the boys have long since left boystown. andersonville i hear is the new gay spot.

You are correct jimboivyo. Those of us over 45 marched up to the Andersonville area.

I lived in Edgewater when I was in Chicago and spent most of my time in Andersonville. They have great restaurants and a great neighborhood bar called Marty's.

Tons of shopping too.

There are two "gay" bars in Andersonville - Marty's and @Mosphere. Hamburger Mary's is also there which attracts all ages and persuasions. In Boys Town, the bars are almost too numerous to count. Andersonville is further north than boys Town, and boys Town is north of the Gold Coast area where the party seems like it will take place.

If any of you need a fun place to stay, I rent out three rooms in my flat in lakeview. I'm a block off of halsted, about a five minute walk to steamworks :-)

Rooms are $65 for single beds and $85 for the double bed. The website that lists them is airbnb.com (also a great resource in general for inexpensive places to stay )

That's amazing that Chris and his group have managed to get that much interest so early. I know of 2 escorts and 1 client who will probably attend (If I have to drag them, I will!)

I do A LOT of flying on Southwest, and I'll be flying to Chicago for a week in mid-Sept. For those of you planning on attending the July Chicago Get-Together, I note that from the second week in June to the last week in August, SWA has higher fares to Chicago (than in Sept.) by 20-25%. So, if you haven't gotten your tickets yet, watch for those sales!

Any update on where attendees are staying or particular area of the city? There have been a number of mentions, but it is important to me to decide what would be the best overall choice for closeness to fellow attendees and probable event locations. Have to decide soon. Rates are rapidly climbing.

Thanks.

Lucked out. Found a great rate for the Allegro which is right downtown so it will be easy to get to any functions.

Can hardly wait

  • 2 weeks later...

Hey Guys,

The Chicago Forum Event is around 7 weeks away.

We want to get an accurate head count of clients and escorts who will be attending the event, so we can have accurate numbers to plan the events.

If you’re attending an event for the first time—here’s some info you might find helpful.

Some people hire during events or bring someone with them. Some attending escorts are available for hire. Many people look at this as purely a social event and don’t plan to hire (or be hired) at all. If you do see that someone you’d like to meet up with is attending—plan ahead rather than waiting until the actual event. They may be attending with someone already, or they may have limited time to meet which doesn’t work with your schedule.

FRIDAY

Nothing formal is planned for this day or evening (yet). We’ll probably meet up one or more of the bars in Boystown, and there are plenty of food options in the area.

GETTING THERE:

Taxi to North Halstead Street.

RED LINE to Halstead Street (Belmont Stop)

SATURDAY DAY - SEADOG ARCHITECTURE CRUISE

12:15 PM, SATURDAY AFTERNOON FROM NAVY PIER

cost: $41.75 — 75-minute architecture river & lake architectural tour of downtown Chicago.

http://www.seadogcruises.com/chicago/cruises/architecture-tour

http://www.groupon.com

THERE IS OFTEN A TIME-SENSITIVE GROUPON RELATED TO THIS EVENT (50% OFF)

The current Groupon for this expired today. I’ll alert everyone if another special deal comes around before we meet in Chicago.

This should give everyone time to have a nice breakfast or sleep in from the night before. Please plan to arrive at the Navy Pier about 30 minutes BEFORE departure, or 11:45 AM.

Seadog Chicago's River and Lake Architectural Tour is the only tour to take you from the lakefront, through the locks and along the Chicago River all the way to the famous Willis Tower! Departing from Navy Pier, this 75-minute architecture cruise is the best way to get up-close to all of Chicago’s most famous buildings and unique architecture. It combines amazing views, entertaining narration and an exciting ride along the lakefront. Welcome aboard – Woof!*

• A passage through the historic Chicago Locks and up the Chicago River

• Up-close views of all the famous bridges of the Chicago River

• An entertaining docent who’ll share amusing stories, facts and tidbits on Chicago’s interesting history

• Fascinating stories about some of Chicago’s most famous buildings including the Tribune Building, Willis Tower, Lyric Opera and the Merchandise Mart

• An exciting speedboat ride along the lakefront featuring views of Chicago including Buckingham Fountain, Grant Park, beautiful Chicago Harbor, Chicago’s Museum Campus and much, much more!

GETTING THERE:

600 E Grand Ave., Navy Pier, Lake Michigan

4 minute taxi ride from Knickerbocker Hotel

Parking $25, lot parking available (if driving is an issue)

Refreshments: snacks must be bought at pier, no alcohol

reservations required at least 24 in advance

SATURDAY EVENING - JACK’S ON HALSTEAD, THEN STRIPPERS!

6:30 PM MEET, 7:00 PM SIT DOWN

http://www.jacksonhalstedlakeview.com/

3201 N Halsted St

THEN… Go-Go Boys at Lucky Horseshoe! Right across the street from Jack’s.

http://luckyhorseshoelounge.com/

3169 N Halsted St

Other places/things to do post-dinner:

Steamworks is a 2 minute walk

Sidetracks 4 minutes

Roscoe’s 5 minutes

Cocktail 5 minutes

Hydrate 12 minutes

We’ll be updating plans online as we tweak them.

AGAIN, PLEASE LET US KNOW AN ACCURATE HEAD COUNT ASAP SO WE CAN PLAN THE RESTAURANT EVENT AND MAKE IT A SUCCESS. THANKS!

Clarification: You are responsible for buying your ticket to the architecture tour. Please buy the one for the 12:15 departure on Saturday, July 26. It is for the SEADOG ARCHITECTURAL BOAT TOUR.

There is no rush to buy the tickets now, since we're so far out from the actual tour date, but tickets must be purchased at least 24 hours in advance. ALSO THEY RUN GROUPONS FOR THIS TOUR FOR 50% OFF, if you want to wait. I'll keep checking in the next couple of weeks to see if another special is run.

My congratulations to Chris and Dane for setting up a great program with a unique mixture of social events and selecting areas that are rich in "other activities". I checked the websites for the dinner and the cruise and both look wonderful. I'll be sending my responses to Chris and Dane shortly. The only difficulty is which "arm candy". The selection is like being in a Godiva store trying to choose just one.

Thanks guys
