "Phildo" who delayed his trip to New Zealand for me.;) Thank you to Steven Kesslar for the loan of certain items - do I owe storage fees? Thank you to all who attended for making this another successful gathering. See you all next year???

As soon as you decide those dates send them out. I have to make my "arrangements."

Jesus Christ, Oliver. You of all people should know how to be discreet. Now everybody will figure it out.

No, you don't owe me a penny for borrowing my large testicles. I'm just glad they enhanced your pleasure during the event.

And perhaps I should pay you a storage fee. Seeing as how you returned them empty, I assume they were well cared for. Whatever you did with Nate and others in private, you appear to have had a Gay old time. Glad to be of service, as always.

Oh my god! He shared some with me. Didn't he tell you? I told him you'd find out.

If it’s not held at the same time as Coachella, Fri, Apr 12, 2019, 3:00 PM – Sun, Apr 21, 2019, 11:30 PM PDT, or Indian Wells Tennis, March 4 - 17. 2019, rooms might be a wee bit less expensive. (Every wee bit helps.)

A week before Coachella would be awesome.

the forum weekend dates for 2019 have been set.....(see the new thread linked below).....Sat-Sun, April 13-14, 2019.......

there is usually something big happening in the Coachella Valley every weekend from February through early May....Coachella covers two weekends, Stagecoach is on another weekend, Modernism Week, White Party, Indian Wells, film festivals, air shows, etc......also, keep in mind that Oliver has his own winter travel schedule and we are his guests........NO COMPLAINING ALLOWED that our event, consisting of all of forty people, has a conflict with a music festival that has - ohhh - about 50-100K people in attendance

make reservations now!....you can cancel later if you want......Canyon Club is among the least expensive and may have a four-nights-for-the-price-of-three deal (call and ask - don't use the website).....they certainly do NOT have a concierge, though :D

Well said, @azdr0710. Trust me, there is never an ideal set of event dates that pleases everyone. All an organizer can effectively do is choose the dates, set the schedule, and notify those interested in attending. Then let individuals decide if they can attend or not.

There’s very little likelihood that any weekend in season isn’t going to conflict with some other larger event. The market compression on hotel availability wasn’t all that bad as it’s the mainstream properties and Airbnb that draw the bulk of Coachella crowd. PSP isn’t inexpensive to fly into for sure but the airlines increase capacity and utilize larger jets (A320s or 737s) instead of those blasted regional jets.

In this instance there’s a full year’s notice and that is great for planning purposes. I’m already figuring out which escorts I’m going to hire and what manner of shenanigans we’ll get in to as well. ;) Can’t wait.

Many thanks to @Oliver for making all this possible. :)

Wayne and I booked four nights for next year, and got the fourth night free. You'll need to call them to make the reservation, instead of booking online.

True, but Indian Wells and Coachella dwarf the others (Coachella is actually more than 125,000, same as Modernism week, but that is centered in PS but is in early February, too early to matter. Indian Wells gets 450,000 over two weeks). Just sayin’.

hmmmm......you still seem unconvinced......so I'll repeat the other part of my note upthread: keep in mind that Oliver has his own winter travel schedule and we are his guests

I watch the Indian Wells Tournament every year on television. Not a tennis grand slam event, like the US Open, but the best tennis players participate.

According to Facebook, an old friend of this forum and a very sexy man with the professional initials SK was at Indian Wells this year. SK is not Steven Kesslar though he otherwise qualifies.

It would be great if the timing of the party would bring this lamb back to the flock.

Here's a thought. I honestly don't know if this makes any sense or not, since I don't have to worry about booking hotels in Palm Springs.

Does it make any sense to reserve a small block of rooms now that can be cancelled if they are not needed? If so, I'm assuming Canyon Club would be the place to do it. The issue at the last minute seems to be both availability and cost, and of the places most people stay Canyon Club is the most affordable.

I just checked and on those dates next year for a Friday - Monday (3 night stay) at CC it's about $300 total for a ground floor Studio King and just under $500 for a ground floor Poolside King.

Here's what CC says about their cancellation policy:

• Non-holiday periods require a one night deposit and have a 72-hour cancellation policy.

• Holidays and special event weekends have a 7-day cancellation policy.

• Cancelling within the 72-hour (or 7-day) period will result in forfeiture of your deposit.

In theory "we" could book 2 or 3 extra rooms and then cancel them a week or two in advance if they weren't needed. This could be done either being upfront with CC, and letting them know we were doing it, or just doing it. I've never worked with management there, but presumably they should like our group because they get lots of business from us. So it's conceivable they'd just hold a few rooms. Or if not, we could just book 'em anyway.

My impression from reading this thread is that people who waited until the last month either couldn't find anything at a reasonable rate, or just couldn't find anything period. My guess is also that for various reasons - like work schedule - there are people who just can't book one year or even a few months out. If I recall right I did something like this with Guy (at Helios) a few years ago since he wasn't sure until very late in the game, due to extenuating circumstances, whether he'd be able to attend. So we just held a room on my credit card with a one night deposit and by the time the cancellation deadline was reached (72 hours) he knew he'd be able to make it.

If something like this makes sense I am sure some of us could figure it out. The real issue would be what hotel, what level rooms, and then how do we let people know that there are in fact rooms being held on a first come first served basis? And also how many rooms might we need late in the game?

As I said, I have no practical experience with how this actually worked out this year or previous years, other than what's mentioned above. But I'm pretty sure that there will in fact be people who might like to attend but won't be able to know with 100 % certainty until much further down the line. For anyone who knows is there reason to think if someone tries to book say in February or March 2019 they are likely to be completely shut out? And if so does it make sense to anticipate that and try to work around it, or just say, "Sorry. Try next year." ?

Steven, this year, 6 months out, I booked two rooms at Canyon Club. One was for myself. The other was offered up here as an extra last minute room for anyone who made a late decision. A poster here contacted me through an escort and he booked the room for 2 of the 4 days. A few days later, he had to cancel. As the deadline approached, I made one last offer and ultimately cancelled the reservation. Canyon Club was booked and that vacancy lasted about 12 hours after my cancellation. It did not cost me anything to do this except for the deposit, which went toward my own room anyway.

I think the idea of booking all of Canyon Club and having as many people as possible stay there is a great one. However, there are others who need more privacy, more luxury or perhaps less partying and so one size will not likely fit all.

I will be booking one extra room again, so those people who are late to realizing just how much fun this weekend will be, can still have a chance to get in on the action.
