But I am in HEAVEN...Pattaya.

My right hand is still paralyzed which is why you may see silly typos and some slightly tardy postings, but I will get up to speed soon, according to my Doctor, Dr. Mau. (Mau means drunk in Thailand.)

What once took me 10 seconds to type now takes about an hour it seems.

But the email I received from you made me cry...unfortunately into my keyboard, so now I must buy another computer...

When my typing speed once again reaches that of Monica Lewinsky, I shall respond to each of your warm wishes personally.

As Fleetwood Mac sang, "Now I know I can't lose as long as you follow"

Sorry for the sappiness. I know I will wake up with the "OH NO's"...

That's when I go "Öh NO, what the hell did I post last night...."

And should I die, please know I dived into the ocean a happy kid who never grew old.

HooBoy - who is getting healthy coming back with a new outlook on life and a vengeance!

Hooboy-your getting better and you positive outlook is the best news I've heard in a long time. Don't worry about the spelling errors-it sure hasn't hurt Vincent Michael'c career. Continue to get well and know that we are thinking about you :-)

Yes, it is! Pattaya is truly like heaven on earth! No place else like it!

Really? Is it that or are you just trying to support the local economy? :)

Ditto

It was a great treat to find Hoo in my lobby today with his beautiful friend. We had a few drinks, a few laughs and a great time. Everytime he comes to my hotel, the staff tells me he is here as they all adore him. I am getting a bit jealous! :)

Hey HooBoy, Glad you are doing better, but what's this about falling down the stairs and hurting your back? This is geeting to sound like a comedy of errors. I know it is none of my business, but are you really getting decent medical care? Alan

This is none of my business either, but a stroke, no matter how minor is not a thing to be taken lightly. I know because I had one about two years ago. It impairs motor coordination in ways that you do not expect. I suggest that you get back home asap, get therapy, and just chill until you get well. Thailand is not going anywhere and you can always return. Get well soon.

Hi Alan,

Morton Salt's certainly seems to be appropriate in my case.

I went to the hospital yesterday, but first I had to stop at the mall across the street from it because I needed a local SIM card for my cellphone.

That lead to other purchases in the mall and before I new it, it was time to get he website published, so I planted myself back at the hotel.

Frankly, since I left the corporate world, my insurance lapsed and I cannot afford to fix what might not even be broken. I am working on getting insurance, but since I live in Europe, it is quite difficult, if not impossible.

When my time comes, it will come, Benjamin Nicholas can have all my broken computers and Enrique CD's. My sunglases can go to Totally Oz, my frequent flyer miles are up for bid and my Magic Memory Eraser can go to everyone who owes me money.

For the record, I seem to be getting better.

Can I be an instigator, by saying welcome to the US of A? The employee costs of corporate sponsored insurance, has gone up over 300% in the last 3 years! Excuse me? YOU can't afford it, given your income? Try affording it at a level of income much less than yours! :(

You might try it on a resident of the US of A. Hooboy lives in Europe.

Hooboy is self-employed. What does corporate-sponsored insurance have to do with anything?

You're looking for a rant in the wrong place.

Hooboy,

Could you get a better price if you tried negotiating ahead of time. Doctors in Europe, especially the U.K., make much less than those in the U.S. so I wonder if they would give you a good deal.

You might also be able to negotiate a good price on physical therapy.

You are taking a big risk if you fail to get a check up after a stroke. The check up should cost less than a weekend or two with an escort and could prevent another, much more serious, stroke.

Matt,

I reject being an old person slowly, slip, sliding away in pain with no quality of life just to stay alive and watch TV while doctors siphon what little money I have.

I am not criticizing or being judgmental, it is simply my choice that should I have a stroke or some other debilitating condition to literally go jet skiing into the sunset.

(edited spelling error is all.)

Hey HooBoy,

You could do a lot worse than Pattaya! Or Bangkok, or Phuket for that matter!

When I was a sailor, I couldn't wait to drop anchor and trou there. The beaches (do they still offer massages on Jomtien Beach?), boys and sleazy Boyz Town are all great fun.

Well, if you had to seek convalescence, I couldn't think a more welcoming and hospitable place.

Get well soon, and don't get sand in your keyboard.

Hi Mick!

Sand in my ass is what I try to avoid. <wink>

Wine in my keyboard is what I worry about.

The key to this place is RESPECT.

It is inbred and the norm with the people here. And when you return the respect, a whole new world of magic, outside of the sex stuff, opens to you, enriching your life beyond anything imaginable.

Hope to see you again soon.

Also, contrary to what many Americans have been brainwashed into, quality medical care is available abroad, even in "developing" nations. That's certainly the case in Thailand, where very good medical care is available, at least in Bangkok. In most cases, uninsured care costs considerably less in other countries than it does in the U.S. If you're American, uninsured, and have a serious medical problem, you'll probably be in luck if it happens when you're abroad!!!

Some people, myself included, wondered if HooBoy was doing all he could to take care of himself after the stroke. I have had a couple of major illnesses and am concerned about HooBoy.

No one suggested that medical care in Asia, or anywhere else, was inferior to that in the USA.

You hit the nail on the head.

Thailand is unlike any other place on earth (possible runner-up, Bali): the people are amazingly evolved and intrinsically kind. It's just part of the national fiber.

When you get back to NYC, give a shout.

Be well,

Mick
