well, you just joined.

I joined a few months ago. Guess I'm supposed to show more deference to the seasoned veterans on here.

Sometimes "seasoned veteran" equals "cranky old man." Too much of a "get off my lawn" vibe when you voluntarily police Grindr.

I'm just quoting this before you delete it.

I look forward to your contribution on here.

I don't think you've done or said anything wrong at all here. Most posting in this thread were similiarly offended.

My advice, back down. You're getting very defensive

What can I do, change my mind?

Sorry guys we, disagree on this one!

If I'm asked for $ on Grindr I click the report button, is not like I eat puppies and kittens!

You make it sound like expecting you to change your mind is like expecting Trump to become sexually attractive (everyone shut up, it is not a political joke).

We are here to dialogue, to exchange ideas and experiences, in one word to learn, which is to change. So you are saying that you participate here just to brag your opinions in our faces, because you are not going to change them, not even when everyone here is telling you that you are wrong, and wrong in the worst way, reporting guys that you do not know a shit about?

To me "generous" is just a code for escorting (which is a code as well!)

Before there were sites such as RM escorts had to use personal ads and convey their job euphemistically. It's unnecessary in RM ads but some escorts may not get that.

I though do not care for the term "upscale" - I don't know if that used to be a code as well. However being upscale sounds like a staid older gentleman taking care of a young man's needs - when what I want is hot sex and a connection with some stud for a couple of hours! :p

you need to calm down... you're taking this in a very personal way.

Now I know why @BOZO T CLOWN is not posting in the politics forum.

@latbear4blk is not a dialogue when you're yelling. Your statement sounds North Korean!

I agree with most of you guys for on many other subjects, on this one I strongly disagree.

I'm curious to get both the client and escort perspective on this. Whenever I see the words "for generous men" in an ad, it doesn't sit well with me. I understand there's a transaction involved here, sure, but I hear that phrase as 'this is not about the service, the client's feelings/needs, our time together, or mutual fun; my advertised price is just b.s., and you better show up with a Rolex or a lot of rent money or I'm going to turn nasty.'

I know that sounds a bit harsh, but honestly, the phrase is like nails on a blackboard.

Am I the only one? Is it just kinda part of the scene and I should ignore it?

Thank you for your thoughts.

Whoa. I went away for a couple of hours and came back to find a house on fire.

Thank you for the perspectives, especially those who say it might just be lingo, don't make too much out of it.

Apologies for setting off a minor conflagration.

I'm sorry your thread was hijacked, after all you referred to RentMen.com and other legitimate escort websites where guys pay for the ad and are clearly identified in case something goes wrong.

It is true that we usually agree. I always thought that we were like minded people, I still do. So if a lot of people you usually agree with is telling you that you are wrong, you may want to take a very close look at your stand, rather than react defensively from the very beginning.

Not to jump on the bandwagon, but that attitude is why I don't use Grindr.

You shouldn't feel any type of way about it. Non at all. Adam4Adam is/was allowing escorts to promote for years. Grindr could have jumped on the bandwagon long ago too.

Now the only alternative is if someone contacted you and asked you for money, as you changed it from seeing someone and then reporting them.

Here is my 2 cents for what its worth. I think there are 2 scenarios that can be at play here. If the GRINDR, CL (et.al) profile/ad has "generous" in the copy, you know going in what they are expecting. Maybe the dude doesn't have the money to pay for an ad but will as soon as he gets some clients in. I think the problem arises when someday has just a normal profile, you start to chat and invest some time thinking you have a connection only to be asked at the end are you generous. Don't snitch the guy who is at least being honest & upfront about his intentions. If you want to snitch the guy who is kind of catfishing you I say go for it

Many nowadays mainstream escorts started like that. Very young, closeted, in need of money, publishing an escort ad is a major step for them.

It's very easy to say well than they should buy an ad if they want to escort maybe they are just testing the waters so to speak. Lets not forget the Rentmen escort has to pay for the ad upfront. IDK what the rates are but I'm sure its not that cheap. You don't have to change your opinion but you could show some empathy and at least consider cutting the guy a break who is being honest upfront. You don't know what kind of situation they are in, financially, emotionally, etc.
