I want to lend a vote of support for Daddy's extremely wise course of action. My greatest fear was that he would decide to close the site down. I understand the need for time to make necessary changes. I expect we all will be able to communicate within new guidelines.

I understand the changes he's proposing - I'm excited that he also wants to modernize the system in general.

One question I have - will the reviews also be archived somewhere in their original wording as well as being visible in their edited form? Or will the originals be lost forever?

I feel bad that I never contributed to defraying the cost of this website. Its just one I took for granted. Wonder if contributions would help at this point. Interestingly, there was no request for financial help in Daddy's Jan 15 message.

I'm sure a contribution would always help. No time like the present.

Could someone please screenshot or post the message? I'm firewalled at my place of work, and I'm on the edge of my seat.

Please and thanks!

Mr Oliver, I would certainly post it, but I dont want to be in any violation of TOS rules or site policy, therefore I will send it to you in pvt msg....

One Step Back, Two Steps Forward…

By Daddy 01/15/2017

Las Vegas, NV — Sometimes to make progress you need to take one step back to take two steps forward. With the start of 2017 and what would appear to be the beginning of a more conservative era in the United States I feel it's time to make some much needed changes.

I’ve been subsidizing the website from my other clients for about the last five years. Over that time the website income has decreased to the point where I’ve had to increase my external hours. It’s to the point where I’ve run out of hours in the day to keep up.

One of my clients is in a bind and needs someone full time for a while. It’ll provide me with much needed income and paradoxically give me time to sling code for the site. However, the cost is that I won’t have time to do the production.

Given their actions over the last year or so, it's clear that the government continues to have a low tolerance for adult content that mentions overt sexuality. To survive, the website needs to move back from the edge. This will require that the current review format be changed.

Currently I’m averaging about an hour a review. My goal is to get that down to about 30 minutes a review. The current website design is over 10 years old and sadly out of date. I want to update to the current generation of technology,

I want to update the website design to allow people to login to work with their reviews.

I really want the site to contain reviews that are useful for mature Gay men. A broader base of Reviews that include Bars, Resorts, Bed and Breakfasts, and even Manscapers. Places we can visit and know that we'll feel comfortable and welcome. These other types of reviews will need formats tailored for them.

The problem is that this takes time. Of the 31K reviews in the database, I’d estimate that 10% have been vetted for explicit content. The rest need to be vetted. The review processing updates will take several weeks before I can start the vetting process.

I hope to return to active production in 3-6 months. Until then, the message-forum will remain open.

— Daddy

Perhaps the forward-tendered reviews could be linked to the old ones. The older ones could be looked at but not actually part of the Review (if that is a worry). And I do not think that the Forum would be in any trouble because it would be protected by the 1st Amendment. Or would I be wrong?

I hope that is the case. These incoming anti-civil liberties vigilantes are probably going to push envelopes as far and as soon as they can.

It is a very SAD day today indeed to read this. It is Daddys' site and I am sure Daddy always knows best. The past week has not only seen this setback to our business but also the end of escort ads on BACKPAGE and , down here in Ft. Lauderdale , our leading gay bar rag, "Hotspots" , has stopped accepting all "Body rub" and "modeling" classified ads. All of this after the loss of Rentboy and the shrinking of men4rentnow to nothing- no nude pics....no rates....no reviews while they still charge the same price for advertisers. As I see it there is no difference in saying in the deli that I paid so and so so much cash and he had a great cock so I recommend him. The site is full of unofficial reviews and if we are worried about being incriminated the forum is just as dangerous as are the reviews. As I said it is a sad day as an escort. I just sealed a couple new clients over the weekend by sending them to my Daddys reviews. If we are in real danger then it seems to me that removing all the reviews from public view until they are edited would be sound and prudent. I am NOT advocating that as it is BAD for business but if It is necessary to keep our freedom then it must be considered. Mikey @ www.rentmen.com/magicmikeydc Yall come down to sunny Ft Lauderdale this winter and get cheered up!!!!!

Hi Guys Buffdaddy. I think it may be a rough ride for many of us in the business come this year. A friend of mine who does fetish porn has decided to stop making anymore videos, and will close the site I was told very soon.

Are the old days coming back? You had to go out to get dick!! Every bar was packed every day of the week. Now Backpage, who is next?

What's that saying, "All good things must come to and End" ? It's not like we will be denied

air and water... It's cock, let's all calm down. You wont get blue balls. (however I am NOT dismissing the BIGGER implication of the events)

Personally, I don't think editing the reviews are going to change things. If the site is a target, it's a target and it's probably already too late. Same with sites like M4RN. You can change the verbiage and say this is not a site for escorts, but just "overly, touchy, friendly companions," but the powers that be will see right through it and will find away to prosecute if that's their intention. My guess is that this site is too small and generates too little money for them to bother, but I could be wrong. If I were Daddy I would look at transferring the domain and servers overseas (and perhaps even rebrand) to prevent seizure. Generating income and advertising and being paid in the US is a different matter. That could be seized at anytime, but might prove to not be worth the trouble. Just my 2 cents.

@Buff Daddy I tend to disagree. For those escorts who decide to stay in the game I think it will be fruitful. The number of escorts online at the moment are diluting what few clients there are at least to my understanding. As many guys will not want to take the risk, there will be more clients for the few still working. Also, if the government becomes as scary as we predict and equal rights laws appealed, many men might go back in the closet or keep a lower profile. This might mean that instead of being on a public site or app like Grindr or Scruff, they may revert back to hiring.

This isn't going to stop escorting; it'll scare away some of the guys....but touring names will still tour. ISIS and BLM will be in the spotlight first, not this type of industry. Besides...would be amazed if we last a year without a change in administration.

I tend to agree with you. If it does have a financial impact, it will be a positive one.
