If Rentmen chooses to be aggressive, they have a great opportunity to reach out to all those advertising on Rentboy and offer them a introductory rate if they advertise for a specific length of time. That would help build up some critical mass if enough Rentboy guys gave it a try. Rentmen would have to also probably do some increased advertising to increase their exposure to clients that may not know about them. The challenge is to know the list of Rentboy's advertisers (phone numbers) and reach out to them that way but if they had the foresight to create a database of that contact info, they have a chance to take a big leap forward.

seems a real opportunity to get the word out about http://www.rentmen.com. We need them to step up. Advertisers need to pay for ads there and clients need to use it and book from it. I am getting ready to go out on my final tour of the year to New Orleans and Houston and I am hoping that people know about rentmen. Advance bookings are really down without rentboy. I, too, wish http://www.rentmen.com would become more aggressive in its operation. As far as escort sites go {Stateswide}, this is the one that I prefer. I like its overall format.

What I do not like is the paucity of escorts who are here from the San Francisco Bay Area. Just the other evening I'd planned to write a separate thread in this regard.

Meanwhile, Rentmen.com has added three more escorts in Atlanta and is up to 33. I wished the increased business had come at Men4rentnow's expense, but if they can get as many guys as Rentboy and Men4rentnow, I think they'll have the foothold they need to take over.

A lot of queens are creatures of comfort. They like and stick to what is familiar. (How else do you explain this site still being around?) I'm not one of those queens, and when Rentboy changed their UI a few years ago, I ran like the dickens away from all those ads and ugly clutter. The owners did not improve the user experience, IMO.

 

Rentmen has a better look, and maybe they bundled a great opportunity. Their video feature is nice and fun, except they charge too much for membership. I think they were too greedy from the launch. And now that I've lived with it for a few years, their site maintains a certain trashy look to it. Not exactly sure why that is. It could be all the muddy gray tones. It could also be that so many who advertise there look really seedy and used.

 

I'm not suggesting these sites need Martha Stewart, but a lot of gay men have no clue how to create a sexy, inviting design.

Long before this tragic event shelved rentboy, I have always bemoaned its unreliability. On several occasions I have been in a horny, hiring mood and then not be able to access the site, thus, turning elsewhere to check out available options. M4RN is a pitiful site with many failings, but dang, those boys seem to keep that thing up and running without fail.

Thanks for chiming in here and giving us the inside perspective. As you can tell a number of us want Rentmen to succeed and really appreciate its format. It sounds like management is responsive as well, which is a big plus especially compared to one of the other sites. As an advertiser, I'm pleased to report that my business has been steadily increasing from Rentmen, so over the long-term it looks good.

 

Keep up the good hard work and keep us all briefed here. You will not find a more discerning focus group than the gentlemen (and occasional lady) here!
