"Generous" - red flag?

I'm curious to get both the client and escort perspective on this. Whenever I see the words "for generous men" in an ad, it doesn't sit well with me. I understand there's a transaction involved here, sure, but I hear that phrase as 'this is not about the service, the client's feelings/needs, our time together, or mutual fun; my advertised price is just b.s., and you better show up with a Rolex or a lot of rent money or I'm going to turn nasty.'

I know that sounds a bit harsh, but honestly, the phrase is like nails on a blackboard.

Am I the only one? Is it just kinda part of the scene and I should ignore it?

Thank you for your thoughts.

If the word "generous" or anything of the like is used on a website where it's clear that the advertiser expects to be paid, then it doesn't sit well with me, either. My least favorite is probably "upscale."

When "generous" or "gen" is used on a website like Craigslist, it doesn't bother me since the advertiser has to have some way to let readers know he's looking to be paid by whoever contacts him. Better a guy use language like that then end up in a situation where someone expects a free hook up and then has someone asking for money.

I don't see it how you see it.

"Generous" is usually just implying that money will exchange hands. People put it on apps/Craigslist to just signal what they are looking for without getting their profiles banned.

I don't think that the word even implies an expectation of extravagance.

When used in an ad, I don't think it really means a whole lot. I wouldn't give it as much weight as you give it. I think it might be more of a marketing thing.

I have seen this and simply view it as an old code word that is used in personal ads to imply that a financial donation would be appreciated (more code words :p )

If a fee is stated then that's the fee.

I've found that word on grindr and I usually click report... If I see it at an escort's ad I think it's just redundant.

Are you kidding me? You actually rat the guy out? Why do you care if some kid is using Grindr to drum up some business?

I completely agree - really doing noble work jamming up people who presumably need some cash to make ends meet, huh @marylander1940 ?

Ignore it and move on.

I clicked on report, I didn't shoot the guys... if they want to escort they should put an ad in RentMen.com and do it. What's next a b/j in an alley?

Am I a villain again? Thank you guys!

I can't believe some folks on here would even bother about posting about this... SMH

Thank you guys!

It's pretty absurd that you, someone who hires, would try to make an escort's life unnecessarily more difficult.

Pretty villainous indeed.

Prostitution should be legal and taxed!

The profiles I've reported have remained online for a day at least, maybe the guys just created another profile later. Who knows?

Should we bring the subject of picking up amateur escorts on Grindr?

Do you know you'll get a pay cut if we start tempting amateur guys? Some might get robbed too, but hiring out of grindr might be cheaper.

I believe I've seen it all now. Seems counterintuitive to hire escorts but report free lancers on Grindr. Just ignore the escorts if you don't want to participate. No need for Grindr to be censored like that.

yes, telling him to pay for an ad on RM or BP.

Is that such a bad thing to do?

Will yinz call the cops on me or just shoot me in an alley?

Sorry guys!

Whoa. I went away for a couple of hours and came back to find a house on fire.

Thank you for the perspectives, especially those who say it might just be lingo, don't make too much out of it.

Apologies for setting off a minor conflagration.

Do not worry. It is just a few fireworks.

Just seems counterproductive to me. I'm interested in more options, not less. I don't relish the role of Grindr monitor.

I'm more inclined to interpret those words literally. I've always presumed the escort is expecting financial compensation above and beyond the listed price. That being the case, to avoid any misunderstandings, I just move on to ads sans "generous" or "upscale."

The use of the word "generous" is, to me, akin to the words "ask me". If these words appear in an advert, I will, usually, move on. The exception to this "rule" of mine is if other factors in the advert spur me to act and make the call. My way of doing business in this hobby is to know before hand how much the fees are going to be and if the fees are, to me, reasonable and within my price range. If not, I do not waste either the escort's time nor my time. I do not believe in bargaining on fees. There are other items in the transaction that are much more important to me than fee / rate negotiation.
