I have noticed this on various Latin escorts, mostly from burns or cuts. I asked one Brazilian why he had scars, he said it was a gang mark, either for initiation or for being a 'bad boy'.

The reason I ask is there is a Latin escort currently working the West Coast who has 3-4 scars on his chest that appear to be from a lit cigarette. He would not address them when asked.

Anyone?

Reminds me a bit of a guy at the company I used to work for - he was in PC support so I'd seem him around a lot, nice guy but a bit shy. He wore a collar-type necklace with a lock on it - I asked him about it once and he didn't want to talk about it.

I think silence is a good response when someone asks a question that is impertinent. It's impolite not to respect boundaries. Would you be expect to be answered if you enquired of a co-worker how they got a love-bite on their neck?

Or a cold sore in his mouth he knows he has it don't point at it or ask about it it would be a childish behavior.

Most likely abuse from his father or an elder from his family. I know stories that they even punish their kids with a hot iron :(

I've heard of tattoo's of coarse but the scar thing is new to me.

scarification isn't nearly as popular a method of body modification as piercing and tattooing, but it's not uncommon.

I have also noticed scars on Latin guys - random scars, not ones that appear to have been deliberately inflicted. I always assumed it was just that they'd had more of a rough-and-tumble childhood than I had, or maybe that the little dings that everybody sustains through life showed more on them because of their dark skin tone.

I had a Latin FB many years ago who had a third nipple. I was fascinated by it and tried to stroke it a couple of times, but he pulled my hand away and told me to stop, so I guess he was self-conscious about it.

Is it related to being Latin? Or is it perhaps related to a poverty background? In any place of the world, if you come from a poverty background there is a high chance you will have scares, no matters your ethnic/cultural background.

Although the following link goes to African culture - decorative scarring was also traditional amongst various Aboriginal, Pacific Island and South American cultures. Some are incredibly intricate:

There’s also the “hanging by the pectoral muscle” Sun Dance ritual of Native American Plains Indians:

And the “badge of honor” dueling scars (Renommierschmiss) popular among upper class Germans and Austrians in the early 20th Century:

I don't know if they still do this but when I was in college historically black fraternities would brand their new members when they were initiated into the fraternity
