thoughts and prayers to everyone up there in nyc and nj!!!!!! I lived through Katrina in new orleans so I KNOW what yall are going through up there! I see rentboy is still down and boy is it affecting business even down here in warm and sunny florida. I hope yall get it back UP in a hurry...pun intended. Mikey @ http://www.rentmen.com/mikeyusatop

Not everyone in NYC. There's an interesting article today about the two NYC's. One is completely paralyzed and the other -- which was hardly affected -- is going on normally. It's really remarkable how some areas were completely spared.

I missed being out of power by 10 blocks ... I feel very lucky but feel very sad about those who were so badly affected.

I am told I'll be without power until Saturday or Sunday. I expect the rentboy office (three long blocks down from me on the same street) will get power around the same time. I can't speak to whether they will be on site ready to boot back up over the weekend, nor how long that process takes. My guess is the site may be down until sometime Monday. Here's hoping I'm wrong.

To rguer: OK to search gayromeo for Manhattan escorts. First go to the home page. from there in the upper right corner hit "escorts" button. then north america > USA > New York State > New York - Manhattan > then click far right lighted "92"

I did this while signed in, not sure what you get if you are not signed in.

It's frustrating. A day off. A little extra cash and Rentboy is down. Nothing interesting on m4rn or rentmen or a4a or backpages. Any other sites for NY?

Same here. I bet thats true for a lot of people This time period could've been a bonanza for the rentboys. I'm surprised Backpage didn't fill up with Rentboy ads while it was down, it's free isnt it?

Only showed 23 in the entire United States for me. There must be some secret to searching.

The "secret" for searching on Gayromeo is that there is a check-box that says "online now". Unfortunately, the default state for this option is "checked". Just uncheck this option.

Two things:

One: I truly do not understand or follow what in the fuck half of you are talking about half of the time. So that makes about 25% of the conversations on here pretty much incomprehensible to me, minus my Betazed sense that folks are often a tad upset with each other:

"Captain, I sense resentment. Deep resentment. And annoyance."

"What do they resent? What is annoying them? Explain!"

"Resentment. And annoyance."

"We really know so little about them."

"Annoyance. And resentment. And anger. Deep anger. And annoyance."

"Shut the fuck up."

Two: I hope Rentmen.com picks up some additional business from this, though it's really Men4rentnow.com I like to see suffer from Rentmen.com's gain.

LOL. I really couldn't believe it when I read the first post. File it under "get a life" I suppose.

Your response was, to me, callous! Many folks are hurt "big time" in a variety of ways from that horrendous hurricane and wind storm of a few days back.

We who live elsewhere are blessed and fortunate that our lives {from a multitude of ways} have not been hampered in anyway by a disaster of such magnitude.

You, too, are perhaps in this category. You wrote: "get a life." I'd like for you to "get a heart." Become much more empathetic towards others!

The rentboy site now displays something, but only a "we're not working" notice.

I think they changed their domain name server to a working host, which is probably the best they can do under the circumstances.

More than you probably want to know about data center outages:

Interesting that Peer1 managed to put together a bucket brigade to carry diesel fuel up 18 floors.

When going to rentboy.com now, the current display is as follows:

Attention Customers

Due to the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy our servers are without and power and network connectivity. Flooding in the basement of our datacenter has caused this outage to be greater than anything that was ever anticipated. At the moment power was lost, our generators engaged and provided backup power for an additional few hours. Due to the extensive flooding and salt water damage the backup generators quickly failed following the power failure from the grid. The power systems have suffered saltwater damage in addition to the flooding.

Additionally because our offices are located in a blackout zone we are currently without phone service to answer your calls. We really appreciate your patience as we work to restore these services as quickly as we can. Current estimates predict that we will have service restored to our offices on Monday November 5th, 2012. Estimates for the online services are not currently known however we will update this page when more information becomes available.

We are working diligently with the datacenter and our engineers to get all of your services restored as quickly as we can. Thank you for your patience as we work through this disaster.

The superstorm sandy has been a terrible catastrophe for all of us in the Northeast. Our hearts go out to all those that have endured loss of loved ones and their homes.

In Atlanta, I think so many of the escorts are disengaged from their job they probably aren't even aware the site is down and probably haven't even noticed the drop-off in calls and contacts.

Well I know that in Chicago and LA they're hurting, and they're fully aware of it. Although a lot of my escort friends are working in in Palm Springs this weekend for Pride, so they're already booked through.

Wayout -- thanks for sharing this update.

I do see a few guys (still only a handful, unfortunately) moving ads over to RENTMEN, for those clients who are able to hire during this time.

I'm planning to put up an ad on Rentmen this Sunday, once power is fully restored and most of the trains are back up.

Decatur Guy - warm support as always. Thanks!

Decatur Guy,

RE: Two: I hope Rentmen.com picks up some additional business from this, though it's really Men4rentnow.com I like to see suffer from Rentmen.com's gain.

You have always been a supporter of RentMen.com. I seldom post but I read this and appreciate the support. We do not wish any business harm in this niche of course. We have however seen an increase in new signup's and visitors so I encourage everyone to visit RentMen and check out the new profiles and videos. Our office, servers and staff were not effected - some personal property damage - so we count ourselves so much luckier than others and wish everyone a speedy recovery from Sandy's rath.

I just got power back (4:30 am Saturday). I assume the rentboy office, where the servers are apparently kept, either just got it back, or did around 6:00 pm Friday, along with most the rest of lower Manhattan (save me). How long it takes them to get into the office and crank up the gerbils, who knows?

Kevin, glad to hear you got your own power back - with this new cold outside and the threat of another northeaster forming off the coast, and generators and heaters NOT working, people are getting pretty cold. I slept under 5 blankets and wrapped in a fleece track suit and still was very cold all night! I have friends with young children and a few with newborns, and wonder how they survive all this.

The old camping tip, spooning with someone else and exchanging body heat does wonders to keep you warm!;)
