Opinions about tattoos are like assholes. We all have them, some are really nice, some are pretty shitty.

Let me share my asshole with you, then.

I think tattoos are something so personal and so permanent that you should make this decision with even more care and thoughtfulness than you would choose a romantic partner. Relationships come and go, jobs come and go, everything in life is transitory, but that tribal sleeve will stay with you forever.

If I were you I would try to block everyone else's opinion about tattoos. Some find them repugnant, some find them endlessly enthralling, many don't care either way. This is something that will be on your body for as long as you are in this body, so I think you'd be better off not crowdsourcing this decision. Think what you want to commit with, find your colours, your shapes, your story, your size, your artist, then go for it. There will be TONS of people who will find you overwhelmingly hot and will want a piece of you and you will put off a few others, but you will have something on your body that you and only you chose.

I am always amazed when people go to a tattoo artist and allow the artist to choose for them. I am such a control freak that I have trouble letting anyone cut my hair, and I cut it every single week! That hair cut is only going to be on me for a week! If I were to get a tattoo, nobody would have a say on it.

I hope you will find the most amazing tattoo for you. I can't wait to see the pics!

Thanks Juan for the insight, I think this totally makes sense, one of the reason I haven't done it yet because I just haven't been able to come up with that I want, I change my mind too much and I want to be 100% certain before I get it.

In general, I do not like tattoos. Let's be more specific.

If it is a large, colorful tattoo covering anything bigger than a couple of inches, I DO NOT LIKE IT. I'm oral, I love licking and sucking smooth beautiful skin, with one of those tattoos I feel like licking a painting.

I do not like words.

I do not like realistic, figurative images.

Sometimes I like small, only black, abstract images. I do not like signs, any kind of sign that carries any meaning. I like them when they are an abstract detail that highlight the natural shapes of a body. Like a discrete line around the neck, or following the side of the legs.

Yeah I am not a fan of tattoos and I do not have any. In checking out guys superificially, tattoos are a turnoff. The more excessive the more the turn off. However, ultimately it is the person and not the body that will hold my attention. In so much as a person who is extravagant has extravagant tattoos and a person who is thoughtful has thoughtful tattoos etc, a well considered, well placed, whimsical or beautiful tattoo may be attractive, but in general, I overlook them rather than look for them.

I don't like large ones. The likelihood of getting a small one that is not cliched and will still look good in 10 years is pretty low. Not worth the risk to me.

But I like subtle designs. Big ear gauges are also a turnoff.

I don't like tattoos on escorts much, especially larger ones and those that carry personal meanings. It is fine if you like them -- it's your body, your life, and some of them are quite nice and make an important statement about you. But, at least in my case, I am likely to consider hiring you because something in your appearance and self presentation pushes one of my fantasy buttons. I don't know you as a person, and probably will only get to know your persona, not your "real" self. I am much less likely to hook you up with one of my fantasies if you have covered yourself in ink -- too many images, too many meanings, not enough blank canvas to project onto, not enough space for the fantasy to become an involving drama for the two of us. Just my opinion. Not a criticism of guys who have tattoos -- just my own reaction.

I agree with the idea of getting a tattoo for a personal reason and to use moderation. On my 35th birthday (40 years ago) I had a small scorpion tattooed on my back right shoulder. Yes, now is it rather blurry but I still love it and I have no regrets. I also agree that it is best to have tattoos placed in a way that they do not show when dressed for work thus keep them off the neck and hands.

Tattoos are a personal choice, if you want to get one do it! I personally don't find them attractive, however I have been with more than one escort who had a tattoo. I will howeverpass on an escort who has what I consider to be an excessive amount of tattooing.

I saw a guy in DC a couple of years ago. In his ad he didn't have any tattoos whatsoever on his body. When he showed up at my place, he had tattoos galore. He explained his roommate was a tattoo artist and used him to practice. That is EXACTLY what it looked like. Practice. Not sure how he'll feel about any of those as he gets older.

I think tats are kinda like silicone lube: a little is nice and fun but allot is just a huge mess.

Ughh...silicone lube, is good for ruining bed sheets, and it feels like it never comes off your skin!

Since @keithhardy mentioned that he was thinking of getting his tattoo due to the fact that he had developed his body to the point where he was satisfied with it. I did a bit of extra investigating earlier today. Therefore, in light of this thread, I took extra notice of tattoos while at the gym this morning.

Some of the women looked absolutely hideous, though a cute Asian girl who seemed to be always in my eyesight had a small flower tattoo that was just above her butt. It was constantly bring exposed as her not so tight tights kept slipping down. For some reason I could not keep my eye off of it.

As for the guys, I found it amazing that many of the tattoos chosen actually obscured the musculature that they were working so hard and diligently to sculpt. When viewed from his right side one guy had nicely developed biceps and triceps. However his upper left arm was totally obliterated with some silly looking flowery design that totally obscured his development. When viewed from the front he looked totally unsymmetrical and unbalanced. I could go on as other guys had tattoos on both of their upper arms that did them no favors and only negated their hard work.

Now when tattoos are strategically placed they can actually enhance a guy's musculature. For example a small tattoo placed on the outer deltoid muscle. Another example would be an arm band type tattoo that would enhance the area between the deltoid and biceps/tricep area. A tasteful and narrow tattoo across the upper back can enhance a guy's lats. While I am not a fan of tattoos on the pecs a small one that encircles the nipple can be enticing at times.

Personally I have never and would never get a tattoo. However, as I had mentioned above with a bit of advance planning and thought about the future they can certainly be an enhancement... and by that I mean where the design will end up sagging and also if the design is something that you are sure that you you would indeed want in several years time. For example, for a guy who served in the marines a "Semper Fi" tattoo would certainly be a great choice. However, I would not advise doing something rash such as getting a tattoo of a presidential primary candidate to show their support as has been done in some of the early primary states! Now that's something one only does when they are in a drunken stupor!! Hopefully that is!:confused:o_O:eek:

Of course some guys do get drunk to get their tattoos. However, if that is to be the case having a preplanned design would be a good idea so that both recipient and artist are on the same wavelength!

In any event, Keith seems like a smart guy. With any luck he will make the correct choice for his particular situation and needs! :)

Like an accent wall in a room: A little goes a long way, and beautifies the whole corpus. I agree with monochromatic, or minimally multicoloured tattoos.

My living room is three walls of Ralph Lauren brown textured suede paint, and one wall in midnight blue (think a navy peacoat). It's really quite nice,

especially with a white fireplace enclosure and red brick fireplace. But either alone would be too much.

The whole arm / shoulder / sleeve thang is just ... too much.

I don't care one way or the other - on other people. If something is hot, it's HOT. It has never stopped me from hiring someone.

Having said that, I never had a tattoo myself. The main reason is this - eventually you will get sick and tired of it. I have bought great shoes, ties, other clothing and no matter how much I loved them initially, you do reach the point where you get bored with them. Shoes and ties, you can throw away. But a tattoo is much harder to remove. So think about it from your very own perspective. Are you the kind of person who gets tired of things, generally? I'd stay away from getting tattoos. Just admire them on somebody else.

I have been putting up pictures in the "Gallery" section of this forum for years. Many times, there have been many different members who've commented that they considered the man attractive, but that the tattoos ruined the man's look. These kinds of comments get so frequent that I've often put a statement next to tattooed men, requesting that members not make such comments, which become tiresome when made again and again. Never, among the thousands of pictures that I've posted, has someone commented that the man would look better with a tattoo. I would therefore repeat the warning given by another member. There are plenty of clients who will pass up on a man he otherwise finds attractive, but who has a tattoo, especially a prominent one. I have never heard of someone who will only hire men with tattoos. Also, many businesses have dress codes which forbid any visible tattoos, so I would be especially careful to avoid the face, neck, and hands.

I personally don't like tattoos much, although a tattoo won't rule me out from hiring an escort. There are definitely a number of men that I didn't hire because of their tattoos. I especially dislike tattoos on the chest, face, and neck. A tattoo in the deltoid area, back, buttocks, or legs doesn't bother me as much. There are temporary tattoos available if you ever feel you want to sport that look for some reason. Tattoos tend to look even worse as the tattoos and the men wearing them get older. Please consider the fact that both you and the tattoo will age. Imagine yourself at 60 with the tattoo. My advice is to skip the tattoo, or, if you decide you need one for some reason, at least pick an inconspicuous area like the buttocks.

I remember once seeing a burly man with a tattoo on his buttocks which said "Your name." He said he used to go to bars and bet people: "I bet you $100 that I have your name tattooed on my ass."

In any case, in my opinion, and in the opinion of a large number of clients, a man can look good despite his tattoos, but never because of his tattoos.

I guess I have never hired someone because of their tattoos nor would I specifically seek someone out because they have a tattoo. You could probably characterize my hiring and tattoos as saying I would hire someone even though they had tattoos. I don't really mind them, but I don't like the overly large one that cover up a whole arm or leg or entire back or chest. One or two small ones can be kind of sexy, I guess.

My current guy has a few tattoos. He personally characterizes them as mistakes.

Your going to get a lot of unsolicited comments about your body tattoos being among them. I have had a client ask me why I would do such a think to my body (my back piece). Tattoos are art, for many people that have them they are a form of self expression and not everyone is going to like what you express. Do what feels right for you handsome

I had dinner in Greater Boston a couple of years ago, and we struck up a conversation with the waiter. The conversation got to "Trips to WDW"

He said how he'd worked for Disney before, but he couldn't go back now, as his tattoo would prevent him from being hired.

His tattoo was a 3/4 inch tall G-clef on the side of his neck in monochrome.
