You may have said this already above, and I think I knew the answer, but let me ask if it's repetitive. All the "reviews" you read of this guy were on Rentmen, right?

Correct me if I'm wrong, somebody, but I don't think Rentmen has anything like the review verification process of this site, if they have any process at all.

I am hardly an expert on Rentmen. My recollection of the ongoing adventures of "The Traveling Pack" is that at one point there were only a few reviews of one of them, all of which were flattering to the point of sounding transparently false. Like one review said "the guy was straight, he did nothing, and I felt honored to simply gaze it his Godlike beauty, and buy him a meal." At a future point, recently, some bad reviews appeared, which I assume are real. That itself suggested a problem: the review were either over the top great, or over the top shitty.

Yes, I didn't find this site until a week ago. And yes, he has a 411 thread on this site with generally positive reviews, so I presume he only robs new clients who are new to the escort thing and behaves himself with seasoned clients.

Steven,

With RM's abbreviated review format, there isn't much latitude. Don't know exactly how RM would verify a review. Probably, they should concentrate on verifying the escorts. Anyway, I have a system for evaluating RM reviews which I discussed with Keith in the latter part of the following thread:

http://www.companyofmen.org/threads/rm-escort-reviews.114682/#post-1102186

Update. The person who initiated the above thread just reported that he submitted his (positive) review a second time to RM. He got a message from RM that they are verifying his RM account which might take up to 15 days. If that is what they are doing with reviews from persons with new accounts, it is great news.

Is hiring really that risky that people use toss away phones etc? Is the risk legal or just with regards to reputation? How common is it for escorts to extort customers?

I would think in this case that the client could push back and say "Look, I won't review you at all but if you share my personal information and will give you the worst review ever and give the police your contact info". Seems like a worker is far more vulnerable than a client.

Geez, the few times I have made contact, I used my cell phone, an email that has my last name and I told the person my real first name. I wouldn't love for people to be told about it but it wouldn't end my career and I'm not married. I just don't see why any escort with a profile and reviews would extort. They could lose everything while the client would mostly just be embarrassed.

I have also wondered about the safety of this site. I'm pretty much an open book on here. Maybe I shouldn't be.

It depends on your life circumstances. I'm semiretired now after my last start-up, but when I was in that world, the drama created by being outed by an escort would've been incredibly destructive. Now, I mostly worry about it because I promised absolute discretion to my wife and I wouldn't want to disappoint her given how awesome our marriage is and protecting my family and my current career matters too.

I use a voip number for calls and texts and it's tied to a standalone generic email account. The only commonality would be the ip address when I connect while at home or work. Discovering such info and making such connections would require a decent hacker or detective, which I seriously doubt anyone would bother with because I'm not a state level or national public figure.

It's unfortunate that he's submitting a positive review after being bullied into it, but I totally understand where he's coming from. He has to prioritize his discretion and safety.

Misunderstanding. Crossed threads. Not the same person who was being threatened. Someone else who was having trouble submitting a RM review. I posted the other thread as a response to something Steven Kesslar posted about the integrity of RM reviews on this thread. Sorry for the confusion.

One other idea came to mind that I don't think anyone has said. To both Jock and LivingnLA, another thing you might consider that is discreet and safe is to contact Daddy via email or phone and let him know the details of what happened, including the name of the escort:

[email protected]

This may be a safer way to do something, if you care to, and the community at large has something to gain by adding some more information directed to someone who is discreet and in a position to do something with it. As I've thought about it some more and I think about my edgiest experiences on this site there is a fine line between things that on the one hand fan the fire you want to go out, and on the other hand things that are simply capitulating to threats. Finding a fine line is always a difficult thing. And the sad but true part of this which you've now figured out Jock is there is no "magic silver bullet solution." If anything there is only the opposite: the easy way out, capitulating to a threat, tends to reinforce the worst behavior. My own experience is that contacting Daddy privately was always a good step that did no harm and some good, even if it didn't change anything visible in public.

One other anecdote I'll add to reinforce my point was I was on the wrong end of something threatening when a former client was stalking me and threatening to out me to my family if I didn't agree to some demands he was making. He was using the forum to get at me in "coded" ways and as soon as I contacted Daddy privately about something I basically didn't want anyone to know about, Daddy did a few things that helped. I also got a temporary restraining order and hired a lawyer to write a "cease and desist" letter. The latter step I came to regret as an overreaction, in part because it gave someone looking for a platform to harass me a new way to do so, by giving him an opportunity to demand to "negotiate" with my attorney. My point is that it is a fine line. I don't blame you for just wanting this to go away, and it doesn't make sense to fuel the fire.

At some future point I ended up in a public place where the guy who was stalking me also happened to be, and he approached me to make a simple and short apology. I took it as sincere, and in retrospect I wish that I had done a little less, but I'm also very glad I did something because I think it resulted in a good enough outcome both for me and the guy who needed to grow up. You live and learn, and it helped me grow up, too.

Don't hire an escort based on how many wonderful reviews, the escort has on RM or DaddysReviews.

That is a very good point. When I see an escort with a huge number of positive reviews, either on this website or on others, I do not to hire that escort. It's a red flag.

I hope you are reading this, EOY-Baby!

BaronArtz I have a question regarding the following quote: "When I see an escort with a huge number of positive reviews, either on this website or on others, I do not to hire that escort. It's a red flag." Does that mean that you wouldn't consider hiring the following escorts because they each have numerous positive reviews on this site:

AJ Irons

Alec Andrews

Andrew Justice

Andrew Maroc

Dane Scott

Kristian Elix

Mike Gaite

Rod Hagan

Steven Kesslar

Tristan Baldwin

Offbeat question here: How did Marylander, in post#32, quote Caliguy, from post#33-- which came AFTER Marylander's post. Has he figured out a way to beat the time-space continuum?

Exactly! I prefer the fresh up-and-coming talent. Or guys that are entirely below everybody's radar screen.

This thread serves as a great reminder to guard your personal information and to simply walk away if the escort demands more personal information than you feel comfortable giving (such as a land-line based telephone number or a picture of yourself). Only you can safeguard your own identity and are ultimately responsible for your own personal safety.

Take it from me. Only an idiot would hire that asshole.

Anyhoo, I already offered BaronArtz to take him to a fancy dinner and donate my fee to charity if he hired me. It was part of my self promotion campaign.

You can lead a whoremonger to water, but you can't make him drink.

The truth is that those of us who hire escort must ALWAYS be prepared for the possibility of public exposure. If the fact that we hire escorts would or might destroy our source of income or our relationship with others then we probably SHOULD NOT be hiring escorts. That type of vulnerability makes us excellent candidates for blackmail. There is absolutely NO WAY we can make exposure an absolute impossibility.

While I agree that we can't make exposure an absolute impossibility, we can seriously diminish the risk to the point of VIRTUAL impossibilty.

My So-Far-100%-Effective Strategy:

1) Buy at CVS/Walgreens/Rite Aide/Walmart or wherever they sell them a seperate cell phone are often called burner phones. These are temporary phones which you will use for escort business ONLY. Therefore, you will keep your regular phone, too. Pay CASH for the burner phone so it can't be traced via your credit card back to you. I've bought Trac Phones. Very cheap and easy. $20 for the phone and $30 for 3 months of a data plan with internet/talk/texts. Buy with CASH a credit card gift card. When you register the gift card, don't use your real information (see number 2 below). You will pay for the data plan via this gift card (that can't be traced back to you). So you will leave the store with 3 things: the phone, the data plan (it will probably be in a gift card format), and a credit card gift card.

2) Once you have bought the phone, at home you will need to "register" it using the gift card to pay for the data plan. Use a an address zip code from a state where you DON'T LIVE. Use a zip code where you don't live. Go to Google and find this bit of information first before you start the registration process so are ready with it when you register the phone. Make up a birthday that's not your true one. Write this all down so you have it 3 months later when you add data/time to the plan (at that point you don't need to buy a new burner phone, just add minutes/data to it). It's all easy now.

3) Make ALL phone calls/texts/emails to your escorts via this "special" burner cell phone. Don't mix them up. This way you don't need to block your number and can text freely. Usually the phone stays in a drawer as its not your daily use phone. So it's not a burdensome pocket item. Make sure you have set up with Google email or wherever an email account that is for ESCORT BUSINESS ONLY. FYI: I know you wanna use this as your screen name, but I already took it [email protected]. Sorry, but it just fits me.

4) When you make the hotel reservation in advance, inform the hotel you want to be "incognito". This means they will release your name or hotel room number to NO ONE that calls and asks. They won't admit to any inquiry that you are present.

5) Use a FAKE NAME with your escort. Do you actually think your escort is using his real name with you? Most likely he is not. Fair is fair. PLEASE don't tell him your name is Tom Cruise. That's MY real name. And I don't need more National Inquirer drama, ok?

6) DO NOT send pics of yourself. Do not allow him to take pics of you in your time together. A true professional escort doesn't need pics of you and wont ask for pics. Do not describe to your escort what you look like or your real age. If you gotta say something, add 10 yrs to your real identity. Add 40 lbs if you must (reason is in #8). When he meets the real you, he will be pleasantly surprised.

7) Put your valuables in the room safe. Still concerned? Just before the session, put your wallet, real cell phone, passport, tablet, non-escort money, jewlery in the hotel safe in the front desk for a few hours. Then your identity and valuables are really safe.

8) DO NOT give him your room number, even if he asks. Ask him to describe what he's wearing and tell him you will meet him in the lobby, the hotel bar, or out in front. He doesn't know what you look like but you (should) know him. If he looks drugged out, sketchy, or not like his pics, silently walk away. Your safe because he doesn't know any real information or what you really look like.

Guys, most escorts are beautiful and wonderful and would never DREAM of harming or blackmailing you. But you are (very) foolish if you think you are exempt from the monsters of the world. Most of our escorts are younger and stronger than us and might resort to nefarious acts. Protect yourself.

Make sure before hand you have scrubbed your treeth, body, and insides well; pay for the escorts parking; and (even if its a mediocre session) tip well. They deserve it.

To all my escorts, those who I have met, and those I have not: despite my urgent privacy, I have loved all my times with you. Those times have brought joy, meaning, healing, excitement, and beauty into my world. How very much loved you are. I'm looking forward to the next session.

Be safe everyone.

Write any sort of review you want. This little fuckface is not going to do shit. IF for some insane reason he did, my advice is--heresy--turn around & drop a dime to the po-po. Yes, I said that on an escort review website...but sometimes you just have to take out the trash.

Speaking of reviews - or being bullied into writing a review, what about this situation?

The below linked escort ad shows that the escort has twenty reviews on rentmen.

Eighteen of those twenty reviews are glowing with five star ratings.

However, two of the twenty reviews have a one star and three star plus they say the pictures are outdated and that they would not hire the guy again.

https://rentmen.com/RENTANDRES/reviews/

Please explain to me, like I was a ten-year old, how to interpret the escort's reviews. Are eighteen reviews fake because the escort bullied the client to write positive things?

Are two reviews wrong?

Difference of chemistry?

Or?

Ahha!!! Andres!

Mine is one of those reviews (and I submitted a Daddy's review as well) and there is a thread about him - http://www.companyofmen.org/threads/andres-nyc-cover-guy.96092/#post-1096183

I advised anyone who was considering hiring him to PM me and I could expand on what I was not able to say in the forum or review - a topic which I understand is hyper-sensitive on the Forum.

I don't want to violate any of Daddys rules by putting any review material on the board. I've submitted a review and I'd be happy to PM in the interim.

Several people did and I discovered that what I learned about him the hard way wasn't uncommon and not in any reviews.

So - to your broader question, the review is correct in the limited context of the RM questions but there is allot more to know about him before hiring.

I don’t know. There is not enough detail in the reviews. Also, not enough detail about the reviewers.

Or?

Rentmen reviews have four questions. The answers are multiple choice. One question is useful. “Are phots accurate?” “Recommend” is useless. There is no way to add an explanation. You can’t interpret the reviews. There is nothing to interpret.

Note: This reply was written to a fifth-grade reading level, per the Flesch-Kincaid readability test. You got your wish: explained like you were a ten year old. :)

Rvwnsd is correct...RM reviews are pretty worthless. I had posted a one-star review on an escort recently and like a fart that's vanished in the wind it has suddenly been removed. RM sent me an email that it had been published, something I logged on to verify. One day it was there, the next it's gone. Go figure!

Yes, it all makes sense, however, I don't think undercover CIA agents in Syria go to that much trouble. Precautions should be in proportion to the level of risk.

Curiosity speaks -

The last few posts (and other posts that are shown in other threads) pretty much established that "reviews" shown on rent-men escort ads are next to useless.

Considering that reviews have little, if any value, what is the point in rent-men including reviews in an escort's advertisement?

Reviews on rent-men can be manipulated.

Nothing prevents an escort from pretending to be a client submitting a review. Or, a review can be written by a friend of the escort. Or, an escort can pressure a client to write a positive review.

Worse, bad reviews, can be deleted.

In view of the foregoing facts, what is the point of a rent-men review except to give possible false assurance to clients?

Rentmen's inclusion of reviews for escorts, is tantamount to rent-men endorsing the escort.

Am I being too harsh on rent-men?

Posted

I think you are being too harsh on Rentmen. Nothing forces a user to read or pay attention to the reviews on that site. I agree they are useless, but so what? I usually do not read them. Problem solved.

Thanks for your response.

I am a bit puzzled by your statement - "Nothing forces a user to read or pay attention to the reviews on that site." and "I agree they are useless, but so what?"

When a review is presented, the review is part and parcel to the escort's ad.

There must be a purpose or motivation behind the reviews.

Why does rentmen go through the motions of "verifying" the review?

Why does rentmen delete reviews that are not complimentary to an escort?

I remain curious about rentmen's "review" process. The process seems less than efficient.
