Well, another era has passed. The board game Monopoly has replaced the Wheelbarrow, Thimble and the Boot with a T rex, Rubber duck and Penguin. Not that people play actual board games to the extent that they once did, but I was sorry to see the boot go. When I played Monopoly, I usually wanted to be the dog, but if the boot was my second choice. The wheelbarrow appears on at least one of the Chance and Community Chest cards and if I played with wheelbarrow, I would always envision running with it full of cash.

So which token did you prefer? Will the newer tokens appeal to you, if you should find yourself in a Monopoly game?

In checking this out, I see the game now includes a cat and the iron is no longer in the pack of tokens. This is a change that occurred without my notice in 2013. I recall the pieces being Car Top Hat Dog Ship Thimble Wheelbarrow Iron and Boot but there have been other pieces along the way.

Here is a review of the Tokens which have come and gone:

The top hat is my favorite as well. I don't mind getting rid of the old-fashioned pieces like the wheelbarrow and iron. And I'm very glad to see that the #hashtag token didn't win this time around, but I didn't think it would. I don't even know anyone who uses Twitter.

The rubber duck is cute. That might be my new second favorite.

I never knew about the different tokens used in Monopoly until I bought a game for my Godson, because our family had the basic version that had identically formed but differently colored plastic markers. My mother probably saved $2.00 by going that route.

I usually chose the shoe or the thimble.

And soon you'll be asked, "Which piece do you want Charlie, the emoji icon, or the selfie-stick?" :p

It's funny.. kids playing that game nowadays probably don't even know what a wheelbarrow and thimble are. lol "I'll be this thing, I don't know what it is." "Honey, that's a thimble." "A what?"

Maybe they won't recognize the thimble, but wheelbarrows are still regularly used in construction projects.

People still sew so thimbles are still relatively well known, and many homeowners will still have a wheelbarrow in the garage.

I was just trying to be good-humored with you fellows. I don't really think that young'un's under 30 don't know what a wheelbarrow or thimble is.

I joke about their inexperience but I know that in reality Millennials are a hell of a lot smarter than we credit them. More intelligent than Baby Boomers and Gen-X'ers, for sure.

Can I get a "Hell Yeah!" from the Silent Generation?...

Considering I no longer plow, sew, or am a lousy fisherman, I can be o.k. with these executive decisions at Parker Brothers.

If you don't sow, then how is your reaping going?
