I assume this is in one's lifetime as no defined time is mentioned. Of the 23 I have been in all of the top 12 and 18 altogether. Now if i can swing that Palm Springs meeting I can cross that one off my list.

I've been to every one but P'town.

Been to 19 of these locations (although some have been for work). For me the biggest "never been" is Las Vegas. Am I a weirdo or are there others who have never been tempted by this city? Friends tell me, don't knock it if you haven't tried it, but I'm not into gambling and I'd rather see a show in NYC and the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

I have been to all of them, either on business, pleasure or a combination. Las Vegas is my least favorite, as I am not into gambling, but I enjoy the shows, and there are some nice hotels where you don't have to walk through the smoked filled casino's to get to your room. For a gay vacation, nothing beats Ft Lauderdale or Palm Springs in my opinion, but although not on the list, the Hawaiian Islands are still my favorite place to vacation... I have stayed on all of the islands and like each one for different reasons.

sorta looks like a top 23 travel destinations for ANY traveler.....

been to them all except Provincetown....I'm a map/geography nerd and, since childhood, I've always wanted to go all the way out to that very fishook end spot at the tippy end of Cape Cod

I have visited 13 of these places and live in a 14th (L.A.).

As I have lived nearly all of my life in the LA. area I have visited Las Vegas numerous times and can honestly say I could happily live the rest of my life without EVER going again. As a kid I passed though Vegas, with my parents, on the way to visit family in Utah and Wyoming -- I hated it then. As an adult I went to Vegas several times to visit an escort (Aaron Mark) -- loved the escort but still hated the place.

I go to Palm Springs with some frequency because I have good friends who live and visit there. But for them I would never visit the place. I have always thought of Palm Springs as Las Vegas without the major gambling casinos, and the shows.

Unfortunately both Las Vegas and Palm Springs share one thing that I totally hate -- they are both located in the desert. I loathe heat and dislike desert colors.

I dont like gambling either. So the reason I go to Las Vegas is:

1. The CES show (recommend a presspass/credentials) as its open for the press a day early and not crowded that day

and more important

2. Taking a river rafting trip starting from the bottom, downstream side of the Hoover Dam, going down river by from there.

I agree with Azdr. The list for the US population as a whole would be similar, with the exception of FL and P-town.

I've always enjoyed Vegas, mostly for the glamour and the shows. I find gambling pretty entertaining. I stick to the nickel and quarter machines and walk away after I've lost a few dollars.

As I understand it, the survey is from 2010. We were deep in a recession, and the article mentions a reduction of travel from the LBGT community. Smaller and more remote cities suffered the most, while larger cities like LA and NY faired better, hence, I suspect that Key West suffered, since it is both remote and smaller.

From the "World traveler"...I've been to all except Philly. ;)

I have lived in three of these places and visited the other twenty, some of them frequently. But most of them I have visited not because I am gay, but because I like to travel (of course, some people might claim that is a defining characteristic of being gay). I met my spouse in P-town, but I have engaged in sexual activity in only eight of the other places I visited.

Although it is not a city or town, I am surprised that Fire Island is not on the list, since it is certainly a popular vacation spot for gays.
