This may get moved to religion section. I've been tuning in to the Sonlife Broadcasting Network (Jimmy Swaggert Ministries) and it is remarkable that the torch is being passed to the grandchildren of the old guard-- they are quite hot-- Gabe Swaggert, Joseph Larson, Bobby Schuler et al. While JSM is still preaching quite an anti-gay diatribe the music is good. I've noticed that it's somewhat the same with the Hagees as well. Check it out: http://crossfireyouthministry.com/.

agreed. The word 'hot' has officially been watered down to the point of meaning 'not vomit inducing'. We need a new word.

I was shocked to see this thread on DADDYS! As many of yall know I spent ten years in NEW ORLEANS which is just an hour north of SWAGGARTVILLE.....aka....Baton Rouge. I actually know Gabriel very well and Joseph and I can tell this forum that PERSONALLY they are the sweetest, nicest REAL people you will ever meet. Gabriels' Dad.... Donnie...not so much! He is the only real gay basher in the ministry but his history of divorce and adultery gives his moralistic crusade no foundation at all. Jimmy (the grandfather) is a sweet, nice, real person who is SO RICH FROM SELLING 20 MILLION ALBUMS that he can say and do as he pleases. His preaching actually pisses off the religious right and most all fundamentalists because he does not give a shit what anyone thinks of him. I like him a lot. Jimmy was so wounded by his prostitution/pornography scandals in 1988 and 1991 that he can actually empathize withand feel the pain and hurt of ,'Sinners,' because he is one himself. His message is the mercy and grace and love of Christ. At 80 years old he is going strong!

This is great feedback Mikey-- I don't know any of the Swaggerts-- but I'm glad your personal experience backs up my initial feelings. You're right-- Jimmy can still preach and his preaching is tempered by his own experience. Donnie appears to be another story. I'm still intrigued by Gabe and Joseph...
