There may be nothing more to say here than that it is unfortunate news for any escorts who have only recently began participating or considers participating in the future, as well as for the clientele who benefit from the reviews. I certainly don't claim to know more than that.

It's hard to talk about the idea of making a donation just because the site is valuable while the issue is that it becomes less valuable without reviews. I think @OliverSaks is taking a valid approach. Whether it is ultimately the right way to do it is something I cannot speak to though.

 

First of all, we are discussing science fiction. We do not know yet whether or not the reviews are gone. My understanding is they are staying, just less explicit. Which is bad enough, but it looks like we will keep the reviews.

 

Second, even if the reviews were gone, to many of us these forums are worth to mantain and to support financially per se.

It's sad that you think that reviews can be purchased. They cannot.

 

The FAQ for escorts actually answers the question "How can I get reviewed?" with "Be the best escort you can be and some grateful client will kindly review you." (Or something like that. It's been a decade or so since I read it.)

I totally agree that anyone who finds it worth it to them to maintain and support should seriously consider doing so.

I don't think you understand what I'm saying. I know the reviews aren't purchased for money, but they do a lot for escorts.

Showcase talents/skills/attributes - in short, advertise someone's strengths. It doesn't cost me money, but accomplishes what a good ad can accomplish.

 

I understand that you don't purchase reviews - I don't quite get where you got that out of my statements.

I have asked clients to review me or they have offered; they would have showed up on the site, but with the backlog I'm SOL.

The only escort's review on Daddy's that I read is the most recent. If this is doubtful, I read a few more. The real endorsement is in the history of respect for the escort, or the opposite, that I get from reading the comments in the forum. My point is to start posting new, expurgated reviews immediately to keep the whole thing turning and drop reviews more than say a year old. Some statement can be added that "this escort has _______ older reviews that are not currently available". I agree with @BaronArtz that a long delay to update all the reviews could be disastrous. Focus on new and very recent reviews

I find value in both the Reviews and Forum.

 

The reviews conveniently organize experiential information which is generally of good quality: independently vetted, generally thorough, and theoretically as accurate as an inherently subjective experience can be. The downside is the effort required to compose a good, helpful review discourages some from submitting them. Unless something is seriously amiss, there is no financial element to anything related to the review process.

 

The forum has much more content but is anecdotal and purposefully brief - which is to say, less thorough. The contributions aren't subject to any validation and their veracity has, at times, been questioned. There is heresay and conjecture, uninformed opinion and misinformation. There is a sort of crowd-sourced vetting for some, but that often simply creates a haze of ambiguity. The one big advantage is the volume of content... I'm far more likely to learn something in the forum than the reviews.

 

From my viewpoint they both serve a useful purpose but the absence of the reviews will definitely make a difference.

It's easy to confuse them, because in some cases both can be free, meaning they don't require payment.

 

Advertising is rarely thought of as being free, but if you model in an ad that someone else pays for, the model can reap all the exposure benefit.

 

Publicity is often free, at least it's a lot easier to utilize free publicity outlets to get your name and presence known. However, publicists can charge a pretty penny, which supposedly goes to pay for their ability to get you the best kind of publicity.

We got that from this statement:

Paying to have your reviews moved to the top of the stack, i.e. receiving preferential treatment in exchange for money, is not that different than paying for reviews. It sounds like you did not intend to say that, but you did say it.

 

Perhaps the Forum could charge a fee for editing posts. :eek:

Other than one pending for the last couple of days, my reviews have been posted in a week or less. As far as I know, any of my clients who use daddy's reviews have told me if they wrote a review, and they do appear reasonably promptly. I wish there were as many as have reviewed me on rentmen, but for the length of time I have been participating here, I am not disappointed with the number of reviews.

 

If there is anything you need assistance with that would help with the forum or the reviews, please send me a private message. I have someone who has the time and interest in helping.

I see it as more different than you perhaps, but I respect your opinion.

 

Just because I feel like I'm missing something, and maybe someone can help me understand better:

 

1) Daddy has decided to censor reviews in light of changing times / BP situation

2) Daddy has a substantial amount to edit for both past reviews (and still more reviews that are submitted daily), creating a backlog

3) Due to financial constraints, Daddy is not able to devote much time to the labor and time-intensive task of editing
