Hook Up Now, Can't Disconnect?

When I click on the "Hook Up Now" in the new reviews I can't leave the site (Back button just like Gaydar works momentarily but goes right back to Hook Up Now) and have to close M4M and then reopen to continue on the site. Is anyone else having the same problem. As I mentioned, Gaydar does the same things so I won't go to anyones site that is hosted by them.

I had the same experience so I won't go back there. In my case I think I even lost my internet connection and had to reboot, Ugh. Maybe Daddy should look into this?

I have the same problem (as flguy). I'm surprised that there would be a link like that on this site. This is the sort of thing I would expect to experience only on unreliable porn sites.

Folks should understand this kind of stuff. Marketing and first impressions are very important.

 

If that "refusal to go back" stuff happens to me, I get out and I never go back. Its an indication of an unreliable site, which will probably introduce viruses and who knows what else.

 

I don't get why Hooboy linked us to this site. But I'm never going back, and I think less of Hooboy for doing it.

Thanks for the helpful advice. However, I for one do not intend to go there again (once bitten, twice shy). The problem is this kind of a link looks innocuous but for the unsuspecting (and perhaps unsophisticated) user of this site, the link is a trap and there is no warning about how to properly use it. I think HooBoy should address this.

No, Barry, I'm not kidding. I find sites like that one are always unreputable and always filled with viruses, trojans, adware, spyware etc. I get irritated by such, and avoid those kind of sites. I am sure that this is another way for Hooboy to make money, but I don't appreciate being annoyed by his money-making schemes. I am not against his money-making schemes, after all this is a very usefull free site, just don't send me to junk sites to do it.

 

I also rarely connect to any link posted by other posters. They usually lead to unwanted places. Rick Monroe links are generally OK (except if they have to do with the Olsen twins).

I went to this site and had several trojans, and spyware the same day. I can't guarantee that it was from this site, but I suspect that is was.

I just tried what Hoo said and when I closed the window to Hook Up Now, it completely closed interent explorer. The EXACT thing happens on GAYDAR. Sorry Hoo, but with so many people saying the same thing, I don't think our settings are wrong. This site holds you captive, and I think it is a poor choice on your part to partner with them when they operate like that.

Sorry, but first impressions are so important. You have lost credibility with this new link, and personallly, I don't need to be linked to a site that requires me to get technical assistance.

 

Maybe the link works for you, but if so many members are having problems with it, then there is a problem. Again, I don't appreciate being directed to sites with technical problems, or that cause me concern or worry about the security of my computer. Despite your lenglthy protestations here, there are problems with that site.

 

I think that I am one of many who will never use that new link, and I believe many other members feel the same way.

Hoo, please re-examine the link. I think the "_target" attribute is set up wrong. What these guys say is true: Hookup opens in the current browser instance and will not give up. The only recourse is to completely close the browser.

 

I went there once when it first showed up, and am disinclined to go back. It's NOT a revenue generator the way it's set up now.

Yep, I just looked at the source. There IS no target attribute, and men4sexnow's script is grabbing the current window.

 

All you have to add is target="_New" and it'll behave exactly as you described above.

 

This really IS broken.

We are taking everything everyone here says very seriously and I am in constant contact with the programmers. Maybe I put it up too soon, so forgive me. I thought it would be a fun addition.

 

I am currently in Thailand with three computers, two of which have none of my M4MER programming code on them and everything is working fine on all three. Over 6,000 people have signed up and the only complaints I have are the few here. We will get it fixed, but I must say I am hurt by the vitriolic personal attacks against me when all I am trying to do is make this site better and earn a decent living.

 

That remark is not aimed at those who offered their suggestions and who, like me, believe there are not problems, only solutions.

 

So the duck may quack on your computer. I am trying my best to turn it into a swan. If you don't like it, do not click on it.

 

There are many more improvements in the works on M4MER which will hopefully continually make this site a fun place to visit (in spite of the Politics Forum.) With computer programming, there are a lot of things that can go wrong in the beginning.

My Favorite term when there is a computer problem is that is is BCC, "between the computer and the chair" and in this case is was most likely my computer and my chair.

I check out all the links within reviews prior to posting. Because of the nature of the business, sometimes an escort lets his accounts expire, the link becomes inactive or redirects to those horrible sites that hang up your computer.

 

I create the links as hyperlinks as a service to our readers and the escorts, even if they are to what some would consider my competitors.

 

With advertising links, when the reviewer takes the time to supply the EXACT URL to the escort's advertisement page, I create a hyperlink to again make it easier to navigate there.

 

If you suspect that these links may hang up your computer, right click on it and select OPEN IN A NEW WINDOW. If you find a bad link, please email me and I will remove the link and the URL.

 

A little extra effort on behalf of the participants and reviewers here help to keep the reviews current and posted quicker. It is much like a cooperative grocery store, or as Blanche Dubois said, "I depend on the kindness of strangers."

I don't give a website repeat visits if I find the content useless, objectionable, unsafe OR if I experience technical problems or navigation challenges. In my case, Hookup NOW lost my attention on both of these counts.

 

The decision not to go back because of content is a personal one. The technical issue is something that certainly can be (and was) addressed.

 

In my opinion, HooBoy and the crew have been more than reasonably responsive (except when there are circumstances beyond their control) in answering our technical questions and addressing our concerns and problems. I especially point to Barry, deej and Daddy, who are not only responsive, but patient as well. I mean, how many times can they say "clean out your cache" without it taking on some kinky, pornographic meaning?

 

Unless someone can point to incontrovertible evidence, I have no reason to believe that this site would enable any action (SpyWare or otherwise) that would compromise the identity of the users or the integrity of their computer systems. There are a lot of scams out there in the web world, but I am VERY comfortable knowing that this enterprise is not one of them.

 

And while I don't need to be reminded that this is a FREE site, I can't be the only one out there who recognizes how much time and effort it takes to keep this site running and that HooBoy does need to have other sources of revenue to keep this site viable. In fact, if HooBoy can find MORE of those sources, it actually guarantees that we benefit from the continued lack of an admission price.

 

Based on a lot of the information I share and receive here on M4M, I view this site as my little golden calf. And while I think its OK to brand it from time to time, let's not barbecue the little fucker. Its just not productive.
