They tried to be cute and slip in a "straight" contestant. Spent many weeks in suspense wondering who was the culprit. I always enjoyed the light hearted Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. Very campy and silly, but enjoyed watching in the hot summer when nothing else much is on. I'll probably give the new Gay Bachelor show a look. I just enjoy seeing gay folks on TV that are not totally stereotypical. For example, the fact that Sulu on the new Star Trek movie is gay and portrayed not as a scandal or novelty but simply as a part of the story will be a good thing to see.

I'm with you about Sulu, but the guys in the link look quite stereotypical to me.

This seems like a great idea. This guy is bringing them untold amounts of press for the show. I'm puzzled by is the extreme hate in the gay community for this guy though. This is a reality show. Not the Miss America Beauty Pageant Show.

I have written here before that I met James from "Boy Meets Boy," when he did a bit of acting in NYC. Nice guy, shy. More sexy in person than on TV.

 

Most important, his great pal, Andra (I believe that is her name) was not there to take over the conversation.

You know they're gonna have 2-4 guys per shared bedrooms. These guys aren't gonna sleep with each other? Hel-lo!! They are gay!!

 

I don't care if you tell 'em if there is "fraternization" between contestants they will be ejected from the house and you have closed-circuits thruout the house. It's gonna be like a bathhouse.

After I met James, I watched all the episodes again (dvd rental). Watching the show again, Andra's appearnce was fast forward time.

Poor James, I hope James has a boy frriend now

He seemed too nice for reality tv. I'm sure the producers wanted her there for the drama.

 

Remember when they told James the "some of them are straight" twist? And Andra got so mad because the producers had deceived her! lol

The term for such female hangers-on used to be "fag hag." I don't know what we're supposed to call them in this more PC world, lol.

 

The show, which (as I seem to remember) wasn't so awful once you realized it was pointless, would have been SO much better without her.

There were some nice moments on the show--such as when the one guy helped James who was very apprehensive about rock climbing.

 

And, to me, "fag hag" denotes a woman who hangs around with a gay guy only because he's gay. I think Andra really was James' friend--she was just annoying as hell.
