Hope this doesn't sound silly, but let's have 1 day... just 1 day... part of 1 day... where all our posts are positive, happy, funny, etc. Tomorrow, Sunday, between 6 am and 6pm. Is that possible? Nothing negative, sarcastic, bitchy at all to be posted. No negative, depressing stories. Look, we all get bitchy sometimes. For example, like when a call Seaboy a little piggy. I do it in jest not with malice. We all know Seaboy isn't a piggy.... well he is but that's another story....... Anyway let's move on.

That's my proposal. Maybe we have to force ourselves to hold our tongue but self restraint can be a 'good thing'. No, I'm not quoting Martha Stewart.... haha.

Just a thought. Of course, if it does sound silly and stupid, trust me, it's not the first nor the last stupid thing I'm going to post.

It does not sound silly at all! As one who comes here to escape the negativity that seems to surround us in our daily lives I totally agree. That's why in my own silly manner I often make an effort to bring a touch of wit into my postings. Would that my feeble attempts were a bit more inventive and imaginative, but at least I try!

 

Of course... LOL... that means that the Political Forum would most likely have to close its doors between the hours of 6 AM to 6 PM as the few times that I have glanced down there (mostly inadvertently) I have not seen much love or for that matter tolerance exhibited among the various factions who live there. Still to each his own, but that's some of the very stuff that I come here to escape.

 

However, at times pessimism and rancor reveals its ugly head in other forums as well. Just the fact that we post here would seem to indicate that there is a fun loving element to our persona. I agree that it would be a positive thing if we attempt to emphasize that aspect of our personality.

 

Heck, I try to emphasize the positive aspects of BDSM in the Fetish Forum. If I can pull that off then anything is possible! Anything! o.O

I think it is worth noting that, while the contributors to the Political Forum have often heard remarks like this, some of the most intolerant, contentious, uncivil behavior in the Little Kingdom of Guy Fawkes has taken place in The Lounge. Does anyone really need recent examples? To offer them would not be in the spirit of détente that jjk proposes, so I'll refrain.

I noticed it, WG, but the implication of your post was that the Politics Forum is the MOST uncivil place here. Granted, things there sometimes get personal; that's absolutely true. And it's often unattractive. But at least those disagreements are rooted in ISSUES WORTH DEBATING, WORTH CARING ABOUT, WORTHY OF PASSIONATE OPINION AND COMMITMENT. Whereas, in other parts of The Forum (not infrequently), there have been attacks that are purely (and aggressively) personal or posts about escorts (by people who have never even met them!) calling everything about them--their character/looks/age/etc.--into question.

 

At such times, I suppose it's best just to retreat to the Fetish Forum, where taking a whipping is always a happy thing.

Well, per square inch the Political Forum probably takes the cake! However, you have to admit that the discussions there are not exactly carried out in the manner of the panel on your typical Sunday Morning political program! There is a difference between a pssionate difference of opinion and name calling and intolerance. Though what I see as rancor someone else might interpret as passion.

 

But enough said or this thread might be moved to the dreaded Political Forum and the only time that I can be seen posting there was when a thread took such a turn and as such was moved. Heaven knows I would not want that!
