Recent trend of using similar pics

hi forum members ..has anyone else noticed the growing trend of guys using pics of someone's who has an similar body build etc to the escort? I remember about 10–15 years about Kyle Gibson/ Kevin Wilde in LA did this as he said he didn't want his pics out there but chose pictures that were similar to himself..now it seems the same situation is cropping up a few times a month on here. Thoughts??

They use "similar" and some are using that term quite loosely as similar to them means a breathing male in a certain height range

I finally realized one day a few years ago that some of these guys ARE very concerned about privacy and DO try to find similar pictures only to maintain that privacy. I can almost excuse the practice if that's the case.

 

Of course, further inquiry about the pictures is suggested during pre-meet communication.

I know this is a thing. I view many ads where a collage of differing men are depicted, but I have never met a guy who used another's pics, at least not that I can recall. Fakers get automatically screened out from consideration. I wanna know who's showing up, and woe to the faker that ever shows up to meet me. He would see how a pissed off country boy acts.

+1 no one ever points out the "victim's" privacy only whine about pics not being real. Serious repercussions in this privacy regard to a friend of mine whose pics were stolen many years ago.

Age shaving for me is a little easier for me to forgive, because I don't get any fantasy going to associate with a specific age like I might a specific person or body even. I have, however, been extremely disappointed going into a meeting with an escort when (after hiring him from his advertised profile) my 26 year old companion gave me his 38 year old birthday to book his airline reservation. I also would have a very serious problem if an escort misstated his age, for example, as 21, but was 20 and I had planned an evening at a venue that he could not gain admittance to.

I think that using 'similar' pics is the common practice on Backpage. Perhaps I should say not similar at all.

I'm not sure it's a "recent trend". When lots of young Brazilians worked in London in 2005-2010, they often used pics of other guys. When challenged, they always claimed to have a similar muscled physique and/or to be equally good-looking. Invariably they were not.

 

I would always ask to see clear and recent photos before hiring. If a guy hesitated to send them, I explained it was a deal-breaker. I also warned that if they didn't closely resemble their photos, I'd turn them away at the door. I generally offered to send my photos so they'd know who they were meeting. Genuine guys never seemed to have a problem sending me their pics.

"Similar" pictures are not a deal killer for me unless they misrepresent something I liked in the ad. I know a guy who uses pictures of a handsome stranger who posed for him 15 years ago on a beach in Brazil. When we met, I thought that's what he looks like with wet hair. Later, he showed me the originals in an album of his high school year abroad.

 

Smart advertisers will under promise and over deliver.
