Congratulations. It's a beautiful watch. I have one Rolex and really like it. I wear a different watch each week but the Rolex at least one week a month. I've already decided who will get it when I'm gone and I know it will mean a lot to him.

Do you really use the functions on the Daytona? That's why I got an Explorer I: No bling. Those in the know knew it, and no one else did.

Unfortunately, I put it in my bedroom when I went in for a hip replacement, and I haven't seen it since. Sigh. It's probably under the bed.

Mine is the Yellow Gold submariner with blue face so its uncomplicated. I rarely use the stop watch/other functions on watches I have with those capabilities - but I like the look!

Pretty! I would love to own:

  • The Deepsea Diver with the blue gradient face
  • The new "Pepsi" with ceramic bezel, but it only comes in Platinum.

Roommate?

Yes, and no, it wasn't he.

I found a photo of My Precious:

Several dealers told me they'd never seen that dial before.

A few years ago I was going on a cruise, and I pulled a Rolex and a Baume & Mercier out to have them cleaned for the trip.

Come on up, enjoy the air,

And kiss my Baume & Mercier

And maybe if we share some slow sex,

I will let you wear my Rolex

The shirt is stunning....

Oh burrrrrn. ;) But it is indeed a stunning shirt.

Interestingly, I like the look of this PP better than that of the other models, which retail in the mid-six figures. I'm a modest girl at heart, I guess.

My only observation on cruises would be that the people you see on board never look like the guys in the brochure...

A Rolex that once belonged to Paul Newman became the most expensive wristwatch ever sold in an auction as it fetched $17.8 million Thursday night in New York.

The stainless-steel Daytona Rolex was the star of a special 50-lot evening sale, “Winning Icons -- Legendary Watches of the 20th Century,” at Phillips auction house. The timepiece had been estimated at more than $1 million. The previous record for a wristwatch belonged to a stainless-steel Patek Philippe that sold for $11.1 million at Phillips in November.

i'm sorta meh on rolex. I've got a few and they never keep time too well. to me, it's a waste of a time piece if they can't keep time accurately

I've never been a big fan of Rolex watches but have always want to own a Piaget. The problem is I have never been willing to spring from the amount of money to buy one.

I has always been a fan of a "good watch"... and would indulge. But when watches became more "fashion" than necessity, I found myself wanting watches to MATCH every outfit, and dropping thousands to achieve this was NOT an option.... Plus when more style options became available, and knockoffs flooded the market, there was actually an alternative to spending thousands for a timepiece. What I learned is that noone even knows the difference. I often got more compliments on my cheap knockoffs and Trendy watches than on my multi-thousand dollar ones. So to ask the question "does an expensive watch Define you" ? the answer is Hell NO unless a watch expert is weighing in, and then WHO THE FUCK CARES ?

I was reading in the NYPost (very reliable source, right?) that in the past month 2 men, on separate occasions, lost watches, one reported a 35K watch and the other lost a 15K watch. Both men (from out of town) reported meeting a woman in a bar and went back to their hotel with them. Upon awakening, both men said the girl was gone, as were their watches. It made me realize that there are still guys that love their watches and will wear it. The only question i have is how do these "fast" women discern what type of watch a man is wearing??? I mean, i never flash my wrist or watch. I only peek at it when i need to see the time. I have a mild hobby of collecting Cartier. However, i still have a Rolex that was given to me years ago that I keep in my office in case i forget to wear my watch.

I really don’t get watch enthusiasts, I haven’t owned a watch since 1998, since mobile phones turned up where I was.

Once you have a phone, who needs something else to know the time?

If they had been gay and taken back a male escort this would never have happened! ;-)))))

"What time is it?"

BTW, I'd call her a professional thief rather than a "fast woman."

For myself, as an enthusiast of fine watches, they are not about keeping time. I wear them as anyone would wear a piece of jewelry. I appreciate them for there beauty and admire them for the precision of the craft. My two favorites were left to me by my father who passed on. He was a depression baby, and came from humble beginnings, so for him, it was a symbol of his success and accomplishments in life. I wear the Rolex's to honor him. My Nephew, who is 11 years old, has already asked that I leave them to him when I leave this earth. God willing, they will survive more than a couple of generations.

That would be piece of memorabilia worth having. I can't imagine -it wearing Paul Newman's watch.

I have several watches but my 1969 Explorer is one of my favourites. Ian Fleming wore one. As did, of course, Sir Edmund Hillary.
