Has anybody read this news? Next somebody will say that since it didn't happen on the island of Bali it's not relevant.

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-04-...or-breaching-sharia-law/8432894?section=world

It's not irrelevant, because as it says, it is indicative of growing conservatism of Islamic practice in Indonesia. There are big caveats, however. Aceh is unique in that sharia law applies as part of the terms of ending a long standing insurgency and civil war in the province. Islam is far stricter in the province. Aceh was a problem in this respect for the Dutch colonial administration and the independence of Indonesia changed nothing. Elsewhere in Indonesia things are far more relaxed. There has been a concerted campaign by some clerics against the reelection of the Christian governor of Jakarta, but he still came (I think) first in the first round. Bali is different again as it is majority Hindu. So yes, the developments in Aceh are a cause for some concern, but not yet a cause for alarm.

Bearman,

I’m not sure what you mean by “Next somebody will say that since it didn't happen on the island of Bali it's not relevant.” Everything is relative, to some extent. Perhaps I’m reading too much into this, but your use of the word “Next” implies that you’re wanting someone to challenge your statement. And the emoji you put afterwards, an Angry Face, only enforces that.

Although you travel outside the US “all the time”, and you seem knowledgable about world events, it’s becoming clear to me that you're not particularly familiar with Indonesia as a country - from geographical, historical, political, cultural, and LGBT perspectives. As such, I hope you'll come to the breakfast. We can discuss your concerns there.

Dave

Be my guest for breakfast and hear about the project I've been working on - that’s been a decade in the making.

Months from now, I will be opening the best All-Male Resort on the planet... on the exotic island of Bali.

Join me as I discuss the features of the resort - fun, connected, exciting, beautiful, comfortable, hedonistic, social, and more.

No sales pitch, no fund seeking... I just want to share my enthusiasm for the project with those of you in PS that weekend.

We’ll meet in a popular Palm Springs restaurant, on Saturday April 22nd, at 10am.

Because I need to figure seating beforehand, please RSVP - ASAP :)

Thanks!

Dave

I saw some preliminary plans some time ago - yikes, a year! and also some discussion on Dave's newsletter.

It looks like it will be AMAZING.

Dave has my fondest recommendation for this endeavor.

BTW, Dave, when will I see you again? As a very bad boi, I might need some educating!

thanks, funguy, for the recommendation.

also, thanks for bringing it to my attention that you've been a bad boi. in that case, yes - you will definitely need some educating. and probably more than that. one way or another, I'll need to get some education into you. as this is an important task, I might have to drive in to los angeles from palm springs this upcoming week. contact me (fastest way is by phone or email) and let's discuss times and length (of a session, not how much education you'll need - you already know it's a thick 7 inches). also, we can determine just how bad you've actually been, so I'll know best what to bring. :D

Cute response but TMI. Should have been a PM.

I've an apartment in KL and travel there several times a year. Malaysia, while predominantly Malay (therefore Muslim) hosts two other cultures; Chinese and Hindu. Homosexuality is illegal but RentMen KL usually lists 30+ escorts including a few transients from Rio or Barcelona. There are maybe 10 active "saunas" and Grindr, Hornet and VGL are very active (especially if you're a Western daddy type). All of which confirms that what preached in Asia may be quite different from what is practiced. Just like the US.

As for transPacific travel I prefer AA's Dallas-Hong Kong offering. Business class upgrades are plentiful and the service top notch. On the last return flight I did not get upgraded and the only real problem was the halitosis the young man beside me offered.

I'm long over due to explore Sarawak, Thailand and Bali. I'm very interested Dave.

That's very good info and good to know.

Question: I believe there are several places in the world, such as Dubai, where lots of indiscretions are routinely overlooked and generally everyone has a good time.

However, these indiscretions can become the basis of prosecuting individuals who are targeted for blackmail, who may be perceived as having made some public statement critical of some government official or policy, who may unknowingly associate with a drug user, or someone simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

When in Thailand I'm advised to have a good time but keep a low profile and my mouth shut.... a little unsettling considering the nature of prison life.

In a place where Due Process is whatever a police captain says it is and being gay is a crime I might worry just a bit about letting my hair down.

Do you think there is an elevated risk in Malaysia or other strongly-religious country?

g56whiz, I'd be happy to give you info about it! Please PM me your email address and I'll send you stuff later.

Keith... I know what you mean about Dubai. I've seen some stuff there that I never thought could take place, based on the formal rules.

Personally, though, I don't want to speak for Malaysia, as I haven't ever been there - and although I speak Bahasa, it's a vastly different culture in Malaysia than in Bali.

Being gay is not a crime in Bali. And I'm excited to speak about Bali.

In fact, I'm pulling together some visuals for you guys attending the breakfast, and just got some amazing designs from my landscape architect. I almost cried seeing them - they are so good. Seriously.

So I'll include one or two of them to show, too.

We're six days away from breakfast-on-me. If any of you reading this are on the fence about attending, please - just come. It'll be fun, interesting, and social. And no selling, or obligation, or any weirdness. My escort brothers, you guys are invited, too!

If breakfast was really ON you, Dave, I might come. Sunny sides up on the pecs, a few pancakes in vital places, maple syrup dribbling, may even some whipped cream?

Maple syrup on sheets is a disaster within minutes.

I know this wasn't meant to be a "discussion"....but fuck it.

Bali is an AMAZING and beautiful country. I would kill to go to an all male resort there.

I've never felt anything but love from the locals. That includes beautiful straight male

beach attendants who respectfully and politely "checked in" on me and my man a few times

as we fucked like dogs in an ocean side straw hut just to "make sure you have everything

you need".

The next day...there were even a few "surprise" toys waiting in the hut on our return.

If you can't be happy in Bali....you will NEVER be happy.

I honestly believe that.

I wish you the best of luck Dave!

Just curious... what were the toys?

Bali - a beautiful destination. I often visit - as its just a 6.5 hr flight from Sydney.

Indeed we even own property on the island.

Gay life is well and truly entrenched , but operates in a sort of discreet way.

There are 4 main bars - all next to each other - and on a busy night the bars flow out onto the streets, lot of drag queens, but I have never seen any police or any issues happening there.

Outside of there there are lots of massage places that cater for men. All offer HE .

The usual apps are full of local men offering themselves - normally for money.

My take on Bali is stay away from the big tourist areas, there is lots of people waiting to take advantage of drugs in the night club area, (not so much the gay ones), exercise caution as you would anywhere you travel. Don't buy really cheap cocktails as they often change the vodka (or any spririt) to arak a locally made rice spirit. If this is made incorrectly it can contain mentanol - which kills you in a manner of several hours.

But if you go to a great resort - and I have, clothing optional, its a great place to party and enjoy yourself.

i imagine that whatever offering Dave is creating - will be outstanding and I look forward to hearing more about it.

Well you are correct about lots of Muslims, Indonesia is the worlds most populous Muslim country with approx 200 million followers of Islam.

However the island of Bali is 90% Hindu, (a Balinese version of Indian Hindu) 5% Christian and 5% Muslim.

The Balinese are very friendly, non judgmental, and often don't realize you are gay.

Been to Bali over 20 times and never felt uncomfortable
