BBC: Wrestling dropped from the Olympics

Only one slot is open for a "new" sport to be added in 2020. Among them, besides now wrestling and baseball/softball, are golf and wu-su.

 

Wu-su is the Chinese version of Kung-fu. Now given the well known corruption of the IOOC and China's dishonest business practices, does anyone not see that the selection process might be rigged?

They're morons. The Olympics is just a marketing ploy. They realize the money is in Asia so they are marketing and adding/dropping so-called "sports" to satisy they money they can get from there.

 

How you drop one of the most ancient of all sports and an original sport in favor of someone made up in the last few years (it's like Kwanzaa being given equal treatment with Ramadan, Christmas, and Yom Kippur) is completely beyond my comprehension.

 

They dropped baseball and softball because the Americans were doing too well at it.

As a big wrestling fan, I am sorry to see it eliminated from the Olympics. Probably better suited to the Winter Olympics as it is done indoors and it would give warm weather nations another way to participate.

I can't tell whether it's the Olympics as such, or the HORRIFIC coverage we get here in the states. I watched the diving for the eye candy, but that was about it. NBC doesn't seem to understand that we actually want to watch the sporting event, and not just a bunch of second rate Americans, simply because they're Americans, who wind up finishing 12th.
