Countryboywny posted as I was writing this and I wholeheartedly agree with him: the answers you receive could be entirely at odds with what your own impressions would be, whether as a matter of personal taste, or because both "handsome" and "plain" can be dramatically offset by other attractive or unattractive qualities.

I find that some of the best looking guys do not show their face in their ads...

I've also had that experience. (And I wonder if some guys who are not conventionally handsome, or who are older, choose to show their faces in their advertising to avoid the risk of unpleasant reactions at the door.) Personally, seeing a fellow's face before we meet is not a requirement for me and--oddly enough--the only time I was "disappointed" it was by someone who looked exactly as I knew he would. (Somehow, in person, there was just no attraction, and no luck at all with trying to find one. Knowing what his face looked like guaranteed nothing.)
