Read an article about a woman who has had Patti Page's version of How Much Is That Doggie in the Window

stuck in her head for 3 years. It is a form of tinnitus called Musical Hallucination.

Lately I have had the song Next to Me stuck in my head Woo Who

Which was the last song you had stuck in your head?

For me, it's usually a few bars of music from a symphony or opera that are maddeningly familiar, but I can't quite identify them, and until I do, they play over and over in my head.

The last song, in fact the current song stuck in there like cement, is "I Can't Let Go" from a SMASH episode to be aired on February 26. Jennifer Hudson kills it and if a karaoke version comes out before PS, I'll do that.

I've had so many ear worms it isn't funny. I can't even mention the name of the piece because it gets into my head and won't leave, but it was the piece of music by Maurice Ravel featured in the movie 10. Arrrrrrrrrgh!

The worst I guess was when I went a couple of months and had the entire Tristan und Isolde stuck in there, from beginning to end. You try having a 5 hour opera in your head playing in a loop, see if that won't make you nuts.

Most of the popular songs that stick in individuals minds are ones with a simple repeated line. The two that always drove me crazy were real oldies called "Mule Train" and "How Much Is That Doggie in the Window". Anybody else around here old enough to remember those two?????

My folks had those on 78rpm records. We'd sometimes haul them out for a chuckle. Those two never stuck like an earwig but a Doris Day recording from "Calamity Jane" did:

Oy. Now it's back. Gee. Thanks. :p

PK... Thanks for bringing this topic up, I recently saw the movie Les Miserables and so many songs are repeating in my head. It's as though I know every lyric to "Master in the House" and I don't even like that song. :)

Usually when this happens (like now, thanks to you) it's one of two old pop/dance tracks:

No Mercy - Where Do You Go?

Haddaway - What is Love? (Baby Don't Hurt Me) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhrBDcQq2DM

Fortunately these these songs delve into two of the most important questions of our time, as Patti Page had done for a prior generation.
