I was reading the thread on Alec Andrews birthday and there was a double underline of the words "the kids" and thinking that it would be a picture of Alec with his dogs, I clicked it. I wound up at some coupon site, which did indeed have a nice coupon for $2.50 off Craizens, but I digress. Now just about every posting is showing highlighted words which in the past I might have thought was a link from the poster but now I am avoiding them. I went back to the thread I saw this on originally, and the "the kids" highlight is gone but "dog beach" is now highlighted.

Anyone else getting this?

Any advice as to how to get rid of this? I am using a Mac and viruses are not real common on here.

Almost ANYTHING on a Mac can be fixed by simply shutting down and restarting. Have u tried that? Is the problem that things are NOW highlighted in posts that normally AREN'T ie your browser has in some way been altered?? (similar happened to me on a FBook post I clicked on which went to a FBI PAGE SAYING YOUR BROWSER HAS BEEN ALTERED AND FROZEN blah blah and indeed it WAS I couldn't leave the page OR even force quit the browser it would come right back with that page. A restart fixed it. I'm on a MacBookPro

Yes tried to restart and now it seems that ever post and every page has this highlight. The words that are highlighted are interesting so the first seems to have selected verbs and now I am getting pop up advertisement with it which takes up the bottom quarter of my screen. So I guess it is my computer that has the issue. Ah well.

I have this every once in awhile. I take it to the Geek Squad and have them clean my computer. Porn sites are notorious for spreading malware, virus and spyware. I guess they get paid extra to permit such stuff. Even though I have the Kaspersky Pro programs running continuously in the background, sometimes this stuff gets by. Very frustrating, and it seems to be getting worse.

Malwarebytes is what I use along with Norton 360. So far, so good.

My HP computer I've had finally died after having it for about 8 years. I never had a virus, as I always kept my virus software up-to-date. I just happened to be looking at new computers before it died, as it was becoming more slower. I looked at Apple this time at the Apple store, and figured if I were to go that route, the minimum I'd be spending is $2,000 plus tax. I also looked at the new touch screen HPs that Costco was selling for $1,100, but on sale for $799. All my stuff is stored on PC hard drives, and it would have seemed hard to convert the files to Mac if I got them. I kept debating and asking my Mac friends, as well as my PC friends. I had to ask myself why would I spend 3 to 4 times the price on a Mac, when I could get another HP for 1/4 to 1/3 the price. My PC friend said the Macs weren't worth the significant price increase, and his Mac that he uses as well is slower than his PC. My Mac friends were saying how much better the Macs were, and that they can't get viruses. Well, a month or so ago, one of my Mac user friends said his Mac got something called a "Cryptic Ransom" virus. It froze his Mac up, and wanted money to be sent somewhere to get it unlocked. He had to take it down to the repair shop, where they charged him nearly $300 to get it fixed, along with dividing the new drive into two sectors: one to run the Mac, and a PC half to run some of his programs that run better on a PC. I ended up getting the HP.

I came to the same conclusion a year ago when I had to replace my old HP Pavilion desktop. Tempted by the Mac but finally deciding to get a great HP on sale.

Make that three of us. Was going to be ~$600 to fix a busted CD drive in the MacBook Pro vs. $270 for a perfectly adequate new HP. Whose keyboard has better touch than current MacBooks, to my taste -- critical attribute as I write constantly in my work.

I can't remember the name of it - redirect something or other. It's a pretty common virus. Malwarebytes keeps my computer pretty free of those things,
