I have written here before that I met James from "Boy Meets Boy," when he did a bit of acting in NYC. Nice guy, shy. More sexy in person than on TV.

 

Most important, his great pal, Andra (I believe that is her name) was not there to take over the conversation.

 

James came across as a real douchebag on TV and, apparently (surprise), much of the show was faked as he had a boyfriend before he even went on the show. Andra was a piece of work. She seemed to control him, don't know why he let that happen. He went on the show hoping for a big acting career. It never happened. I've heard that they don't even speak anymore.

I didn't think he came off as a dbag. I think he came off more as not terribly bright - kind of made me think of when Jon Hamm was on 30 Rock as the guy who's so handsome everybody assumes he's smart too and ignores that he's an idiot. He was never to my memory obnoxious like everyone seems obligated to be these days.

I will say I did not believe several of the allegedly straight contestants. I think they were in the closet and this show was dipping their toe in the water.

James is likely smart enough to have a decent job. I mentioned talking to James about 6 months after the show. MrMiniver is right about show business. He was reading for a part in a film the day we met. Rather than dbag, I would say James is a nice guy, with under developed social skills.
