How many years is it acceptable to shave off your age when advertising?

I must admit this thought was prompted by the Geff Gannon threads in poitical forums but it is probably more relevant here.

We know that the guy is 47 but as late as November 2002 a reviewer on here had hired him when his advertised age was 31. I must admit to some scepticism about the reviewers who failed to notice the guy was a dozen or so years older that stated but hey the reviews are not in the listings now.

It does raise the question of how many years it is acceptible to shave off an escort's age when he advertises. There is also the associated question of pictures. One guy on Gaydar has had the same picture up for several years and judging by the hairstyle (a "TinTin" style) it is at least 5 or more years old. At least on Gaydar they require a date of birth which the software automatically translates into actual age.

While a couple or so years might be OK what is the most an escort should take off their age? What are people's views about advertsing with years old picutes?

I want a current pic and think shaving a "Couple" of years off won't really hurt. I prefer older men anyway so for me it works against them when they lie about their age. The truth always shows itself when they hit the door.

True Charlie! Once a guy hits 35, Doubtful he will look 25, BUT using 30 in STATS works! I guess it works, Especially for the Guys who workout 5x a week. The BOD and Face Balance. There are alot of guys in NYC though, Young Bod, Old face! I could never understand how some people "Think" they can tell a guy who is 26 as opposed to 24? What the Hell Difference does the "2 years" here or there Matter, at ANY AGE ? Either a Guy is Sexy or He isn't! AT ANY AGE!... :+ :+ :+

I think zero is the acceptable number of years to shave off your age.

A client is expected to pay the agreed-upon fee (an escort would

consider it unacceptable for a client to shave some dollars off).

Why shouldn't an escort also be expected to deliver as was understood?

I agree that the answer is zero since this can influence prospective clients and they deserve honesty. Also, the escort may be loosing clients by lowering his age. Some clients such as myself prefer older escorts. Besides, if the client has a certain image in mind which is shattered the minute he meets the escort, the session is headed south in a hurry.

Of course, the escort could do what I do. I always add about 5 years so that people will say "doesn't he look good for his age" instead of "Good Lord! he looks like shit for that age."

There's a lot to be said for that. When I turned 30 I started telling people I was 40, if asked. I had 10+ glorious years of people saying "Wow! You look great for your age!"

I did it at a party once and my Mother got a kick out of it (after regaining her composure) when someone said "You don't look old enough to have a 40yo kid!" LOL

Ha! I do the same thing. When I meet someone new, I usually say that I am 26, then let the compliments ensue...

I hire boys occasionally, and I would prefer them to advertise the age they look rather than their actual age. Those who say zero is the only acceptable number, come on...escorts are about the IMAGE, not the AUTHENTIC. Escorts alter their name, but that does not ruin the experience for me. I do not say, "If your name is not really 'Bobby' then I am just not intersted!" I guess if I am hiring because I want to get the closest thing to illegal that they can find, I suppose it matters. Other than that, I'd just prefer to know what age their appearance suggests.

I think a more legitimate complaint is that escorts (as well as most people you meet online) send out the best pictures they've ever taken in their life on the best day of their life and then sparkle it up with some photoshop as well. Check amongst yourselves...you know it's happened to you.

So you're really 16 then???

Nevermind... it was deej who said he added 10 years. Sometimes I wish DELETE were an option in addition to EDIT.

And who gets to decide "the age they look"?

What's in a name? A Toyota "Avalon" would perform just as well if its name were changed to "Alavon." But if the dealer told you the car has 2,500 miles on it when it really has 25,000? Would you pay the same price either way?

Does the car look hot? Because I'm only keeping it for a few hours, not buying it. The amount of miles it has is moot.

I understand your point though. It's just not an important issue for me when I hire. As long as he looks like his pictures (or better ;-) I am happy.

When I said image, I should have said "persona". I would bet that pretty much all escorts are operating under their image/fantasy, at least at first. Otherwise, why use a stagename?

Some guys definitely use old photos.Even Old Body Shots without a Face! Other than it being mentioned in a "Review".. which can be a Personal Opinion OF THE GUYS AGE..We all seem to have different takes, on what is "Good Looking" never mind how old someone is! Either the Looks Turn you on or Turn you off..:+ :+ :+

Not all escorts take that approach. Some see presenting

themselves accurately as part of being professional.

Why use a stagename? Privacy. It makes it harder for stalkers

to pester you. It keeps family members and employers who

Google your name from finding your escort ads on the web.

I know of no dealer who will let you have a car on those terms. If you know of one, I'd be interested to hear about it.

All false advertising, no matter what the product or service being sold, is perpetrated for the same reason: the seller thinks buyers will be more likely to buy if he tells a lie than if he tells the truth. If escorts believed most clients didn't care about their age, why would they bother putting an age in their ads at all?

I guess it would depend on where (and how) those years are showing. ONe can do a lot of things to improve appearance, but eventually those years add more than can be removed. I would appreciate honesty, since each age group (escorts and consumers) has its own market. Who's fooling whom?
