Well, per square inch the Political Forum probably takes the cake! However, you have to admit that the discussions there are not exactly carried out in the manner of the panel on your typical Sunday Morning political program! There is a difference between a pssionate difference of opinion and name calling and intolerance. Though what I see as rancor someone else might interpret as passion.

 

But enough said or this thread might be moved to the dreaded Political Forum and the only time that I can be seen posting there was when a thread took such a turn and as such was moved. Heaven knows I would not want that

 

I regret having to mention the Political Forum vs. the Lounge and Deli again. Whipped Guy, yes on a day-to-day basis the lounge and deli are more calm.

Anyone who has been here a while can mention several threads far worse than anything in the Political Forum --- both lately and going back a number of years.

Anyone who has been here a while can mention several threads far worse than anything in the Political Forum --- both lately and going back a number of years.

I can agree with that, but in the scheme of things the things the furor that has been unleashed in the Lounge is totally regarding nonsense and of no real consequence or importance in the bigger picture. Still, it saddens me that grown individuals can react so badly at times.

 

What further saddens me is that when issues of real importance are discussed some of those (not all) participating on both sides of the equation fail to see how mean spirited and intolerant they actually sound. It's called having respect for someone else's sincere opinions. Unfortunately when people get passionate about a subject that seems to be totally forgotten. Two wrongs don't make a right...

 

As a postscript, my initial comments regarding the Political Forum were in the second paragraph in my posting. In the first paragraph I mentioned how I often try to introduce some (possibly feeble attempts at) humor in my postings. Indeed my comments about the Political Forum were prefaced with the acronym "LOL". However, things were taken much more seriously.

 

That's always a problem here. Indeed in a posting from a few days ago I stated that as a joke I had mentioned to an escort that since he played a BDSM sub he should have paid me. One escort chimed in implying that I was disrespectful. I guess he did not take the fact that I used the work JOKE seriously.

 

People need to lighten up around here! I rarely get involved in serious discussions as I come here to escape the quandaries and vicissitudes of life, not add to them...

I am certainly at fault for taking politics too seriously, and attacking someone whom I like as a person but disagree with on politics.

 

We do disagree about the fierce arguments in the Lounge. The issue may not be important in the big picture, but the attacks can be very personal and hurtful.

 

Humor is difficult in a message forum on the Internet, here or elsewhere.

 

As to escaping the quandaries and vicissitudes of life, it is not always possible. Recently, a frequent posters attacked a member of the Reagan family for not coming out. I have no idea if the Reagan family member is gay or not. What I do know is members of this site are, or have recently been, in the closet.

It is just my own opinion, but to me it was clear Mr. frequent poster is not paying attention here, or does not care.

 

Finally, I look forward to a day of peace tomorrow.

Those of us of the Catholic / Episcopalian branch of Christianity celebrate this Sunday as "Palm Sunday", but it goes from the Processional of Palms to the reading of the Passion.

It is the beginning of Holy Week.

 

Let's kinda remember that ... for those of us who are into that kind of thing.

I learned the rule of thumb was never to discuss Religion and politics with people. It's usually a recipe for contention and disaster... But I say, "who doesnt LOVE a good Disaster " ?

Sunday good thoughts: Just got back from walking my dogs. I'm a little sweaty, so I'm thinking of taking an outdoor shower with my babies - but not yet, I kinda like me sticky and salty. Supposed to get to 72 later today here in LA. I'm gonna cook some Migas and plant a few seeds. I get to see a certain SexySeatMate later today...it has been two weeks and I'm craving blond. Maybe more sticky and salty if I'm lucky. Plan to grill later today. Looking for a recipe.
