I will leave the escort's identity private. I saw a posting on social media that was a bit alarming. I'm not passing judgment by any means, I just don't want to contribute to a potential overdose. But on the other hand, if I'm satisfied with their services---what they do with my payment shouldn't matter, right? Advice please!

It could dissuade me from hiring if I knew it was contributing to a severely unhealthy drug habit or if he used my payment to support a republican candidate or the republican party. Anything else would not matter to me.

My middle name happens to be Joseph NOT Messiah. I find it difficult to change myself and virtually impossible to change anybody else. I grew up with a non-abusive alcoholic father. After many years of trying to change his behavior I simply gave up. He didn’t want to alter his drinking so it wasn’t going to happen. Now if the escort, about whom you speak, is deriving pleasure and enjoys his addiction there isn’t a damn thing you are going to do to alter his behavior including not hiring him. Now if not hiring him makes YOU feel better then go ahead and don't hire him but don’t except that fact to change his life – IT WON’T

I have the inkling that you already know what is the correct answer and you are just trying to look to confirm your hunch.

 

That first tugging at your gut that you felt when you found out might give you the answer. And the answer you got might not be correct for others, but it is correct for you.

Exactly if the OP knows the escort will buy drugs with the money, is the OP's choice to keep hiring him (and enabling the habit/addiction) or not.

 

I also wonder if the OP is "outsourcing" his judgement, yet I think this is a great subject, he started the thread with good intentions, and I'm sure many of us have thought about it.

 

I've met many escorts who retired with absolutely nothing but stories about their careers, some of them spent their money in drugs, others in clothes and very few of them in bad investments.

None of my business how he spends his money. I might give him some advice... IF AND ONLY IF he asked. That being said, I would be very hesitant about seeing a substance abuser as he may be volatile or not be able to engage at the level I expect.

Well of course it would if he boldly threw it in my face. For example, no way I would hire any escort, I don't care how good looking if they boldly stated in their ad that 20% of every hire went to fund terrorism, or blatantly anti positions I am passionate about (like he supports big game hunting or banning gay people from adoption). More than likely, however, he is not going to be so bold as to advertise what he is spending his money on, and therefore, it will not influence me in any practical sense.

 

I think I would not like to actively be an enabler for a substance abuser as well, again if and only if I had first hand knowledge.

 

I don't see why I could not similarly be positively influenced , like 10% of every hire going to a charity or cause I strongly believe in.

Other than routine bills and debts, I don't know how guys spend their earnings. But I've said before, if a companion makes no attempt to separate his personal social media from his business identity, I will read it, and yes, I have avoided some guys because of what they post online. Some worldviews are just too bizarre.

If an escort's personal choices make you uncomfortable, then you have the choice to cease hiring him and look elsewhere. If you are satisfied with his service(s), then what he does with his money is absolutely none of your business. And because familiarity breeds contempt, I would also advise not following him on social media.
