Be careful what you offer!

I will be spending a very self-indulgent week in Vegas (is there any other kind of week in Vegas?) My first time in Vegas--ever!

Booked, well let's just say more than two escorts during my stay to entertain in my hotel room.

Trying to be hospitable, I emailed each to ask what he liked to drink figuring beer, wine, soda, bottled water (my suggestions in the emails) would cover. Wrong!

So far I have requests for:

Tequila and 7-Up (ugh)

Crown Royal

Dirty Vodka Martinis with Blue Cheese stuffed olives

Cosmopolitans (not going to happen)

Seems everyone drinks hard liquor and no two want the same kind. Is this a Vegas thing? Most of the guys I have seen previously have accepted water, nothing at all, or occasionally beer or a glass of wine. It was not my intent to offer a fully equipped open bar.

Will be staying at New York, New York. My online research reveals the absence of a convenience store either in the hotel or within easy walking distance (I will not have a car, and it will be hot outside.) Consequently, I plan to pack booze and mixers in my suitcase from home (not in the original plan) so I don't have to run all over Vegas looking for supplies.

Any tips for entertaining gentlemen in Vegas? Offer to buy drinks at the hotel bar? Spring for room service?--that could be awkward. I am assuming the hotel will have a fridge in the room. I have not met with any of these guys before, so no dinner dates. Did book 2 hours sessions with guys who appear to be class acts if reviews and recommendations hold true. Any tips for a Vegas newbie?

lol KNOW you're trying to be a gracious host but if you've booked multiple hours w each, drinks down in one of the bars is SO much easier AND can add to the excitement and fantasy since the hot guy you're out in public with is ALSO coming up to your room too :-)

jeez, DON'T pack booze in your bags!.....just meet them in the lobby (you have to anyway at the NYNY) and go over to a bar in the casino and spend a few minutes with them over a drink....

don't overthink this!.....room service is a waste of money and so uncertain, timing-wise....you don't need to utterly impress these dudes.....just be a nice guy, talk slowly, ask them questions that aren't too prying, smile, you know the deal.....

have been to LV many times....all very busy and crowded.....you will be anonymous (I love that part).....if able to walk a ways, anything you need is a short walk up or down the Strip.....drug stores, etc.....grab some waters at a nearby c-store for the room.....cheap taxis line up outside the casinos for any major grocery store run you may want to make....no, many upscale rooms in LV do NOT have refrigerators for your use....and you'll be charged if you so much as rearrange the goodies for sale in the refg. that IS in the room!......but you can request a refg. and I think I'd do that for your own use, at least.....

lots of hints for LV and I'm sure you'll hear more here soon!

I would not attempt to make my room a full service bar. There are numerous places within the hotel where you could meet for drinks, either before or after your "play time". Meeting before gives you the opportunity to get past any initial nervousness and a drink after the sessions is a nice way to express thanks and shows that you enjoyed your time together.

You asked, they answered. While I like to be hospitable, I prefer to set my own standards of hospitality. I wouldn't have asked, but I would make sure to have something alcoholic and something non-alcoholic.

Personally, I offer bottled water to my guests. However, if you want to get hard liquor, there are Walgreens and CVS conveniently located along the strip where you can purchase alcohol. I like the huge Walgreens at Planet Hollywood. You do pay for the convenience.

Thanks,

I heard prices were good there. Was trying to avoid walking, cabbing, or busing up and down the strip in hot weather not knowing the city. Maybe it is really easy. Don't know.

What I should have done! I think the guy with the dirty martinis is pulling my leg, but not sure.

Good point. I'm not complaining about the cost, just the inconvenient logistics of schlepping bottles of booze around. What I asked was,"What do you drink--beer, wine, soda, water?" Was blindsided by the responses.

Thanks for the useful info. I once had a room with a mini-bar that charged you electronically if you jostled the contents. If no fridge, I think I can make do with an ice bucket. Will need to purchase water from a convenience store--good to know they are close by. My memories of desert tap water is that it tastes horrible (NY water great, Seattle water good, LA water disgusting.)

You asked what they like to drink and they told you what they like to drink. Nothing tacky about that. Now, it is up to you to decide whether you are going to buy liquor and play bartender or buy the drinks at the hotel bar. Hint: Hotel bar is more convenient, will be less costly than buying the raw materials, and you won't have to schlep bottles around.

Regarding the dirty martini, aside from the blue cheese olives, a vodka dirty martini with three picks of pimento- or garlic-stuffed olives is my favorite cocktail.

You asked and gave 4 choices. The appropriate response from them is to request one of your options or to decline. Requesting other drinks would tell me to look elsewhere. Trouble is headed to your hotel room.

The request on the dirty martinis was vodka, no vermouth which saves having to buy yet another bottle. I am coming around to the drinks at the bar idea. I drink--just very little and not very often. Don't need a lot of left over booze lying around.

These guys are upscale and VERY well reviewed, so I am not too worried about trouble. I think the martini guy was having me on, but don't know him well enough to know for sure (we spoke on the phone for an hour, and he is pretty cool.)

I find this odd (I know, I am a foreigner) but I would have thought that if you are meeting an escort in a bar or restaurant to start with, then drinks would sort themselves out. If you are going straight to action stations then having water on hand should be enough.

I was merely trying to be considerate and welcoming. Figured I would supply beer, wine, or soda--certainly water. We hadn't discussed meeting in the bar, but that is looking like a good idea.

Since we're talking a adult drinks, here's one for you, the Rock Hard Woody:

Gar Woods Grill & Pier (5000 N Lake Blvd; Carnelian Bay)

Since it's easily the most alcoholic drink in the LT, you can only order two of Gar Woods' Rock Hard Woody, likely because it features 151, light rum, peach schnapps, juices, sweet and sour, and TWO MORE 151 SHOTS FLOATED ON TOP.

Not to belabor the point, but why do you think the dirty martini guy was having one over on you?

I wasn't suggesting that you shouldn't do that, just that your partner should not expect that sort of thing. Having drinks ready would be such a nice touch. I've never done that, and it hasn't affected the session.

My advice is next time just provide beer, wine, soda, and water and order other beverages at the bar.

I recently brought a bottle of wine and two favorite wine glasses to a date at a hotel, but we never quite got to the wine. The same escort typically puts out a spread when we play at his place.

This guy www.rentboy.com/Listing.aspx?lid=345497 brought the wine, opener, and wine glasses to a hotel date. However, he didn't bring the entire wine cellar.

If I am at my house, I generally offer whatever I would offer a friend and have at my house. If I am at a hotel, I buy a very nice bottle of wine and offer that or water. People's tastes vary so much that you will just run into trouble to try to make an offer and then a person when he asks for what he really wants to make himself at home (which he probably figures what you were trying to do). You were both trying to do the good thing.

I can see why you would arrange wine, glasses, dates and grapes with such a man. He would sweep me off my feet! Whether he used the wine etc or not is a separate question!!

We chatted for about an hour on the phone the night before, and he is clever. Then, the way his email was worded sounded a bit as if he was being facetious. There was too much extravagant detail. Says he is in the habit of supplying a list of acceptable drinks and snacks to his clients. He asked not for potato chips--but, creamy dill kettle potato chips. I think he is being playful and jibing me for asking at all. And, olives stuffed with blue cheese?--really.
