I am curious, I know the internet we can hide our Identity, I have come here for years and always wondered who these men that hire escorts are and what do they do for work. I have been working in the fashion wholesale industry for over 30 years, since I got out of college. I have had a wonderful career and only worked for three companies. If you don’t mind telling what industry and career did or do you have?

Land development and construction management. The latter is a tough field sometimes, especially in the summer when you are trying to concentrate on the construction and the crews have their shirts off!!

I was a librarian & information manager for a multi-national corporation for 30 years - doing reference, information retrieval, abstracting & indexing, user training, marketing of libray services, project management and library management, during the course of my career. My position was eliminated 2 years ago and thus far I have been unable to find another job in the field.

(By the way - great idea for a thread!)

Great question. I spent well over thirty years teaching high school in the same public school district, in the same school. I loved every (well nearly) minute of it and consider myself extremely fortunate to know that if I had my life to live over I would do the exact thing in the exact same place.

Business executive with the same company for over 40 years. When I retired at 65, the company asked me to stay on part-time to help with different projects. Invested in real estate along the way that did well (one of those who never spent lavishly but was a saver).

Director of a large city housing program. Was drafted & served in the military overseas from 1967-69. So I had more time to think about what I wanted to do than most people.

Attending physician for 28 years, 26 of those also teaching at the associated medical scools. A very serious infection kept me out of work the first half of 2010, and I never got back to full time. Transferred to an information system to document it at a 40% pay cut. Was going to be laid off in October, so I retired last June. I'm finally getting to the "bored" stage and its time to do things!

Residential real estate sales and commercial real estate development. A few years ago as the market showed signs that it might crash, I sold everything and retired. Now I can sleep at night without worry of a stroke or heart attack.

I began my professional career as an engineer for Uncle Sam, moved on to work for a company in a management position, then launched out on my own with a consulting gig, which I have been doing for 15 years. Next year, I plan to scale back my workload, and enter an early/semi-retirement.

I've been a computer programmer/system analyst for a large utility company now for 28 years. After I found out that my music degree wasn't worth much I went back and got a degree in computer sciences. I'm in an unusual group at my office, where we all seem to stay once we get there. I've worked with most of the people in my group at least 20-25 years. Which is why it is going to be a real shock to them when I come out to them soon.

Some of you know that I am a corporate pilot for ** years and still going. :) However, now I am semi-retired and some of my friends say it has always been so. :)

Cash 4 Trash-- I wished we lived closer together. I have always loved to play bridge and discontinued mostly during my "middle" years of my career but have recently resumed but need a "good" partner. :)

Best regards,

I am a physician and was the director of a residency program at two different hospitals over the years. Eventually opened a walk in medical office where i also have a private practice. A month ago I sold the practice to a major medical group and am now back employed by a hospital. Even though i spend the vast majority of my waking time working, I believe your job should be what you do and not define who you are.

I have been a bridge player for years but apart from reading the columns and occasionally playing on line, I have not participated in a "live" game in years.
