It is interesting that nobody who ever may have talked with the killer in Pulse has come forward.

I've seen interviews with people who said "Oh, that's Omar. He's a regular." Apparently he wasn't there EVERY weekend but often enough to be considered a regular.

"The Terrorist" nope, I'm not afraid. More like "The Coward" "The Punk Ass Bitch" "Pussy Little Bitch" or "Its not my fault it's my parents" would of all been a better name to name him. Terrorists crashed planes on 9/11, this guy doesn't deserve to be called a terrorist. Sorry if this upsets or pisses anyone off, but we're all entitled to our opinions and I'm not letting that asshole win!

The only person it would piss off is him himself. Unfortunately, I'm sure someone told him that numerous times already. that's the kind of talk that drove him to do what he did. Apparently he was bullied throughout school and was socially awkward. It's always the bullied boy/man that turns into a psycho killer.

I'm sure he already knew he was all those things. But without the help of a mental institution in Russia, equality and appropriate gun laws, it became what happened.

Can everyone say, mocha....you were right along? Was I not the first person who suspected this very notion from the get go? It wasn't random, it was too specific to be random. Pardon if this belongs in political, but I think it's so broad. I think now we will be looking at issues like examining the level or lack of equal acceptance in the gay community (as I recently spoken about) and are gay apps really safe?

Catiness and bitchiness aside, it's needing to be realized that even the ill and evil come looking for acceptance in the gay scene. They usually don't find it. We need to increase support and alerted vigilance.

Does being gay lessen the severity of this tragedy? the bottom line is that 49 people were killed by another person. When was it that killing other people around us became a choice for dealing with inner demons, homophobia, or whatever. We need to be better than just getting down such levels of depravity. I am so saddened by the killing. I'm even more sad by the fact that the group of people who i most closely identify with (LGBTQ) were targeted. But it makes me mad that we minimalize this by saying it was about human beings. Get real, lets not mince words and try to lessen the severity. Make no mistake, we need to be even more aware that homophobia is alive and flourishing in 2016. For most of my life, I've felt marginalized and dismissed. It was sheer determination that keep me to get through some tough times. After so long, when I finally thought I could take a breath and relax, it is absolutely not the case. We have to be aware of what we are facing around us and we must remain vigilant in our push to live our lives the ways we want to, without having to look over our shoulders. We need to take this as a wake up call and strive even harder to preserve our rights. Don't allow that political strategy of taking a moment of silence derail us from whats going on. Even after things calm down a bit and we go back to "life as usual", don't. Its never going to be usual. Its our right to be upset and to do something to change our plight. Our lives are at stake.....

I don't think anyone is looking to "lessen the severity" of this tragedy.

I don't think it is about lessening the tragedy, but about pointing out that this was a case of local terrorism and not an attack from Isis or any other foreign enemy. It is also about pointing out to the complexity of human motivation and human psicology. It is also about pointing out to the consequences of growing up in a hateful and self loathing environment. And I am sure there are friends here than can keep adding to the list.

I really hope this is reported as and shifted towards an understanding of this killer's motivations as being rooted in internalized homophobia. In spite of his last minute ISIS allegiance, the evidence is thin that he had any connection at all to the terrorist group (his declaration was likely a diversion to hide his sexual orientation). The evidence keeps piling up that he acted out of self-loathing and hatred for the gay community he so desperately wanted to be a part of.

But was he good in bed?

Too soon, too soon...I'm sure gawker will release some spicey info down the line

But now, even more spicier information is coming to the front:

http://www.alternet.org/sex-amp-relationships/fbi-told-orlando-shooters-wife-not-tell-us-media-he-was-gay

they're trying to downplay from what it really was (a bunch of stupid bullshit), to pushing it to be an "act of foreign terror". Hell...I wouldn't even be surprised if Mateen HIMSELF had the intention of covering his tracks and causing confusion by using Islam/ISIS as the scapegoat. When all along, it was just a ploy to hide the fact of what is REALLY was about...fueled perhaps a little bit, by what Isis is doing to gays. But it's not like Isis made him gay, he was gay before Isis became established. That's why he called the police on himself.

Let's change this from "radical Islamic terrorists" to "crazy ass Americans". When??????? When is America going to say that. Crazy ass Americans. Look at the other incidents that have preceded this: The Venice beach incident and the Las Vegas incident where both people (Americans) drove their cars into a crowd of people for no reason.

By stating the terrorist was gay, and the club targeted was gay, we can get off this abominable ISIS theat, and focus more on building Russian style asylums for all the crazy people here. We don't need more "luxury apartments in the city", we need mental asylums, and probably add "acceptance of gay and/or sexuality" as a required course in middle and high school...as that's when most of he identity crisis develops, in these American schools. That's the only sympathy I can have for this shooter himself. I've seen what happens (Former Tampa Bay coach Tony Dungees son was in several of my classes) when some these kids face identity crisis in their earlier years. Some are lucky and find support and grow out of it, others carry it with them for life.

The politicians don't wanna hear that though.

That one FBI agent asked her not to emphasize the gay angle does not mean it's a cover up.

He had a history of anti-western sentiment. Several people who went to school with him said he cheered on 9/11 and was sent to the principal's office for it.

It's a confluence of the two motives. He hated gay people for whatever reason, maybe because he hated himself. Who would celebrate some random person who walks in and kills 49 people because he hates homosexuals? Maybe the Westboro Baptist Church, but they're kind of ridiculous. But pledge allegiance to ISIS, and you'll be glorified by hundreds of thousands of men fighting for (what they call) Islam. Like I said, ISIS deliberately courts people like this who might have other motives to kill. Maybe they'll even put your photo in their slick monthly magazine.

We just don't know though if he actually hated them. I just don't buy it all the way. I mean, he was all on jack'd and Grindr and the gay bars. The average straight man doesn't have time to be wasting time at gay bars. Granted, this wasn't an average man either.

I think he loved and wanted to be loved by gay people, but for whatever reason (he felt) they didn't love him back. Let's just call it what it is. Schizo and bi-polar, which were worsened by the constant stream of current events and unrest in the Middle East. The kid didn't have a record, so he wasn't a career criminal. He was a mind fuck. Mind fucks, and people who are oppressed by demons because of their weakened state of mind, will use the world as their scapegoat. they're not going to just come out and admit it. The FBI fell short in its duties to see thru that.

I think what shocks people is they don't believe a REAL gay person could so such a thing. I believe otherwise. Wasn't someone just talking about Jeffrey Dahlmer before this happened? I do agree with your assessment, but rather than it being a cover up, I still think the religious part of this whole thing is somewhat a scapegoat. It seems indicative of how he also admired; as the article states, both ISIS and the group fighting against ISIS.

I'll just say 2 things, without taking duest respect from those who are in memory: I'm glad that mother fucker wasn't Black, as I hoped not. So thank God for that. Obviously a blow for our Middle Eastern friends though. And I'm glad he knew nothing about any escort sites or events. But it also indicates that his intent had more meaning to it, especially being he shot up the same club he always went to. Not random at all!

I'm confused.

How can a man twice married to women and father of a child with on of them be Gay, wouldn't he be described as Bisexual?

Granted it's the third initial rather than the first but this food poked a couple gals, too.

L-G-B-T

1-2-3-4

If it makes any sense to you, I had a friend who would cruise craigslist, the street, Grindr, and any random oppurtunities he could get...to suck a white cock. Specifically a white one. He was middle eastern. However, I'd ask him a million times, why isn't he settling down with just one...he'd say, "because I'm going to marry a woman one day." Meanwhile...wondering why these guys don't "want to meet regularly".

MoFos out here cant decide who they want to be. That's why I'm going to write a petition to start requiring "understanding/acceptance of sexuality" in middle and high school (because much of the gay torment begins in middle school, a separate section can be taught in high school) These foreign kids come to America and get their fucking heads twisted 360 don't know who the fuck they are.
