unlocking private gallery

I have a profile on Rentmen with some public pictures and a locked private gallery that contains my X pics. I get a lot of requests from guys to unlock my private gallery, the majority of which come without any introduction or other communication. When I get a request, I look and see where the guy is from. If he's also in NYC as I am, I unlock my gallery. If he is in another city or country, I typically respond to the request with a message - I thank them for checking me out and requesting to see my private gallery, acknowledge we are in different cities, and ask if they have travel plans to NYC or what interests them about me. I figure guys who are in NYC are likely to be more serious about hiring so it's easier for me to see why I would unlock my private gallery to help them make the choice. But, when guys who are out of town ask me to unlock my private gallery, especially without some sort of other communication, I figure they are just looking for pictures so they can jerk off. I have a strong internet presence between my website, social media and the studio porn I have done - it's easy enough to find plenty of X-rated material without having to see my private gallery on Rentmen, and I have links to all my other work on my Rentmen profile. I'm hoping that by communicating with these guys, I can weed out the folks who are just there to look and don't have a serious interest in hiring me, and develop rapport with someone who will be visiting NYC.

 

I was hoping that this approach would serve to help me develop relationships with folks and sort out who's serious and who isn't. I'm finding that most of the guys from out of town don't respond to my communication and the ones who do are the ones who have travel plans. I have assumed that I'm correct that most of these out-of-town guys are just looking for eye candy, but I have a few concerns. Am I turning off or alienating people who might be interested in hiring me because I communicate with them and don't just unlock? Am I being a dick about my private gallery when it's easy enough to find my stuff anyway, so why bother being selective about unlocking on Rentmen? Do clients like direct communication right off like this? Is there a different way to look at this? I would appreciate any input!

You are absolutely not being a dick. Your rentmen page is to advertise yourself, it's up to you to decide whether people in Spokane or Sydney are really interested or just want to jerk off. I have never asked out of the blue for someone to unlock their private pics but I have engaged escorts in the US in conversations. I'm usually at pains to say that I am not in the US but that I plan to visit there at some unspecified time in the future. That has elicited some pics, some e-mails and some silence. It's entirely fair for you to ask when they plan to come to NYC before you bare all to them, as it were! My next door neighbour looks nothing like you, just sayin'.

I don't think you're being a dick and I don't think your sending of a friendly "Hi - I hope we have the opportunity to meet in NYC" is alienating. In my mind the main benefit of having a locked gallery is to open up a dialogue with someone who is shy or on the fence. If they are serious about hiring but hesitant to make that first contact then your friendly (flirty, even) note may make a big difference in meeting someone you otherwise wouldn't.

Shrug it off. You probably ARE pissing off a contingent, but it's the contingent that will never hire you anyway, not the contingent that interests you (or you them).

 

There are large numbers of men who only collect photos for jerk off material. (Have you seen the gallery section here? ) You are under no obligation to provide them material.

 

It sounds to me like you're handling this pretty much exactly right. Don't doubt yourself.

I have never asked to see unlocked pictures for the purposes of getting off, I can easily do that with free porn on one of the many sites out there.

 

When logged into rentmen, I think the requests to unlock are pre-populated- I don't think I get to type anything at all.

 

In general, I wouldn't mind getting a reply back from the escort prior to unlocking his gallery, but if I am still deciding whether or not I am interested in the first place trying to force me to select a date and time first would alienate me, as do the escorts that reply call me or text me first. This applies mostly to the guys who have only headless shots or hardly any publicly viewable content.

 

In your specific case, however, you provide quite enough material in your unblocked content that having tighter controls on your blocked content is very reasonable. I do think that we might be hard wired to ask to see private photos though just because.

I would never think to ask someone to unlock private photos unless I was planning on hiring them, and I wanted to see a face pic or whatever...but D2B is correct, you provide more than enough material for viewing without unlocking private photos first.

I would say that asking for private pics to be unlocked is an invitation to a conversation, not just a transactional request. The pics are private for a reason, no-one is 'entitled' to see them. I don't see a problem with an escort asking for more information about what the requester hopes to gain when asked to see his private pics.

Like glennnn, I am a premium member. I access semi-private pics when a guy's ad piques my interest and I think I might want to hire him. Some guys will send me a message and others do not. Unlike glennnn, I don't feel guilty about viewing those pics. I don't see where I am leading an escort on by viewing pics that can be unlocked by virtue of me being a premium member. That being said, there are private pics that even a premium member cannot access without a code from the escort. I would not request access to those pics unless I intended to hire, unless his public pics do not give me an indication of what he looks like. For example, when an ad contains one headless shot of the guy's torso I think I am well within my right to request access to his private photos. If he declines, I decline to continue pursuing any further.

I decided to set my private gallery to "semi-private" and turned off he option of receiving unlock requests. The way I see it, it's a way of rewarding premium members, who are the ones most likely to be serious about hiring. I also have my website listed in my ad, so like you said, it's easy enough to find more sexual and erotic images if they just go a little further. You are doing the right thing and anyone you are turning off isn't serious anyway.

I could forgo the X pics entirely with all the other ways there are to see me naked, but I wanted to have some on there for guys who are looking to hire and may not want to run around to other sites to see the goods.

Any pics that are sexual in nature automatically go to the private gallery. I recently uploaded some pics of me and my partner that weren't necessarily sexual but they still marked them as "X" and put them in my private gallery, so I guess any images with someone else in them go there.
